Old Ticket Media

I was going through my files recently and found WDW tickets!

I found six four-day hopper passes from April 1999. These are paper tickets with a magnetic stripe on them. There is no picture or name on any of them, but there are several code numbers on the back. There were three adult, one child, and two adult tickets with different codes (possibly senior discounted). These are from a trip I made then with my parents and soon to be family.

1) Is there a way to find out how many unused days are on my tickets before my trip in November?

2) I talked with a CM at the CRO who said that the turnstiles still accept this media. Is this true? If so, how would I take advantage of the Fastpass system?

3) If I use a senior-discounted ticket going through the turnstiles (I am clearly not a senior citizen), will a senior-discounted paper/magnetic stripe type ticket raise eyebrows?

I don't know about questions 2 and 3, but I can help with question 1. The only way to find out how many days are left is to take the tickets to the front gate and have them scanned. I have 2 tickets my grandmother gave me for our upcoming trip, and when I asked on the boards, that was the answer given.

Best of luck.

You might have to go to guest relations at a park. In any case, free days are great:earsboy:

Unfortunately, no. The only way to find out is to take them to Guest Relations in the park.

Yes, they do. If the ticket goes through the turnstile, it will go through the Fastpass machine as well. Or ... you can take the tickets to Guest Relations and have them exchanged for current ticket media.

There is not, nor has there ever been, a senior citizen discount at Disney. Perhaps in the very early years, but definitely not in 1999. Chances are, the numbers are different because of the ticket batch or when they were purchased or where or maybe a coupon or special of some sort was used. If there's any restriction on them, they'll tell you at Guest Relations.

No there is no way you can tell how many days are left.

If it were me, I would exchange them for the current media. That way you're sure they work and there is no room for confusion or lost time. And don't believe the CM's just because they're CM's.

My brother asked the CM at their resort if they had to change their tickets (the old ones with the pictures) and they said no. So, they were waiting in line to get in (MK of all places and yes right before our Cinderlla breakfast) when I said, you need to change them. "No, the guy at the hotel said they were fine". No you need to change them. Well he said they were ok so we're not going to bother. When they tried walking in and guess what - Aunt Jen was right!! It took them about 15 -20 minutes for them to trade their tickets and we almost missed our PS at CRT!

I would imagine that tickets from '99 would be fine. We went a few months ago and used old tickets from '95. We made sure there were days left on them at the TTC and asked if we needed new ones and the CM there said no, and sure enough they worked just fine. Of course I would still ask about yours to make sure. One bit of advice: if you happen to be like us and go to DTD on your first night to relax after the trip, you can have them checked there. This will save some waiting in lines as the lines are usually pretty short there.
