We are still waiting to hear how much my mom gets from her cousin's passing. We had no idea he socked away so much money, but they have to divide it up between 23 people. It was over a half-million, though, so nothing to sneeze at, even after lawyers fees are paid, etc.

Being that quite a while ago they sold weekly premium policies that only had a face value of about $500, I am guessing maybe $2,500. Of course, I hope that it is much, much more!!!

Here's hoping that its a nice large number. Please be smart with whatever money you receive. Yes, fix the roof. Pay off all debts. Put some aside for kids college. Some for emergency. For future cars, appliances, home repairs.

This woman spent 20 years paying her premiums faithfully on an insurance policy that would take care of someone's future. PLEASE don't do something like blowing it all on a trip that will only last a week. Secure that future that she intended the proceeds for.

Make her proud.

I've had a very rough year dealing with personal issues. Our last vacation to Knoebels was the best ever and one I will NEVER EVER forget. In a way it did us good, showed me some things I have been missing in my life for a very long time. Still not sure how my future will turn out but I will always cherish that week more than ANY other vacation we had. I will have those memories with me always. There are so many days I just wish I could go back...

Most of the policies from years ago were very small and only intended to cover the expenses of a funeral.

My father has two old policies from the '50s. One is for $25,000, the other for $15,000. He gave them to me to hold for the future. I pray that future is far, far away.
