OMG I am soooo embarrassed!!! I took my daughter out for dinner last night at a popular chain restuarant. It is a sit-down restaurant, not fast food. We had dinner, and then the bill came. Before I went to pay the bill my daughter decided she needed to go to the washroom. I took her to the washroom, where she needed some 'extra' time to work things out (LOL). We were prob in there for about 15 mins, maybe 20. We had to be at a friends at 7pm, and it was now 6:55. I rushed her out of the bathroom, hopped in the car and got there at 7:05.
Well today it hit me... I DIDN'T PAY THE BILL!!! WE PULLED A DINE AND DASH!!!! OMG I am sooooo embarrassed. I tried to phone the restaurant tonight (which is also an hour from home) and they close at 8pm on Sundays - OMG I am totally freaking out - do they have cameras and have my picture on their 'bad people wall'??? I won't even be near that town for a long time - I will have to mail a check!!!! I can never show my face there again!!! What do restaurants like this do when people dine and dash?? OMG!!!! I am so ashamed of myself - but also finding it funny at the same time!!!!

I can put you in contact with an Underground Railroad.. They'll get you and your DD out of town lickity split.. Quick - start packing!!!!!

:)

Oh, is that all! I thought maybe you bought a kid's meal at WDW or plugged in your crockpot at CBR ;).

I would call the restaurant tomorrow and explain the situation. If you have a credit card it will be easier to pay your bill, if not ask them if a check is OK.

lol!!!!! OMG!!! don't worry! Just call the restraunt tomorrow, and talk to the manager. explain your situation and say your mailing a check or better yet offer to pay by credit card over the phone. good luck!!!

What do restaurants like this do when people dine and dash??
Depends on the Restaurant. In some cases the server is responsible and will have to pay for the Tab out of their Tips. In other cases, like at the Restaurant I do books for, it goes into "walkouts."

Call them tomorrow and talk to the manager, I am sure they will understand, it was after all an honest mistake.

as long as you call and explain your situation I don't see nothing wrong with that....better leave that waiter a good tip though..;)

LOL!! ;) I can see how that could happen KC. . . :) Like everyone says, call them and explain and make it good. . I'm usre they'll appreciate your honesty. . :) :) :)

In the restaurants my sister worked in, they take it out of the servers tips. :(

Since you seem genuinely embarrassed :o by the whole thing, I believe, with all these helpful suggestions, that you'll make it right! ;)

A sense of humor doesn't hurt, either! :)

It was a simple, Oops! Take care of it, but don't feel too bad about it. :)

For a minute there I thought this was another "painted dog" thread....

Thank God! I thought you removed one of those "do not remove under penalty of law" tags. ;)

I'd call and mail a check. It was an honest mistake (and yes, I'd be mortified too!).

I would call as soon as possible. What if they knew and saw you leave and wrote down your license plates?
My friends and I left a restaurant after paying. My goofy friend put all the money under a plate.
The manager ran after us as we were driving off so we turned around to find out what the problem was. She said we didn't pay. We had to go back inside until they found the money. It was between two plates. She offered us free drinks if we came back.

bumcat, I'm so LOL at the vision of the manager chasing you through the parking lot.

I know you will make this alright, KC. This is one for the memory books, I think :)

Technically, you did not break the law unless you had the required mens rea or culpable mental state. This is not the case. Just call the restaraunt and pay the bill. Anyone who has taken a child to the restroom will understand.
