OMG!!! Just mailed out our contract.

We're in, purchased at BWV. I can't believe it I finally convinced Darling, Wonderful Hubby! If we had done it when I had hoped it probably would have been paid for by now .....but we're HOME now so that's all that matters.

This was actually the first year we weren't PLANNING on going but heck now. I better get working on this.

Thanks to this wonderfull site that helped me push him along.

How long did you work on him? I've been working on my DH for about a year. He won't bite. Now I'm bartering things for the membership. He wants to go back in'05 but I want to go this fall and have a membership by then. Oh well, wishful thinking. What did you do to get him interested?

How long did you work on him? I've been working on my DH for about a year. He won't bite.

I don't want to discourage you but the first year we went down as a family was 1996. But actually only started working on him since Thanksgiving of 2002. Have NO idea what changed his mind. I told him about resales and sometimes there are good deals and he said well if a good one comes along let's think about it. Well I found one had them fax me the contract. He was amazed how quickly the contract arrived. Signed with no questions.

I still can't believe it myself.....I RAN to the post office before he changed his mind

jetsetter90 - Congratulations and Welcome Home! I just became a member in Oct and I can't imagine how I survived before and what took us so long. Is that crazy? And I was LOL when I heard how you ran to the post office before your DH changed his mind because that is exactly what I did. I am truly happy for you.

Degli - This was our year to go to WDW (we try to go every other year, and if you go to a deluxe resort at least every other year, DVC is a good bet for you) and I was doing those quotes from the official Disney website for just the resort, no tickets. Printed a few up for GF, Y&B, and the villas, etc. We were looking at spending about $4-5,000 and I mentioned to my DH that we could buy into DVC and have it paid off in 3 to 4 vacations. He took the quotes and looked them over and was amazed that what I told him was correct. I then printed up the thread about the financial reports on the timeshare. We invested years ago in stocks instead of our vacation home, and well, that money is gone now. So he was more open to investing in our future vacations rather than into stocks again. Lastly, he works 7 days a week all year round.... has been doing this for as long as I've known him.... 15 yrs. We now have children and I said, "If you can't take 1 wk off a year and spend it w/ your family, then we are doing something wrong." And that did it. He has worked nonstop and is missing his kids growing up. Luckily, they are both so young and he can redeem himself. I let the work problem go when we were just married, but I will fight for my kids to be placed on the front burner. So that is how I got my DH to go for it. Now we are guaranteed of having him spending some quality time w/ us. Hopefully, this story gave you a couple ideas which will work for your DH. Good luck.

Sounds a good bit like us. DH is in a family business and vaca is limited. He will take 1 week a year but I would like it to be the best. WDW for as long as we can. I'll keep working on it because he loves it too and we always stay at deluxe resorts. To me it only makes sense to buy in.
