That one is so pretty, it's a shame that they won't/can't make it some type of dining place.
At some point I could have sworn I read someplace that they were considering making that into a small, fancy sit-down resturaunt. That was shortly after the Skyway closed. I guess those plans were abandoned. Too bad, I also would have loved to see a food place there.

MK could definitely benefit from another table service restaurant! Something along the lines of the one I read about at DL, Blue Bayou I think? Doesn't have to be super fancy, just nice sandwiches and salads would do. If I have to eat another burger from CosmicRays or Pecos Bill's .

I rode on the Skyway in 1996, at sunset. I wish I had taken pictures now . . . I rode from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland, and it was just amazing. You could see EVERYTHING!

I'm looking for, but can't find yet, pictures from Legend of the Lion King that I took when I was young and stupid and used flash photography in the theater. Sorry to anyone I blinded!

I have received many wonderful sites with old wdw attractions.
Thank You.
I was trying to find where I had read it but, does anyone know about a relic from an old attraction that is over the window or door frame in the tree in Pooh's new playground?
Know I read it some where ...just can't find it.
Thx,
SleepyJ

Some of the other rides that have not yet been mentioned are Mike Fink's Keel Boats, which loaded right in front of the entrance to the Haunted Mansion, the Diamond Horseshoe Revue (which was a great live vaudeville act), Mission to Mars (yawn)...I think this used to be in the Stitch building but I can't remember for sure, and If You Had Wings where Buzz is now. There was also another attraction where Mickey's Philharmagic is now prior to it being the Legend of the Lion King. It was a movie attraction that featured clips from Fantasia and the Three Caballeros, but I can't remember what is was called. Those were the days of ticket coupon booklets and A-E attractions.

QTPooh, that was the Mickey Mouse Revue. I came across pictures from my first trip there in '71. I had completely forgotten it but based on my description someone here told me the title. It's featured on the site Mr.Belding mentions.

I want to say that I read that the Nautilus (sub from 20,000 Leagues) was inside the tree in Pooh's Playful Spot.

I could be wrong though!

The main reason the Skyway rides were closed in both parks is that local laws required that attractions be accessible to the handicapped. Orange County, CA was ahead of Orange County, Florida in the requirements. There was something to do with any major rehab, would mean that the "ride" would also need to be made accessible to HP.

The way the equipment was designed, it did not allow for a stoppage- it was in continuous motion. There was no way to pause for the loading of passengers who could not get in quickly. Maybe with some research and developement Disney could have overcome the problem, but it was decided very quickly to simply dismantle the attraction rather than spend the money.

Another factor that played an irritant to Disney execs was the fact the teens riding in the buckets would often spit on people and throw things.

DL closed the Skyway before the guy died in WDW. It was an easy scapegoat for FL park officials...

Esh...Eisner closed so much...But he also created a lot... I'm eagar to see where Disney goes over the next ten years...Very eagar... :goodvibes

I know I'm new at this but I thought there would be a much larger interest in old WDW attractions than I have found.
I have found pics and other info that I will be posting to try to get this thread moving along and also to a larger audience.
Any help is appreciated.

thanks to you all..

Interesting, but there are some rides now that are not handicap accessible...what would make the 'rules' different for one ride?
