OMG...I am so full. First time review. UPDATE-2/9 Mama Melrose/Raglan Road

:wave2:

You're certainly off to a great start - can't wait to read more! :) I'm especially looking forward to your review of the Turf Club at SSR - we'll be staying there for the first time in April. :)

If you go back to the Rose & Crown for dinner, you might luck out and get a table out on the patio. You get a great view of Illuminations from there. :goodvibes

Great job with the reviews. I am glad to hear you liked Chef Mickeys for dinner because we will be having Chef Mickeys Dinner for our first night of our trip. Most people say they like the breakfast better but you liked the dinner so I am happy to try the dinner for the first time. We had the breakfast at CM before and like you, it was alright food but you are there for the characters. I am looking forward to the rest of your reviews.

Happy Birthday, now let's hear about all the cupcakes. :teeth:

Sorry everyone, but this is the one place where I just blanked out and completely forgot to take any pictures at all. I was exhausted by the time we ate dinner and I had been up since 5. I will try to be as descriptive as possible so you can imagine the yummy goodness that was here.

Our original plans were to go to the Biergarten, but after lunch, I just didn't think I could handle a buffet of all places, and since we were both so tired, I made reservations for dinner here instead.

Overall the experience was a good one. It was nice and dark and quiet. The perfect place to wind down for the evening with a good steak.

I decided to try the goat cheese and tomato bisque with croutons. I have had something sort of like this at a tapas restaurant, and I loved it. Much better when the cheese wasn't mixed in the soup, that way I could portion out the amount of cheese per bite instead of it overwhelming the tomato flavor. The toasts were fabulous, and I could have eaten a full basket of just that alone they were so good...buttery and crispy...yummy :)

J had the onion rings (the only thing on the appetizer menu she would touch). It came with two different kinds of sauces. One was a mango ketchup and the other one was some sort of mustard ranch I think. They were interesting to say the least. The mango one was good, but the other was kind of gross. Good thing J doesn't do many sauces. The rings were good though, really crispy on the outside and very large cuts of onion. Can't really go wrong with that.

We both opted for steak on this meal because we were starving, and I wanted at least one steak while on the deluxe plan. I got the NY Strip with Bleu Cheese. It was good...the cheese didn't overpower the steak for once, and the mashed potatoes that came with it were so good and creamy. The basalmic reduction was actually better on the potatoes than the steak. Overall it was a decent steak. Nothing more, nothing less. The only problem with it was that I had ordered it medium and it came well done. I was truly okay with that because I just started ordering non-well done meat these days, and it didn't kill me to eat it overcooked. It was still moist and tender.

J got the prime rib with mashed potatoes and some sort of red wine reduction. That was sooooo good. As soon as I had a taste of hers, I knew I should have gotten that, and vice versa. She actually peferred mine over hers, but since they screwed hers up (she ordered it well done and it came back medium), I had already eaten half of mine. It was the perfect prime rib though.

I decided against dessert because I was so full. J got the NY cheesecake without the seasonal berries (she doesn't do berries). We ended up getting that to go and put it in the fridge in the room and never touched it, so while it looked good, we have no idea of what it tasted like. Sorry.

We liked this restaurant a lot. We did notice that a lot of plates were going back to the kitchen that night, and judging by what happened to our steaks, we figured the kichen was having a very off night in the cooking. Oh well...it happens. It definitely won't stop me from going there again.

And there you have it...sorry there were no pictures. That really bummed me out that I totally forgot all about the camera sitting in my pocket until I was halfway through eating. :confused3

Oh, it was fabulous! I hadn't had a great English meal like that in ages. It made me crave bubble'n squeak something fierce.

Thanks a lot! That was actually the meal we were supposed to have in September when we were there, but because some people that were with us didn't think they would like it...I had to change my reservation. :sad1:

It was really great. We were actually talking about making that our starting point for our trips since we go so often and come in in the afternoons. You can't go wrong twirling napkins and hugging on everyone.

Great reviews--waiting for more!

Count me in!:thumbsup2

Cant wait to hear more!

I guess it all depends on day and time--we LOVED the Turf Club and ended up eating there three times. The steak with blue cheese was great, then one night I had the steak, but this time with the crab (liked the blue cheese better). For our last day lunch we had the steak sandwich. It was absolutely the best. And the cheesecake was wonderful. It was warm that last day and we ate lunch outside--beautiful day in November! Warm memories of the Turf Club.

duplicate post--sorry

Joining in! I love Turf Club - steak & bleu cheese - yum!

Today we ventured off on a very brisk (35 degrees) morning for our 7:50am ADR. I know...it was crazy to make one that early, but we are early risers. We left our resort at 7:00am to make sure we had plenty of time to get to the Poly from SSR. We caught the first MK bus at 7:05...yay! Things were going well, that is, until we got to the Magic Kingdom to hop on the monorail. Unbeknownst to any of us not living in the realm of Disney 24/7, the monorails apparently don't like the cold. Who knew? The monorail was down. It was now 7:25 and we had half an our to get to where we needed to be. We saw a boat come up to the dock...yay! It was a training boat...boo! The CM fortunately had pity on us and one other family who had no other way of getting to the Poly from the MK. They took us over...hooray! We made it to the Poly at 7:40am and was seated right away.

This was our view on the way over.

Our server went through the normal spiel about everything and the characters and the food and brought us our fruit plate very quickly along with filling our juice glasses. We ordered our other beverages of choice and sat around looking across the lake to the MK and the castle as we were seated at the window overlooking the lake and a perfect veiw of the castle. I can only imagine how great the fireworks look from that spot.

Anyway...back to the food at hand.

I can't tell you if it was fresh or not because I didn't have a single piece of it. J said the pineapple was good, but I think she was a bit biased because she loves pineapple.

The Welcome bread...I liked the cinnamon one better than the other one. I thought that both would have been infinitely better i they were warm instead of ice cold. Oh well...can't have everything I want right?

3220907231_c0c1d797bb.jpg

The hot plate sans potatoes...sorry, but I didn't remember to take the picture until we ate the potatoes. We loved the potatoes. The eggs were a bit runny, but tasted good nonetheless. The sausage was oh so good! The best sausage we had the entire trip actually. The bacon was okay...nothing to write home about. Neither one of us like biscuits very much and I was kind of full and all of the characters starting showing up, so no biscuits for us.

While we were eating, look who came and decided he wanted to act like a dog that day and sit on my lap.

I thought the character interaction was the best of any character meal we had this trip. Every single one of them was so great and playful. I can't recommend this meal more if you want the interaction with the characters.

I was forced to do the parade...yes I was. But I had fun, and that is all that matters.

Next up...Le Cellier!

I decided to include my most favorite drink in all of EPCOT...the Iced Mango Green Tea. Now I know it isn't alcoholic, but it is still the perfect drink to cool off with on a warm day.

My only thing is...not covered on the DDP. OH well....totally worth the $4.06 for this baby.
