OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

27 days until we leave and I just got in the mood to CHANGE all our ADRs!!! :crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2:

After reading Teena's review of Cape May I think we should cancel it. Here is what we have:

Cape May - thinking about doing Beaches n Cream that night instead
Ohana - thinking about changing to Crystal Palace or Tony's
Le Cellier - probably keeping this one
Narcoosee's - thinking about changing to Yachtsmen's Steakhouse
Teppen Edo - thinking about changing to Nine Dragons

Also thinking about adding Coral Reef.

I am crazy!!!!!!!!!!!! :joker::joker::joker::joker::joker:

Dh and I just had a fabulous meal at the Yachtsman. Go there. Oh and how about Flying Fish ?

We love Yachtsman! I've been to both Yachtsman and Narcoosee's and would definitely recommend Yachtsman (not just my YC/BC bias - I really prefer it!)

Thanks for the tips and advice everyone :) I hadn't thought of Flying Fish, we haven't eaten there in years. I guess we will probably keep Ohana, but we just ate there in March so I'm not too excited for it. I use to love Kona Grill but the last two times we ate there it was bad. Anyone been recently? Isn't it CRAZY we have to think months in advance about where we want to eat??? I miss the old days when you could just walk into a restaurant whenever you felt like it. I mean sometimes you just don't really know what you'll be in the mood for! ::yes::

Teppen Edo is another one we've already done twice this year, we haven't been to Nine Dragons in probably about 5-6 years so I was thinking it might be a nice change. Has anyone had any good meals at the Swan/Dolphin lately???

Dropping Le Cellier would definitely make room for Narcoosee's and Yachtsmen, hmmmmm, that's a possibility. :scratchin

Teena, we are seafood people, we would be going to Cape May specifically for that, so would you think we might like it???

If you like crab legs, steamed clams and steamed mussels, you'll love it.

I'm in just checking in in to let y'all know i'm at Great Wolf Lodge, which is a hotel/water park resort with theming like the Wilderness lodge...... so i'm having some major Deja Vu! I've taken to calling this place the "Wolf–derness Lodge"!! We have our Fresh Air Fund camper for the next 2 weeks so we are in major party mode. I still have to take it easy with my recovery but let me tell you there is nothing like being around kids to put a wag in your tail!

We have one not far from us and I really want to go so bad! Have a great time!!

I agree, we are seafood people and did not even notice the ribs missing (DD was so focused on the HUGE amount of crab she ate). If you like seafood you will like Cape May

Hello! We check in in about 10 days! :cool1: And, due to some last-minute Adr changes, I think I'll be able to at least drop in for the BC meet! :thumbsup2

We went to GWL in 2008, and my kids are still talking about it!!! Have fun!

Yes, love the old days when we'd walk up to the kiosk in Epcot to make our same-day reservations on that little screen!

As for meals at the Swan/Dolphin, we love bluezoo and Il Mulino - we tried both during separate WDW visits last year! They aren't on our regular rotation ONLY because our boys have so many "favorites" now that it's hard to fit them all in each time. And our love for Illuminations keeps us in World Showcase for dinner more often than not!

And not crazy to think about this so far in advance - at least not in our family! We're booking a "last-minute" trip for MNSSHP in early October and I just can't get the ADRs I want. Oh well, better luck for our January 2013 trip - ADR booking window opens just a week from tomorrow!

Currently it's been reported that the BC is switching over to a R.F.I.D room key and that eventually Disney will be offering an R.F.I.D bracelet . Great Wolf lodge is using the bracelets as room keys and let me say I LOVE the convience. I can't wait for Disney to switch over to this system and I'm glad BC/YC is leading the charge.

In other news it's now 11pm and I've declared a cease fire in the massive pillow fight we've been having. However since Mom always gets the "last word" I've warned all the perpetrators to sleep with one eye open. Revenge is a dish best served cold and I've got some cooking to do tonight. All the clean Underwear may be mysteriously dissapearing when the sandman comes....

