Hi

When we stay at SSR in September we hope to boat/drive over to Olivias at OKW for meals sometimes. We ate a wonderful late lunch there in May and are eager to go back-especially to try breakfast! We also thought the desserts on display looked fab but we were so full we couldn't face one!

Is food served there all day? Do they stop serving breakfast very early? (We aren't always up and about real early, blame DH not the baby!)

We love Olivias too! Sorry I can't give you more particulars on when they stop serving breakfast etc. We don't usually do breakfast, but they have great lunches and dinners! We left California Grill one night last January after waiting more than an hour past our PS! When we asked, they told us it would be at least another half hour. We decided to leave and have dinner at Olivias instead. It was a great decision, and we didn't eat until about 10.

One of the great things about Olivia's - for us - is that they don't close between meals.

We often drive over and arrive around 3:00, or so, when most of the other restaurants are closed between lunch and dinner, but Olivia's is always open.

When they officially change from their "lunch" menu to their "dinner" menu, I couldn't tell you - but they'll be open any time...

There is a break between meals I think. I would stick to breakfast or lunch at Olivias, dinner can get very noisy when that place fills up with kids. It is a family restaurant that has made a turn for the better in the last few years. Their fruit plate is still real bad, but their salads have improved a great deal, it looks like they at least care a little about their product now. Remember the boat only runs once an hour now during the day until late in the day when it goes to 1/2 hour. The above poster might be correct about closing, I thought they closed for a short period, but I may be wrong.

pa@okw95 - that would have to be a recent change.

I know for certain they used to be open all day. I've called from I-4 while driving over and talked to a CM about a reservation for, around, 3:30. She went thru the list of restaurants, and Olivia's was one of very few that she could find that were open.

I'm pretty sure they are open all day. We have had mid afternoon lunches and late dinners as well.

Yes, I would agree they are open all day! I remember waiting for them to open when they had the character breakfast, I think that is what made me think I had to wait for a meal. I eat there anytime of the day lunch, so you are right, they are open without closing once they do open at I think 7 am, may be wrong about the time they open also. Sorry for the mix up.

They are open all day but they do switch menus from breakfast to lunch to dinner. I think you can order breakfast up to noon but I am not positive, it could be 11 AM. We usually have lunch at Olivia's somewhere around 12 and the lunch menu is in effect at that time.

Hi all ...

Just thought I'd toss in my 2 cents ... we love Olivia's! I almost hate to say it because it might bring crowds! ;) We have been members for 10 years and have eaten there many times for all meals. We've never had a bad experience ... it's a quiet little gem!

Hey! We're doin' the single digit dance here!!!

Olivia's gets my vote for the "we try harder" restaurant at WDW. I think because of it's distant location, the chefs really work at providing a good meal at a reasonable value. The soup, salad, sandwich combo for lunch for less than $10 is one of the best bangs for the buck around. Word is that Disney CMs from all over make the trek there for a meal, just to escape the bustle of the parks.

Olivia's is just fine. It's not a gourmet dining room, and doesn't try to be, but I've never been dissapointed. Come by for a hunk of key lime pie, if nothing else.

If you want breakfast at Olivia's, you may need to find another form of transportation- since the boats don't start running until 11:00am. If the boat won't get you there in time you can certainly take a bus to DD and switch to the OKW bus. You can also walk- it would take about 15 minutes to walk from SSR to the South Point bus stop- then take any bus to Olivia's (they will all stop there- but ask the driver to confirm). If you want to walk the whole way, it will take another 10- 12 minutes.

Enjoy!

Where at SSR do you get to the path that hoes to OKW? I kind of wondered how to get to OKW from SSR. Is it lighted for night time walking?

From SSR, if you walk past the boat dock, there is a golf cart bridge. Cross that bridge (when you come to it ; ) and then take the paved walkway to the left. It follows the Trumbo Canal and leads to OKW. On the way you'll get glimpses of the DI Fairway Villas (used currently to house college CM's and soon to be razed for the additional 6 SSR buildings recently announced) and the Treehouse Villas (currently unoccupied). The walkway comes out next to building 55 in the South Point area of OKW.

This walkway is lighted from SSR to the Treehouse area, but not the rest of the way to OKW. I would not suggest making this journey in the dark. The walkway, while paved, is uneven and could result in problems for some stumbling in the dark! :smooth:

If you take the walkay to the left (after crossing the bridge), you will end up at Cirque and the West Side of DD (HoB, DQ, etc.).

Enjoy!

I'm fairly certain they stop serving breakfast at 11 am. Lunch starts at 11:30 am. I remember looking at the schedule posted near the door; I think lunch was served until 5pm and I believe dinner started at 5pm. I don't remember there being a break between lunch and dinner as there was between breakfast and lunch. Every year we say we're going to go to Olivia's just for dessert but never get around to it until our trip a couple weeks ago. My husband and I walked over to Olivia's about 9pm for dessert and coffee. I had the key lime tart and he has some sort of banana and ice cream/tortilla thing. Both were VERY good.

Absolutely horrid food and service when we ate breakfast there back in 2001. We've not tried it again it was so bad. Too many restaurants in WDW and the resorts that we know are good for us to chance this place again.

Sorry to be negative, but we had the worst meal of our life there, and it won't be forgotten. The waiter actually dropped some of our food on the floor and put it back on the plate. He never came back with fresh food either! Then he sat at the table beside us and chatted with the couple there while our glasses set empty.

We always stay at OKW and have eaten lunch at OKW a number of times. We always get the soup and sandwich. Very good and the CM's are top notch. Dinner was good but the last time we were there the noise level was awful. Mainly because of a large table with a number of children running uncontrolled. We go to CG, FF, Chefs, Palio and Jiko most of the time for diinner. Some of these are loud also.
I wouldn't hesitate to go to Olivia's. Never had breakfast since we always stay in a 1 BR and do our own which we much prefer.

We were at Olivia's on Sunday night for the first time. We tried getting a PS an hour before...but they said nothing was available. We drove over from SSR and they had tons of immediate seating (it was early...5:45 or so?). Next time I'll call the restaurant direct.

The service was good...food was great! Boat service is erratic at best...I'd walk or drive.

We love the food and atmoshere at Olivia's ! They treated my ill mil so kindly there one time---really went out of their way for her. I believe I've had breakfast there as late as 10:30--11 am. Once we had lunch there and we were one of three other parties in the restaurant---got star treatment. I've never had dinner there---yet ! :D I still remember the days of the character breakfasts there---we used to love that.

We have eaten at Olivia's several times for lunch and dinner...I find the CM to be very friendly and the food simple and delish...They have such great chef specials I don't think I have ever ordered off the menu...Never had a bad meal or poor service there! :teeth:
