Olivia's at OKW

Olivia's does not serve food all day. They take short breaks between meals. We tried to eat there in March around 11:10 am and they were not serving food at that time. They stop breakfast at 11:00 and do not seat anyone for a short length of time. Now, that may be different during the summer and the busier time of year. I would suggest calling to check on their serving times. The odd thing about not serving between breakfast and lunch is that you can go around the corner to the fast food window and order items off the Olivia's menu instead of a hot dog or burger. This is what we did.

We have eaten lunch and dinner there. When the weather is nice, dining outside is a pleasant option.

By the way, we think they make one of the best hamburgers on property.

***"Sorry to be negative, but we had the worst meal of our life there, and it won't be forgotten. The waiter actually dropped some of our food on the floor and put it back on the plate. He never came back with fresh food either! Then he sat at the table beside us and chatted with the couple there while our glasses set empty."****

........ where the poster loved the friendly service at Olivia's, so friendly in fact that the "waiter just dropped what he was doing and took the time to sit down and talk to us".

Nah, probably not.

Is it possible to walk from SSR to OKW? I didn't know that! Is it a long walk? A really short drive right?

Thanks,
Mandy

I figured we must be able to walk...just follow the path of the boat...but I wasn't sure exactly how to do it until I read WebmasterDoc's post earlier in this thread. We'll try that next time (as long as the kids aren't too hungry or tired).

Breakfast 7:30am - 10:30am
Lunch 11:30am - 5:00pm
Dinner 5:00pm - 10:00pm

Somehow I managed to miss some of the replies on this thread and had missed Doc's info on walking to OKW from SSR. You must have thought I was really dumb when a few posts later I asked if it is possible to walk to OKW. Thanks for your polite response anyway!

My baby girl turned one recently and I grab a few minutes here and there on the PC and I don't always manage to keep up and I often skim read. If I sit at the PC for more than a few minutes she crawls in and goes under the desk where the wires are......sooooooooo I have to be quick!

Thanks for all the great comments on this thread.

Shadeux, I think we will follow your advice and visit Olivia's for dessert and coffee. Sounds great!

Do I dare tell you that at Olivia's last year our waiter did exactly that for my 6 year old niece :)? He sat down so he would be at her eye level. He explained some of the menu, answered any questions she had, made sure she was enjoying her WDW vacation, etc.

We have had many meals at Olivia's & cannot complain - service is very good, food is delicious, etc.

I could write pages about the bad things that happen to us meal after meal at Olivas years ago. I gave up on them for about 3 years refusing to go. I gave them a try a few years back and have noticed they have made a turn for the better. They are what I would call a family restaurant.. The help is friendly. The food is lacking in some areas. I remember how it was when we first went there back in 94, it was a lot better than. I think they found there spot in the food chain, that being a fair family restaurant. I like the salads for lunch. Thanks for your honest report. They have a rather large waiter there that probably was the guy who sat down to talk to the people next to you. He is just about the most friendly waiter there is, but a waiter should never sit down using the chairs from any table but I believe you have to over look his lack of class because of his size. It would be really very difficult for him to get down to eye level like a lot of waiters like to do especially for children. At any rate thanks again for your report.

I assume you could take the walking path that leads from OKW to DTD. It follows the canal and comes into OKW near building 55. It would be a nice walk, but not impossible. Sorry to hear the boats are irratic. The Trumbo Ferry was always great.
