My husband and I have AP's. We booked 6 nights at the Coronado Springs starting 5/3, leaving on 5/9. We are getting to Orlando on 5/2 and staying at a Marriott that first night. I had made Fast Pass reservations for 5/2 through 5/8. Today I realized that we are not leaving Orlando that early on 5/9, so I decided to book Fast Passes for the last Saturday. Only the system won't let me. I called and the reason is that, even though we have AP's, and could book 30 days in advance and get seven days worth of Fast Passes without ever staying at a Disney hotel, the fact that we ARE staying at a Disney resort gets us nothing, since we are "only" staying 6 nights. So you can look at it as either my AP gets me NOTHING, or my Disney resort reservation gets me NOTHING. We cannot get more than 7 days of Fast Passes at a time. The tech on the phone nicely informed me that I can get Fast Passes for 5/9 AFTER I use my Fast Passes for 5/2. WOW! AP holder getting screwed. Thanks Disney.

With an AP, you get up to 7 days of advanced FP+ reservations.

What you gain with your WDW resort stay (with an AP) is the ability to book those days up to 60 days in advance over the normal 30 days in advance without the resort stay.
You can book an advanced FP+ "day" for every day or your WDW resort stay, plus checkout day.

AND (with your WDW resort stay and AP) you can book ALL days of your stay on the date that your first day is 60 days in advance. Without the resort stay, you can only book the 30 days in advance as one-day-at-a time.

Is this the case if you stay at a resort for longer than 7 days? I'm planning a 10 day trip this summer.

Thanks! I was going to be annoyed if I couldn't get 10 days of FP+ when my window opens!

Just so that I understand it, AP entitles you to 7 days worth of fast passes, your resort stay entitles you to 6. They gave you the longest duration of the two with 7 days worth of fastpasses but you were expecting 8 days of fast passes? Did you know that your AP only entitled you to 7 days worth of Fastpasses when you purchased?

The OP's WDW resort stay entitles SEVEN days of FP+.

6 FP+reservation days for the 6 nights of the resort stay, plus 1 FP+ reservation day for check-out day.

You are obviously a HUGE Disney fan who loves every single thing about WDW if you consider this to be Disney hitting "new lows."

AND -it needs to be said-

FP+ questions like these are answered (and FP+ Priorities listed) in the highly recommended, super-complete, often discussed, gotta love it, not to be missed, must-read, gargantuan juggernaut, growing by leaps and bounds, constantly updated and refreshed by the DISboard's own mesaboy2...

Gotcha. Apparently, I forgot how to count. So, either way, she is only entitled to 7 days worth of Fast passes.

If you're staying onsite until the 9th, you should be able to book until the 9th.
Your AP should qualify you for the first night, being one night within the 30 day window, offsite.
And your qualifying admission (AP) along with your onsite stay should entitle you to FPs for the duration of your stay.
I would call them back and see if they can accommodate that for you.
When I go for 2 weeks, I book all two weeks at once .... If I starts my trip with one night offsite, why should that change what I can do if I spend my whe trip onsite? I don't get it...

Yup, with an AP, you get up to 7 days of advanced FP+ reservations (if your resort stay is 7 days or fewer.)

What you gain with your WDW resort stay (with an AP) is the ability to book those days up to 60 days in advance over the normal 30 days in advance without the resort stay.

This has been an excellent review. Thank you.

Just to clarify - are Swan & Dolphin considered a resort stay for FP+ booking purposes?

5/9 should be available for booking, as it is your check-out day.

Yes.

MBs aren't free though. But they're not required to use the system.

But not if 5/2 is booked right? Because that would be 8 days worth of FPs which neither her resort stay nor her AP entitles her too

Just want to see if I am understanding this right

Correct.

I can't imagine whomever put the FP+ rules together could have possibly imagined or taken into account the endless combinations and complications of ticket and resort situations that guests can create.

But many of us here on the fan sites started asking the "what if" questions as soon as the tentative rules began to emerge.
