OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

our kids love the pool activities. when we were there in march both boys got a chance to call Simon Says (mickey says) and also my youngest won musical chairs and did karoke. :)

Here's DD8's finished Mickey tie-dye that she made at SAB last September.

That's awesome! the ones my kids made a few years ago at the pool were with puffy paint and stencils of different disney characters, i like this better!

We arrived yesterday (Sunday) and meet the famous Teena. It was exciting to see the live person that answers so many questions. I hugged her when we meet because I felt I already knew her. My daughter (12 - at the age mom is just so embarrasing) asked why did you hug that lady. I explained that I just felt I knew her. She is as kind and warm as everybody has written. Our first day was great! Lunch at Le Cellier, then a swim and off to MK after the early evening thunder storm (lasted less than an hour). It was EMH so we stayed at the park until 2:00 a.m. The park was terrific we arrived around 7:00 and never waited more than 20 minutes for a ride. I was so happy that the crowd level was so low and the weather managable. We just happened upon the fireworks when we were behind the castle. They seemed as if they were exploding over our heads, really cool. Then we ate and when we came out the electrical light parade was just beginning. There happened to be seats on the sidewalk right where we were. It was a truly magical day!
We did not wake up until noon today and now the kids and DH are swimming. Tonight we plan on taking advantage of the EMH at HS. It is easy for us to stay up late since we have just kept our west coast hours. Tomorrow is late EMH at epcot, I guess after that we will have to start adjusting to east coast time.
We are really enjoying the resort and feel so blessed to be having this experience. It is my girls (12 &14) first trip to WDW and my DH and my first trip in 20 years.

Teena, they got a real kid out of you getting the balloon down from the ceiling by using your balloon with tape. Very clever!

How wonderful to hear that you had such a magical start to your trip. Isn't the Beach Club the best? :goodvibes

I'm thinking about placing an order w/ Garden Grocer for my August BC trip. Have any of you used them? I've never done it, and I have a few questions...

I'm looking mostly at some snacks & breakfast foods. When you keep food in your room, what do you keep the non-refridgerated stuff in? I would think everything would need to be sealed up (but I'm imagining my messy daughter w/ food stuff strewn throughout the room!). Dh is interested in ordering some beer. The beer page on the GG website says "must present ID"- does this mean they won't leave your delivery order w/ bell services? He's also wondering if he can take beer (no bottles, of course) to the SAB area.

Also, the prices on the GG website are pretty high- are they better than the prices at the Marketplace, or do you think they're similar?

Thanks for any tips you can give!

I have used "personal Disney shopper" off Facebook and she is great. She doesn't have a minimum you have to spend, like Garden Grocer, and she charges what the grocery store charges plus 20% and a $10 delivery fee. I found her to be a better deal than the higher prices charged by GG. She will deliver alcohol too.

We are on vacation :cool1: this week and I am using this time to fully immerse myself in Disney, prepping for our trip next month (don't ask how I pulled off two vacations a month from one another). I'm researching the various apps and it seems like mobile magic only gives actual wait times if you are in the parks? I think I recall seeing someone post they could check the times to Epcot from BC/YC because of their close proximity? Thanks!

Can't answer all of these questions but you can take beer (not bottles) with you to the pool. I see people doing it all the time. Also, prices in the Marketplace for beer is super super high.

Some guests walk to the Hess Gas Station (across from the Boardwalk entrance), buy beer and snacks and water there and take a cab back. They say the beer price there is high but not as high as GG and the Marketplace.

Other guests take the bus to Downtown Disney, catch a cab to Walmart (have no idea of price), buy everything they want, take a cab back to Downtown Disney, jump on the bus back to the Beach Club. That sounds like a day long trip so I'd never go that route.

Some guests rent a car for the day at the Swan and Dolphin. They drive to the Super Target on 192, get everything they need (like cases of water for $3.99, beer, wine, etc.), use the car that day and then return it next day to Swan and Dolphin. Depending on the deal they get, they say the cost of the car is about the same as the money they save on buying the water and beer, wine, etc.

