OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

So excited. Bob and I just booked a 7 night Disney cruise on the Fantasy leaving 9/22/12. So I won't be at work on 9/23 and 9/24.

Yay for you and Bob!!

Boo for us! :sad1: We arrive on 9/21, so unless you have to work on Friday, we'll miss you this trip....or I could always add 2 more to our dinner ressie at Captain's Grille that evening. ;) I'll just have to leave a package for you at the desk with some Tastycakes to enjoy when you get back. Hope you have a wonderful trip! I think we've finally decided that we're doing a Disney cruise next summer, with maybe a couple of days at BC.

Cindy

Hey Cindy, thanks for the invite to dinner. If we didn't live 31 miles away from the Y&B, we'd love to join you. I imagine we'll be busy packing Friday night.

Maybe we'll be on the same cruise next summer. We will probably do one .. it will definitely be a 7 nighter though. What month are you thinking about?

So, my family is booked in a GV CL room. The only thing I really care about is a full balcony. I read that all the GV CL rooms have a full balcony so would you do on line check in?
The other two families are booked in regular GV rooms. They want connecting doors and one would like a full balcony. Should I tell them not to do online? Our flight gets to MCO at 9:30am, so we should arrive at BC around 10:30/11:00am by ME. (on Wednesday 8/15 if that matters).
I'd love for one room to be ready when we check in, but I know that's not a guarantee. I just checked our dates and it looks like BC may be fully booked (or close to it). :scared1:

DO NOT DO ON-LINE CHECK IN! The fact that you are CL means that you get your own "personal" check in while you lounge in the lounge on the 5th floor. They meet you at the front door and wisk you on your own personal elevator up to do the check in while you sit back and relax with a hoty-totty (black coffee that time of the morning). I would also suggest the other two families not do on-line check in so that they can ask the folks at the reservation desk if their rooms are connecting and if one has the full monty. The beauty of on-line check in is "grab and go". If you end up standing and talking it just reduces that experience and frustrates those behind you who want to get their Disney vacation started in a hurry.

11 days for me, Bob, Jeanne and the Princess herself.

I'm almost done taking everything waist high and below and putting it in the spare room away from grabbing hands. The house looks empty.

The crib is set up and in our room (the only place it fits). Bob keeps looking at it and shaking his head.

Now tell Bob he has to crawl around and make sure everything is out of reach for the BC/YC Princess! You are going to have so much fun! Wish I could be there to see Lily at SAB. Enjoy & take pictures for us to see.

You can certainly do an on-line check-in but I would recommend the other families not do one since they really want connecting and one full balcony. They will definitely want to talk to the CM at check-in. Tell them if what they want is not available on the day they check-in, they can always ask for a room change the next day if what they want is available then.

Also, please keep in mind that since you are CL and the other two rooms are not, your friends won't be able to use the fifth floor. I don't know if you all have children coming with you or not. Sometimes it's hard to have one set of kids up on 5 running around with all the sodas and snacks and other goodies and the others not on CL not having that access. We've had problems in the past with this and it's really hard to try to explain to children why some can get the goodies and others can't. The poor kids don't understand why CMs are telling them they can't use the lounge when their friends can. We hate tears:sad:. So if your room is ready and the others are not, technically your friends are not suppose to go up to the fifth floor to use your CL facilities.

There are lockers and showers in the health club that you all can use and of course you can keep things with bell services and you can have easy access throughout the day to anything bell services is holding for you.

If we are full or close to full, it's a long shot that any rooms will be available much before 3 PM but you never know. One of you might get lucky and have a room assigned to you where the person that day had a 5 AM flight and they checked out real real early.

My it's amazing what a difference a year can make. Enjoy!

Isn't that the truth!!!!! This time last year the kidney stones were attacking thanks to the radiation and my addiction to iced tea.

P.S. I'm totally on lemonade now and only have iced tea when we go out to dinner and on Disney cruises. Love Disney iced tea!

Can it really be only 20 days til our trip??!! :cheer2: I have to get packing!!! We've been having a garage sale the last few days and we made enough to book an Illuminations Cruise, BBB for DD and Pirates League for DS!! It's going to be such a fun vacation this year. I planned a little differently than normal this year so that we could slow the pace and just enjoy the little moments more. We also have lots more pool/resort time built in for the kiddos at SAB - can't wait for them to see that pool! Safe travels to everyone leaving soon.

See you soon!! Sounds wonderful. I did the Illuminations Cruise a long long time ago. Really loved it. Enjoy!!! Some day I hope to do another one too!

We started on our "short sale" last Sept. About 10 days ago everything got approved and then a week ago, it all went south.:sad2: Things looked better earlier this week, cautiously optomistic, today we are waiting for the sellers to sign. We should know by tonight. After celebrating once, crying twice, today I am sitting back making autograph cards and reading the DIS. We are supposed to settle one week before we go to Disney. It needs painting and carpeting so that can be done while we are away and hopefully we can move when we return home. :thumbsup2 As you said, there is nothing short about a short sale.:lmao: Best of Luck, Penny

Penny - sorry to you're going through this same drama! It is nothing less than frustrating but will be worth it in the end. We are still waiting for something in writing from bank so we can schedule inspection/our loan paperwork.....agents on our side seem to have no concept of time - they would never be able to manage a trip to Disney!! :) Good Luck on your home and keep me posted.
-Tammy

It's so nice to hear about how better you are feeling now. :thumbsup2
How have your feet been holding up? Did your time off and vacation help ease the pain?

Teena - how exciting to have booked another cruise!

We are traveling with friends in December, who are considering booking club level. We are DVC, so we'll be at the villas. Does this mean that we would not be able to visit our friends in their room? We know that the food/lounge is reserved for those on club level, but is the whole floor (their room) off limits too?

We actually did do online check in for our GV CL room. I have to say it made check in so quick. We still did everything upstairs (when we got there the CM who met our cab just grabbed the packet before we went upstairs). It did not take away from the experience of check in at all but it was much quicker. We stay CR CL and check in took us over 30 minutes. With online check in it was like 5-10 and that included checking to see if they could get us a room that was ready. The rest of the family got to enjoy breakfast while I took care of the stuff. It was perfect and we were on our way to DHS super fast!

Thanks Teena - I'm definitely hoping to stop by and meet you in person! DH and I were last at YC in 2010 and unfortunately you were sick the day we came through to say hello :( so we will try again this year! I'm really glad we could do the Illuminations Cruise again - it's pricey but DH and I did it for our 10th Anniv and it was just such a nice way to enjoy the show and our Captain Jody was so sweet. This year we are celebrating #15 but this time with the kiddos and Gma (my MIL). Both of our children were born in August as well as our Anniversary so it's the perfect month for a Disney trip! :goodvibes

OK, we leave before dawn on Wednesday for the airport.

I've just finished 4 loads of laundry. The kids have my official OK to begin packing. :) (Of course, tomorrow when my youngest is out on her friend's boat, I have every intention of checking her suitcase!!)

You too?!! I usually lay out 15 or so "acceptable" outfits and then let my DD choose a # to take so she feels like she gets to make the decision, but they are still approved by mom :lmao:
