I just made a PS for Olivia's (for 10) for our first night at OKW. We want to have a relaxing afternoon moving into our home away from home and then a nice dinner (5:20 PS).

Has anyone eaten there recently? What are your thoughts? Should I keep this PS or look elsewhere?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Just returned from OKW Tuesday. Olivia's is very reasonably priced and the food is good any time of day. DW had Prime rib for dinner and was ok but not as good as CR. I had shrimp fritters and seafood pasta, both were great. Service was very good any time of day. Enjoy!!!!

Olivias has scored a slight comeback in the past year or so. It was an excellent restaurant when we first joined in 95, then things went really down hill to the point where it was the topic of discussion on this board with many negatives. Now it has come back to a point. It is a family restaurant not anything else. Now there can be one problem with the place and that is if it is crowded the noise level can get real bad especially if you have some out of control kids. A few years ago I swore I would never eat there again, but have come back to the point where I will have lunch there. I am a tough sell when it comes to resort eating but if you don't mind a little noise that can result from the way the place is contructed then go ahead. If you want a relaxing meal for sure then I would go elsewhere, you will pay more however. It is a short drive to Artist Point from OKW.

We ate one breakfast and one lunch at Olivia's during our stay stay in early August and would have gone back again if we had the time. We were very impressed with both the food and the servers. The restaurant was quiet both times we were there. It is definitely on our list of places to return to. It sounds like a great first night plan to just relax at OKW and have dinner at Olivia's. While Olivia is not the best or fanciest restaurant at WDW, it is just the thing for a relaxing meal. Have fun whatever you decide!!

The restaurant is quite at breakfast and lunch because people with kids are at the parks. You are gambling if you want a relaxing dinner. The place can very quickly turn into a school cafeteria with the noise. It is in part due to the floors and walls but it is also because people come there with there kids for dinner. The noise bounds around the place like a school cafeteria at lunch time. Go elsewhere for dinner.

You have early PS plans, so I don't think you will have any problem with crowding/noise. We always make a PS for 5:30 or 6:00, and have enjoyed Olivia's each and every time.

We've done B-L-D there on a # of occasions and like the restaurant. Nothing fancy, but good. And it's right there, so after you do get situated you won't have far to go for dinner.
And they still serve (at least they did in May) Safari Amber draft!!

We really enjoy Olivia's and try to eat there at least once each trip.

We had quite the opposite experience from those described above this past weekend.

We checked in to VWL around 7:30 last night, and were settled into our room and ready for dinner around 8:30.

We headed down to Whispering Point, hoping that, at "that" time of day, maybe all of the "excitement" of that restaurant would have settled down. We were seated, and within 3 minutes, the "horse races" began. Now, please don't get me wrong - I really enjoy this restaurant but, after a long day at work and the drive over - it just wasn't what we were looking for!

We hopped in the car and headed over to Olivia's - to arrive for dinner around 8:50. We were one of about 3-4 other tables in the restaurant. It was DELIGHTFUL!! Our waiter, Catoe (sp?) - was great! And the gentleman over in the gift shop, Jim (I think) - the one who's wife also works with him - came over and was shooting Buzz Lightyear guns around the restaurant! :)

I missed the tropical music, but we "did" really enjoy the new jazz.

I almost always get the Fried Chicken Breast Dinner. It was great, as always - though they have replaced the green beans with zucchini, squash, and carrots. My DH had his normal ceasar salad and, "yes, Uncleromulus,' - he got the Safari Amber Draft.

It was a wonderful, relaxing dinner - and a great way to end a busy day/start a great weekend getaway to WDW!!

I ate at Olivia's on Labor Day, and as always it was excellent. I've never had a bad experience there, and will return many more times.

We went to Olivia's on our last visit and really enjoyed our meal. The food was very good and the service was even better. If you have a Disney Club card you can also get a free smoothie or "select" glass of wine with each adult entree. We will probably go there again on our next visit.

Spoodles has the same DC freebie, but the wine is actually a sangria (sp.?).

Sounds like for convenience sake, this will be a good choice. Even if, by chance, we catch Olivia's on a "noisy" evening, we will likely be the cause of it (I have a very loud family :) and we are going to be a table of ten with 4 children (1, 4, 7, 9). So, we will enjoy it regardless of noise level.

We are truly looking forward to enjoying a trip home to OKW and I believe a dinner at Olivia's will acquaint us from the get-go with our surroundings.

Thanks again everyone for your thoughts!

Louis

We enjoyed Olivia's in March 2002. My sister enjoyed her prime rib and I really like my chicken fried chicken. I can't remember what the kids ate, but I don't remember any complaints.

I wanted to try the key lime pie, but never did. I was too full after my meal and meant to go for dessert one night, but didn't make it there. Next time!

To new yawka--I would not have mentioned the noise had I known you had kids in your party. When you used the term relax, I just assumed you were all adults. Olivia's is a great place for people to eat a meal with kids. The word "relax" , I read to much into it. Sorry, enjoy Olivia's.

WE really enjoyed Olivia's this past August. I had the Mahi Mahi and it was excellent, DH had a pasta dish and left nothing behind. The girls had Mickey pasta and enjoyed it.

We have had the pleasure of having Kato as our waiter in the past. He was great. Very knowlegdable about the menu and offers great suggestions.

I say go for it...........

We have always liked Olivia's...through thick and thin. Olivia's used to get a bad rap, they have much improved, it still never kept me away. Its right on grounds, pretty and I have always enjoyed my meals.

Except for the character breakfast, they trucked in this nast-pre-plated grull. I like breakfast there very much when there is no character breakfast....I am glad they ended it and hope they don't bring it back if it has to be accompanied with that nasty breakfast.

No problem at all. My us eof the term relax was probably overstating it a bit (that truly comes after the little ones are asleep). guess I figure not having to go too far and having an early dinner so there is no rush to get back for the kids bedtime to be as "relaxing" as we can reasonably hope for ;)