Wow! You miss a few days and there are pages to read!

Dee - your son is very creative! How difficult it must have been to see his brother and Mom take a trip without him.

Teena - great pics of your vacation. Looks like a wonderful time. And Lily is looking adorable!

Isn't it CRAZY we have to think months in advance about where we want to eat??? I miss the old days when you could just walk into a restaurant whenever you felt like it. I mean sometimes you just don't really know what you'll be in the mood for! ::yes::

Teena, we are seafood people, we would be going to Cape May specifically for that, so would you think we might like it???
It is totally crazy! I am constantly changing my ADRs. This time we are headed down with another family and I am trying really hard to stick with our ADRs. It's much harder to find reservations for 7 instead of our usual 4.

Here's DD8's finished Mickey tie-dye that she made at SAB last September.

Cute shirt!

We ordered from GG for the first time last trip and it was great. They were great with service and communication. They have a much bigger selection than the marketplace and price was better. We ordered water, Greek yogurt, chex mix, fruit, cereal. We loved this service and we got 32 bottles of water for like $7. Disney prices would be like $80! So we definitely saved by ordering

So many people have asked me questions about Elk Mountain Ranch and after talking to them I already know 3 families that have booked for next summer. I so wish I had done it years ago when Jeanne was younger!! Not that she didn't have a wonderful time now but I would have loved to have seen her there as a 10 or 12 year old! She said she will do everything in her power to take Lily there when she's older.

We've used Garden Grocer multiple times & it's been great. By the time we land (we fly) I have a message on my phone stating that they've dropped off our goods at the resort. And you just call bell service to deliver it to your room once you get in. As for where to put it all, I'm not sure about BC because this will be our first stay there (sept.), in the past we were at Poly & stored it where the coffee pot was between closets. Also to close the chip bags I used hair clips that I brought with us or you could bring clothes pins, etc for that. We've never ordered beer or anything like that so I can't answer that question. But the pre-popped popcorn in the large bags are yummy! I would recommend G.G. We'll be using them again. Hope you have a wonderfully magical trip!

So I just found this out and had to share with someone and since it does kind of effect our trip why now share here...

DBF has a full time job!! :cheer2:

He had been applying to every job he was qualified for since moving to PA last September and a company he's been independently contracting at offered him a full time position!

This means we may be able to splurge a little while we're on vacation now! I also think he might get in the mood to hear me talk about what I want to do while down there a little more now since he won't be too worried about his finances now.

Now I just need the next 4 months go a little faster so I can be in Disney

Garden Grocer questions - we've used them several times.
We ordered mostly breakfast foods, drinks, some snacks, detergent and dryer sheets and toiletries.

If we were driving I would pack those large clear plastic under the bed boxes to put the things in. If we were flying I just stored them in the shelves under the double sink. My kids were old enough not to make a mess!

DH did order beer. If you are planning on taking it down to the pool I would suggest you order cans as bottles are not allowed by the pool.

We never had a problem with GG and thought they did a great job!

HTH

Kjay, we have ordered beer and wine from GG on our last 2 trips and have not had to show an ID. Both times our order was left with bell services and we just called when we got to our room and they brought it up to us.

We have had great service from GG.

I'm in the middle of packing and cleaning but I just can't stay away from these boards! Seriously I think I have a problem. MickeyT right there with you - I check the boards before I even check my email!

I can't believe we leave in 4 days. Have to finish packing, super cleaning, take the dog to the groomers (my older kids are taking turns dog sitting but I don't think they are up to the daily brushing that I do!), have an appointment Friday for my "spa day" and oh yeah, it the middle of all this we are still finishing re-doing DD's room. Our bedroom has all the "leftover" stuff from her room and we are having a new mattress delivered today so I feel like I am living in bedroom chaos! Oh boy I can't wait to get away!!!!

I have 28 days to go and am now starting to pack and organize for our trip!!!:cool1: I mean it is probably too early to start, but packing for 4 people means I need to start early!!!:upsidedow

Happy Vacation vibes to anyone at the BC/YC this week pixiedust:
