Olympus Evolt Series

Lisa, welcome! Glad you found us. I'm lucky, I work with two people who also have the camera - well, one has a 510 and one has a 520, so we get to talk shop a lot. Would love to see some of your pictures!

Thanks for the welcome! I can't believe I've been at the Dis for quite some time now, but hadn't come over to this board yet.

I'm very new to "fancy" cameras. My Olympus 510 is the first one I've ever owned like this (before I just had smaller Digi Cameras - an Older Olympus that was 3 pixels, I think, then a Fuji 4.0). I still use the Auto settings a lot, but I've gotten a little adventurous with trying out some of the settings (macro for nature, white for snow/sand, sports mode & fireworks).

I'll share a few pictures in a bit. I have taken a lot of pictures out in my garden.

Oh and the trip we're taking in about 2 weeks will be my first time in Disney with this camera and I'm getting super excited. I can't even imagine how many pics I'm going to take! :3dglasses

Great to see more Oly users around here.....welcome.

I recently took my 510 to WDW for the first time and it gave me a great chance to use both the aperture and shutter priority settings.

Enjoy your trip and take lots of photos :thumbsup2

You'll love this board, Lisa, and will learn A LOT! :goodvibes

Witty, have we seen any more of your pictures? ;)

I took about 200 when I was down there a few weeks ago but I'm only about half way through processing the RAW files. I love shooting in RAW format but it sure does take some time to get a finished product :rotfl:

I'll have to load some of what I have finished on photobucket this weekend and I'll put them on here.

Sharing pictures. Remember, I'm very new at this. :worship:

Enough flowers... how about a picture from the Bronx Zoo? I used my larger lens to zoom in on this little guy.

Glad to see more Oly users appearing all the time.

My son uses the Evolt E500 with 8meg sensor. Bought at Ritz Camera in Florida Mall two years ago

This trip he bought the awsome 70-300 f4.5 -f5.6 and the FL36 flashgun. The prices that you pay over in the USA are much better than in the UK

I would like to stay and talk but I have a Samsung GX20. For me it was this or the new E520 but they have reduced the quality of the lens to a single coated, and so I went for the Samsung.

At the moment, my son is turning out better images on the Oly than I am on the Samsung, but he has had two years practice.

Tashamum -What HDR program did you use to create those?

They are AWESOME

No HDR program used, all RAW shots developed in Lightroom using presets and then selective dodging and burning in CS3.

Thanks for the comments

okay, I need a lesson on this then. I shoot in raw, I have LR2 and CS3 and wouldn't even know where to begin....

please what are you doing?

Yes, time and practice is huge, regardless of what you use!

Congrats and welcome! :goodvibes

Those are nice, obm. I have some similar that I took last weekend. I think they could have been a little sharper on the bee/branch had I used a different focus point. Taken with the 14-42.

And check out this little cutie feverishly tearing a bag apart. Slightly overexposed, but it would have been a blob of blur with my old point and shoot.
