OMG!!! I CAUGHT A DUCK!! An August Trip Report

Still here in EPCOT land!!! You know, I really love Soarin’! I’m thinking of the smells now and the breeze that blows. I can see the ocean waves coming in and feel the hang glider rock when the planes zoom by. That is just an amazing concept for a ride. You’ve gotta love the preflight movie with Patrick explaining the safety instructions and the poor, poor man who has to put away his ears…..you just have to feel so sorry for him as he’s so proud to be wearing them!! As you can tell, I’m having major withdrawals as I’m writing this update today. I’m even listening to MouseWorld Radio 1 right now. Yep, I definitely need help. Or another trip. I am lucky to be going again in March. It may be the last trip for a while, who knows. We’ve got to sell that darned property in Starks!!! It just sucks to pay on something you are not using!!

Ok, back to fun…..just went on a tangent there….

I just have to share some really cute pictures from France….

It felt like our own little photo shoot!!!

Oh look, Victoria is smiling with her TEETH!!! Yahoo!!!

While were were here, for the first time ever in Disney, we saw a man propose to his girlfriend. Both Victoria and I teared up as we watched the scene realizing what was happening. He must have made arrangements with a photopass photographer as there was one right there capturing the moment. How awesome!! So special! Of course we all clapped when she said yes and put the ring on.

Here’s another crazy pic of Victoria:

And yes, she even made a Perry at the Kidcot stop in England! I’m so glad she allows herself to be a little kid sometimes!!

DUCKS!! Victoria loves those ducks! I made sure to have pretzels or some type of snack wherever we went so that we could feed the ducks! We made lots and lots of duck friends. At this particular boat launch there was some other type of black bird that the ducks were scared of. Every time he was around the ducks would scatter. I wish I knew what it was because he was being mean to our friends.

As we were walking by Epcot’s character spot, I noticed the wait time was only 5 minutes so what did I do? Yep, I dragged my family right in. 5 minutes? Not hardly. There was only one other family in there. We walked right up to our first character: Mickey!!! He was extremely happy to see me!

Look at the smile on his face!!

There was equal love from Mr. Pluto. Oh, he knows how much I love him!!

Here he is giving me some Pluto stickers to remember him by. Oh, Pluto, I could never forget you, my love!

Here’s my baby with Minnie!!!

It’s now time for one of our favorite character meals --- The Garden Grill! Thank goodness Erin talked me into this one in 2010 because it’s now a must do every year! We all love the menu which is surprising with my family! I just love how this restaurant rotates and shows the scenery from Living with the Land. It’s just so awesome! :thumbsup2

I love me some Dale!!! He was a very flirtatious chipmunk!! :flower3: We really had a great time. And I now present you with more EPCOT pictures:

And, of course, we must end this day with a picture of Victoria with, you guessed it --- her phone!!! :joker:

Did you guys know that there is a secret entrance between the entrance to Soarin and the bathrooms which are near the reservation desk for Behind the Seeds? Yep, and guess what was open and guess where we walked out! You guessed it --- the secret exit!! As you walk out the doors you can see the different trees and shrubs they have on moveable carts. It ends up right near Journey into Imagination.

Here’s Victoria and Peter waiting for Captain EO. We all love this show! Would you believe I even have We Are Here To Change the World on my iphone and as a ringtone? Yep! I just love this and I know they will probably be retiring it again soon. That’s ok everyone, you can find it on YouTube! I think I’ve watched it a couple of times in the last week. Weird, that’s me!

This day in EPCOT was our last day so we were mainly concentrating on World Showcase. Have you guys ever seen the bridge open near The Outpost to let the Illuminations barges go through? I didn’t even know that bridge lifted. It was pretty cool to see that!

Here is just more random pictures:

As you can tell, we took the boat from Japan back to Canada and back again just for a ride. I love boats!

It was time for Mexico and the boat ride --- WHICH WAS CLOSED!!! How was I possibly going to continue without my Three Cabelleros!! What were they thinking??!! So, no Mexican boat ride for us this year. Sad, sad, sad. We ended up doing what most tourist do ---- act silly in the marketplace. OK!!!

When we got outside we saw a mariachi band playing. Very nice.

It was now time for

Actually it’s time to start another post as I think I’m over picture limit now…..:lmao:

Wow- I never knew that bridge opened up either! Cool!

We are eating at Garden Grill for the first time this trip (which starts..TODAY!)... so excited to try it!

Great pictures...as usual! Fun stuff!

Since this was our last day in a park, we wandered around quite a bit. No one wanted to leave, but we all knew it was inevitable. It’s so sad when you know it’s the last day. It’s almost hard to enjoy that last day knowing what’s coming. So, here are some more pictures:

Then it was on our way to enjoy one of our last meals on property ---- CAPE MAY clam bake!!! We decided to ride the boat over . What a bunch of wussies, huh? We could have just walked but then we would have missed a nice boat ride!

Would you believe I didn’t take one single picture at Cape May? For those of you who don’t know, Cape May is located at the Beach Club. I think I was just bummed at where we were placed (in the little side room away from the buffet itself, the room didn’t even have windows!!), and I didn’t really like our server either. She had such a strong Hispanic accent that she was hard to understand. Then there was a really rude rich lady at the buffet thinking that she should get what she wants first. Whatever witch lady! I hope you got food poisoning! I know, I know….that was mean! It just wasn’t an overall good experience. They didn’t even have calamari and that’s Peter’s favorite. I don’t like little neck clams, either. Oh well.

