Older Toddler Nursling WDW?

First i wanted to say Congrats on extended nursing!!!!! I nursed my youngest for the longest..she actually weaned herself in WDW (our second day there) last August at 21 1/2 months :(...i was so sad, and in SO MUCH pain...lol
Have a great trip!!!

Two of my cousins did the same thing with their sons. They were both around 18 months, and nursed to go to bed. They were so tired and off their schedule they were just falling asleep. However, I can see this backfiring with them getting tired inthe park and crawling up your shirt!
I should have mentioned that the moms were READY to have them wean. I would not worry about it happening unless you plan on stopping.

Congrats on extended nursing! My older dd nursed until she was 30 mos. and my youngest dd (born Jan.30th 2008) is nursing now.

When we went to WDW, my dd was nursing and was 25 months. She only nursed at nap and bedtimes, she was too interested in everything else going on to ask any other time. But it worked like a charm to get her to calm down & fall asleep when she was tired!
Have a great trip!

Thanks for all the replies! When this first posted, it went pretty slow for a few hours and I thought "OMG am I then only EBF Disney person out there!" LOL. Guess not! Great to see all of you nursing your little ones.

As obvious as it may be, I had never considered nursing her during an attraction! That is a great suggestion. We are travelling with a group of 7, and I didnt want to make everyone stop while I nursed her, especially since my mom thinks I am just nuts to still be nursing :confused3 I had the nursing in the sling down when she was smaller, but as tall and big as she is now, I cant get the angle right, and since she doesnt really NIP anymore, I havent tried to really get it to work again.

I am so darn excited about this trip! 2 weeks 6 days!

In my experience, my son (as a toddler) did not ask except in the room at night, unless, like you said, he was REALLY tired out in the evening hours (dark out, etc.). At those times, I would simply head to a secluded spot or the baby care center, nurse him for the two minutes it took him to fall asleep (LOL), then put him in the stroller to sleep while I shopped. :woohoo: He is almost 3.5 now and still nurses at least once per day (sometimes it's 3 or more times), but never asks unless it is bedtime or he is really upset. I did not find it to be an issue at all on our last trip (January).

I nursed DD until 3.5 and we went to WDW about a month before she weaned. At that point, she was nursing am and pm. It never even crossed her mind to nurse at other times...way too much going on and, TBH, NIP at that age would have been past my comfort zone (but I totally support other moms NIP as long as they feel comfortable :thumbsup2 ). When I took DD at 13 months, I let her nurse whenever she needed to and even then I think it was just obce a day in the parks.

My DS1 did wean at Disney when he was 21 months, but I was pg and my milk supply was changing anyway. He was only nursing to sleep and was out before we made it back to the room every night.

Now DS2 nursed at 22 months at Disney last summer and is still nursing 2x a day now at 32 months (not pg this time!) with no signs of stopping. He tells me he loves his num-nums :goodvibes

My DD was 2.5 last Sept for our trip and was still nursing in the morning and at night before bed. She also nursed to sleep for naps.

At the parks, for naps, she usually would just fall asleep when she was tired, but sometimes, if she were extra cranky, she would need that "nursey" to get her to sleep. We just found a quiet place (once we did use a nursing room at the babycare center), or a dark ride, and in 2 minutes, she was out.

At night, she usually held on until we got to the room (though she did fall asleep a couple of times on the bus, and once or twice I actually nursed her on the bus on the way back to Pop, after the driver turned off the lights.

She's still going strong with the before bedtime nursing, though she tells me that when she's three she won't need nursies anymore.....we'll see. Who knows...maybe she'll still be going strong this Sept?? Okay...I have to admit that I'm hoping she's done by then. We've had a good go, and I wouldn't trade our nursing relationship for anything...no regrets!...however, it would be kind of nice to have 'the girls' back to myself again. I'm sure when the day comes, I'll shed a few tears that it's over, though.

Kudos to all of you moms for your extended nursing!

:cheer2: I just wanted to say hoorah for all the nursing toddlers!! Maybe we will see some nursing mama's there when we go!

Sorry for butting in here, I'm a guy :), but I just wanted to say awesome job for all of you "past 6 months" nursing mom's. My wife nursed our DD until she was just over 36 months old. I truly think it was the greatest gift she\we could have ever given her!

We plan on doing things the same way with our second one, due to become the latest Disney fanatic, sometime this October! :goodvibes

She was sitting on a bench in toontown hall (air conditioned) wearing a sundress (No bra) and completely pulled down the top of the dress exposing herself. She yelled at the person who stepped in front of her that she was GOING to feed her baby. The baby was in the stroller :confused3

:scared1: Ok, I'm sorry, but I do have to say something here. (Flame suit on). I don't have a problem with people nursing their toddlers because I do feel it is their choice, however it is also my choice to not have my toddler see exposed adults in public (no matter the reason). I'm NOT saying that every mom that nurses is exposing themselves, and I DO agree that you can nurse wherever you want, I'm just saying to please be respectful of others while in public. If you don't want to use a blanket or wear a nursing shirt, then please find a more discreat location. I did nurse my children when they were infants, so I do know that there are nursing tanks out there that cover you. I can look away if I don't want to see something, however there is a chance my toddler will see the exposed adult and that is what I have a problem with. NOT the nursing, but the exposing as mentioned in the quote above. This isn't meant to offend anyone, and if you aren't like the woman in the quote above, then it probably doesn't apply to you. Like I said, I don't have a problem with people nursing in public, just people exposing themselves in public. Thanks for listening.

I don't think anything you said was offensive mamalori. I nursed my children til about 11 months. They both self weaned. I remember with my last one, it was a very sad day.

I'm so impressed with all the nursing! I nursed my DD until she weaned herself around 11 months. Sometimes I still miss it.

You are not butting in! It's not just a thread for the moms of nursing toddlers, just a thread for those who have experienced nursing toddlers:thumbsup2

Thanks for the comments!:goodvibes
