OMG...Could This Get Any Slower???

Mine tends to mark everything as UNREAD sometimes.

Mine will do it for the entire site if I go off to another site and then return. Always. I've never had a time when it didn't in all the years I have used this site.

I just wish that the boards wouldn't log me out every few minutes. I have to log in nearly every time I want to respond to a thread, and then of course everything is set to "read". *:headache:

That happened to me just the other day...that's when I lost my post. To be honest though...it never happened before that at all. I am only guessing here but it might be your internet connector. If it cuts out at some point the site will probably read it as signed off.
 
Just now...after being on "Theme Parks Attractions" for a few minutes, I clicked on "Theme Parks Community"...that took a full minute to come up. Went to the first topic on that board and clicked on. After waiting 1 minute and 35 seconds for it to come up...I gave up.

I then tried the regular "Community Board", clicked on it and 1 minute later it came up. Tried to get to page 2 of that same one and it took 1 minute and 28 seconds to come up.

Now that may not seem like a lot of time but if you multiply that by the hundreds of posts on this board...we are talking about a lot more time than I can give it. Just trying to point out the degree of this particular problem for some of us. Please, powers that be, try and get this problem fixed.
 
I agree. It's very annoying. It's like having dial up again, I didn't switch for no reason, I like to click on a page and have it show in a reasonable amount of time.
 

So what if it is slow sometimes.. it is free & there is some valuable information on this site...

Since when is a slow server a discussion for the theme parks board? maybe if we followed some rules around here and posted where we should, it would ease up things a bit and make browsing a little easier.... When I want to look for park tips, I don't want to see your reports on the browser, or your car ride down, or your sick relative or complaint about the hotel room etc... I want what this board is supposed to be for...Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies
Discuss touring plans and strategies for the Disney World theme parks on this board.

Oh, for goodness sakes will you please get over the forum location and understand that it is extremely important to the continued usage and enjoyment of the "Attractions and Strategies" section.

If you cannot view the information in that forum how does it help anyone?

In the suggested forum it gets completely lost. Who looks there or for that matter even knows it exists (other than you)? This way we get to share experiences with each other as well as inform the site owners that they have a potential problem that will eventually drive folks away from this site. That would be too bad because it is one of the best ones going.

I agree that Pete has a great site going and I, for one, would like to see it continue to be strong and vibrant. I'm sorry if that offends you that I dare speak of a problem. You will notice that many people have said that they had noticed these problems as well but thought it was unique to them so they didn't report it to your beloved "tech" board as they didn't see it as a server problem.

This forum, I suspect, is the most popular, other than Community and it is best served here where more people can see it and respond to it. It might even be helpful to Pete and his crew in trouble shooting the situation or for even knowing it exists for that matter.
 
Thanks for bringing this up, it has been happening to me for years. I don't post a lot, but I've been a member since 2006. I get really, really frustrated with this site as it times me out all the time or it takes forever to load, or I'll log in and all the post's will look like they've been read. I go to a lot of different sites and this is the only site I have a problem with. I love this board and I'm thankful for it, but it can be frustrating.

There have been several threads about the slow boards in the Tech Forum but they never get answered as far as I can tell.

It has been stated, multiple times over the years, by the head tech guy, that those mentioned factors do not slow the overall board itself down. Those may however, slow down an individual's personal experience here, such as if that individual were on a dial up. I would say most here are not on dial up, I know I am not.

It's obvious from your post that you don't understand how a web server works. Just saying. :rolleyes1
 
It appears that the current servers are reaching their limits. I know from conversation with the people that run the boards that they are working on server upgrades. In fact one was supposed to happen shortly but they ran into some difficulty with the hosting location.

The DIS folks are aware of the issue and are working to resolve it. In the mean time you can ease some of your frustration by trying the boards in the "off" times. Right now (Sunday morning) they are flying!

Oh, and if you find the boards a valuable resource please consider a small donation by becoming a sponsor. You'll find the link in my sig.

Well I was going to respond that a chardonnay sounds good, but it took forever to load so I guess I'll open a pinot noir.