My DH is a steak lover. We have been to Yachtsman's twice and both times we weren't happy with our meal. Oddly enough I have gone another time with a girlfriend and my Filet was outstanding. That was how I convinced my DH to try it again (the 2nd time) and it was a let down. We are staying at BCV and are looking for a great strip steak for him and filet for me. Any recommendations (other than Yachtsman?). Thanks so much, :thumbsup2 Penny

This is another vote for Le Cellier. The best steak we had in our trip at the end of June. Kids were practically asleep in their chairs but the food was great.

I also think you should drop Le Cellier, we had an awful meal there last trip. It went to signature and just didn't think it was worth the credits! The cut of meat was bad, the flavors were only ok.

We had a good meal at Yachtsmen, only complaint was my steak was a little too done for my liking.

Flying fish is the place I recommend to EVERYONE I talk to! Our meal was fabulous, from the wine flights, the food, the service, everything. We regretted going to Le Cellier instead of going back to flying fish for z second meal! And if your steak people, my hubby claimed the steak from there was the best steak he had all week!!

My sister has been to the GWL by us several times and raves about it!

Ha! You never fail to make me laugh!

I am happy to announce that as of this very moment our August trip is PAID IN FULL!!!

My poor daughter was horrified when I did my World Famous "Paid In Full" dance!!

Wanted to share my excitement with all of my Beach Club friends!!

Can I get a WOOOOO HOOOOO!!

Jay

Oooh, good for you, Jakeybake. Mine is, too! Now, if I could just find a way to pay off the Disney VISA I used to pay off the trip!! :)

The Mickey T-shirt activity is making a tie-dye Mickey t-shirt (with the Hidden Mickey outline in the center). The recreation CMs have already rubber banded the t-shirt for that particular design. You get to pick your colors and apply them to the shirt. DD8 did it last September and it was $17.95. I helped her with it, it was a lot of fun, and her shirt turned out to be very cute. I saw mostly kids doing it, some with parents, but I think that anyone could do it. They wrap your shirt in plastic wrap then put it in a ziploc bag for you. When you get home, you just have to rinse it out and wash it. The longer the color stays on the shirt, the more intense it is. We charged it to the room on our KTTW card and it showed up as babysitting charges. :confused3 I would definitely recommend it.

I'll try to post a pic later.

Do you wait to get to your home home or your Disney hotel room home? Knowing this will help us decide on which day to make the shirt. Do they have adult sizes? My thirteen year old DD would love to do this, but she wears an adult sized shirt.

Thanks!

I use my debit card and pay online weekly so it doesn't hurt as much! Feels less painful that way!!

I totally dropped off the boards yesterday. I did some errands, including a trip to Joanns to get some supplies to make t-shirts for our trip. I'll have to post a pic later if anyone is interested in seeing the one I made.

But I'm also all wrapped up in this book that I'm reading and I can't put it down. If I wasn't at work right now (shh...don't tell them I'm on the DIS), I'd probably be reading it still.

We will arrive July 21, four of us, but only three going to the four major parks, for five days. (I will get a 1-day Epcot ticket.) I did not package tickets with the room at Beach Club because you have to purchase them for everybody in the room. With purchasing tickets separately, I didn't like to get them early in case we had to cancel the trip for some reason. I will buy 5-day ones, with the park hopper, for the three other guys.

Would you wait until you get there to buy them, or would you order them, and pick up at "Will Call" in Epcot? Do you know where the pick-up area is at Epcot, in relation to the entrance closest to the Beach Club? Thanks so, so much!

Ooh! Do share, I'm always looking for a new book to read.

(And don't feel bad, between losing power and cleaning up after the storm(s), I've been off the DIS for over a week now!) Totally lost on my part. :goodvibes

Hey guys! I'm looking for a bit of help, I've booked two nights at the YC as a surprise to celebrate mine and DBF's anniversary. We are staying in Orlando for 16 nights but off property for the majority. I am trying to think of a cute way to surprise dbf with the yacht club stay. Should I write it in the card for his anniversary? Or do something more special? Has anyone taken someone to YC as a surprise before?