It was time to head back to Epcot to catch a bus back to the resort….(sniff, sniff). Victoria suggested we sit on the beach for a little bit (yes, she’s procrastinating!). As we were just sitting there we were beginning to draw a crowd…

As always I still had pretzels in my purse, so we started feeding them. They were taking the pretzels right from our hands so Victoria reached down and one let her pick him up…I then hear ‘OMG I CAUGHT A DUCK!!!” Thus the title of this trip report. Yes, folks, you had to wait until the last day to get the reasoning behind my title!!

Again, we decided to take the boat home and had to pass by HS!! Do you know how hard it is for me, whose favorite park is HS, not to go in? As it was Victoria and Peter both had to go to the bathroom so we did get off the boat and went to the bathrooms. Oh, I was sooooo close…..just one little stroll through the gate……but, it wasn’t to be.

SO. NOT. FAIR!!!!!

I've been following along on your thread. :coffee: Wondering if I had missed the "caught a duck" part :confused3, wow what an experience! Sorry to hear about your Cape May experience. Great trip report! :thumbsup2

OMG, she caught a DUCK!!!!!!!!! :lmao: Here I thought it would be something about Donald! I might not tell Savannah about this b/c she's obsessed with those darn ducks and she'll try to catch one too! :rotfl:

So I realized that I don't comment as much in actuality as I do in MY HEAD while reading. I really do read it all and comment, but then I get to the end and forget what I was going to say! So sad, the last day! Boo. Hiss.

Here we are on our last day at Disney. (sniff, tear, sniff) Our last hoorah was breakfast at Chef Mickey’s for 9am. We go there more for the characters than the actual buffet, which is ok, but nothing too special. I made sure to have most of our packing done before we left in the morning. I get so, so upset when we leave on the UnMagical Express. I cry the entire way to the airport. It’s so sad.

Ok, well anyways, here we are at Chef Mickey’s. We were seated by the window which I love. I cannot stand being seated in a dark corner. I need the light!

And then it was time…….

BOO HISS BOO HISS BOO!!!

I just thought this was a fitting image…

So, that’s it folks, that was our trip! It was wonderful. :goodvibes We had a perfect room location, the weather was great (although WAY TOO HOT), and for the most part everyone was upbeat and happy. I cannot wait to go back to Port Orleans Riverside, but alas, unless that stupid house in Starks gets sold (which isn’t looking too promising) it doesn’t look like a POR trip is in the future. Oh, we are cleaning out the house slowly but surely, but the realtor won’t sell it in its present condition. AKA the debris all over the yard --- you know, truck/car parts, old tires, oil barrels, and just plain junk. Like Peter always said a yard is something you can throw your junk out in. So, Peter, how’s that attitude now? Biting you in the butt a bit?! Good news is we have a dumpster coming on Saturday so it’s going to be a trash party!!! I have the mobile home entirely cleared out and it’s just a matter of putting all the garbage bags into the dumpster. We’ve donated A LOT of stuff to Goodwill and probably have another truck load. We are leaving all the furniture including the tv’s, vcrs, dvd players. Someone could just walk in and start living there ---- in both properties! I just went through boxes and boxes of Christmas stuff last weekend that we will be donating. OMG! The stuff that is in this house is unbelievable. A lot of the stuff still has tags on it!! If only Peter would realize that the most important thing HE could do is clean up the yard debris. I can do the house myself. But, nooooooo, he doesn’t see it like that. C’mon darling, there’s already been snow (it didn’t stick) but we really need to do this BEFORE a snow that sticks. He doesn’t think it will be sold before snow. I still think it could if we light a fire under his butt!!

Victoria finally has a new therapist now. :flower3: It seems like it took FOREVER for me to find someone she could relate to that my health insurance would cover (well, except for the co-pay). We met with her yesterday and I am comfortable with her. I hope Victoria does well. My Mom is going to be bringing her back and forth so that I don’t have to take time off of work. I tell you, if it weren’t for my Mom all these years, I don’t know what I’d do. The office is about ½ hour away from Victoria’s school, so Mom will be picking her up at school at 1:45pm and bringing her over there for 2:15pm. I’m sure there will be times when she can’t (like when it snows) but for the most part it will work out.

Peter has a job interview this evening. ::yes:: He’s been with his present company for 24 years, but it’s becoming too stressful for him. He’s a manager and he no longer wants that responsibility. The job he’s interviewing for tonight is basically the same thing he’s doing now --- propane installation, sales and service and IT’S IN AUGUSTA!!!! :cool1: It would mean no more travelling an hour to get to work and an hour to get home. Even if it’s a couple dollars an hour less, it would be worth it as far as the gas money and wear and tear on the car. I think they are very interested in him so we’ll see. I hope he knows tonight. That would be one more item on the list of goals we could cross off. ::yes::

In closing I just want to say I’ve had fun sharing my trip with all of you and I appreciate all the comments. And yes……I have something in the works! Stop by and visit:
