I've been posting on a skincare BB and made a comment about my daughter on this new board. I referred to her as my DD. They don't know what a DD is, do they? Is the DIS the only place we have DDs, DSs, DHs, DWs?

You can tell I don't get around much.

Sometimes I write this stuff in emails and have even spoken the letters DH.

I've done the same thing!

All of the abbreviations stick in my head, I did a Google search for something about the Magic Kingdom today and typed in "MK" instead of Magic Kingdom. I couldn't figure out why I was getting such weird results.

Although it's been "defined" before here on the DIS as "Disney Daughter," "Disney Husband," etc., I think the D actually means Dear. And I've been reading/using it on message boards since the early 90's! (Anyone remember alt.rec.disney?)

Yes, I as well, post on many boards and for the most part they all say DD, DS and DH.

I have also found that when something is posted and a poster does not understand, they will just simply ask you what does DD mean in the next post.

The other day someone posted on another board that they always CMRRR????

Quickly another poster asked what that meant and just as quickly the response was = Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested!!!

Oh, well, I certainly feel better. I had no idea that it was so universal. I went back to my post over there and saw the "DD" and I just couldn't believe I had done that. I'm so glad to hear it is "normal"!

Well, now that I know it is universal, I think it should be acceptable in RL.

I've only seen one or two posters say that the D stands for "Disney." I think most of us know it means "Dear." Sorry, I guess I was kind of fuzzy about that in my earlier post!

Oh, nothing was said on the board about the use of "DD". I
just thought I'd done something wrong/silly because I didn't know anyone else would know what it meant.



And to the hijackers...that is OK. This is a stupid thread anyway. I'm just glad I got some reply. Heck, who cares whether those replies have anything to do with my OP.

been there and done that. Even worse I will mix it with ASL syntax in a text message to a hearing person and will end up really embarassed.
