Sorry everyone, but this is the one place where I just blanked out and completely forgot to take any pictures at all. I was exhausted by the time we ate dinner and I had been up since 5. I will try to be as descriptive as possible so you can imagine the yummy goodness that was here.
Our original plans were to go to the Biergarten, but after lunch, I just didn't think I could handle a buffet of all places, and since we were both so tired, I made reservations for dinner here instead.
Overall the experience was a good one. It was nice and dark and quiet. The perfect place to wind down for the evening with a good steak.
I decided to try the goat cheese and tomato bisque with croutons. I have had something sort of like this at a tapas restaurant, and I loved it. Much better when the cheese wasn't mixed in the soup, that way I could portion out the amount of cheese per bite instead of it overwhelming the tomato flavor. The toasts were fabulous, and I could have eaten a full basket of just that alone they were so good...buttery and crispy...yummy
J had the onion rings (the only thing on the appetizer menu she would touch). It came with two different kinds of sauces. One was a mango ketchup and the other one was some sort of mustard ranch I think. They were interesting to say the least. The mango one was good, but the other was kind of gross. Good thing J doesn't do many sauces. The rings were good though, really crispy on the outside and very large cuts of onion. Can't really go wrong with that.
We both opted for steak on this meal because we were starving, and I wanted at least one steak while on the deluxe plan. I got the NY Strip with Bleu Cheese. It was good...the cheese didn't overpower the steak for once, and the mashed potatoes that came with it were so good and creamy. The basalmic reduction was actually better on the potatoes than the steak. Overall it was a decent steak. Nothing more, nothing less. The only problem with it was that I had ordered it medium and it came well done. I was truly okay with that because I just started ordering non-well done meat these days, and it didn't kill me to eat it overcooked. It was still moist and tender.
J got the prime rib with mashed potatoes and some sort of red wine reduction. That was sooooo good. As soon as I had a taste of hers, I knew I should have gotten that, and vice versa. She actually peferred mine over hers, but since they screwed hers up (she ordered it well done and it came back medium), I had already eaten half of mine. It was the perfect prime rib though.
I decided against dessert because I was so full. J got the NY cheesecake without the seasonal berries (she doesn't do berries). We ended up getting that to go and put it in the fridge in the room and never touched it, so while it looked good, we have no idea of what it tasted like. Sorry.
We liked this restaurant a lot. We did notice that a lot of plates were going back to the kitchen that night, and judging by what happened to our steaks, we figured the kichen was having a very off night in the cooking. Oh well...it happens. It definitely won't stop me from going there again.
And there you have it...sorry there were no pictures. That really bummed me out that I totally forgot all about the camera sitting in my pocket until I was halfway through eating.
