OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Ooh! Do share, I'm always looking for a new book to read.

(And don't feel bad, between losing power and cleaning up after the storm(s), I've been off the DIS for over a week now!) Totally lost on my part. :goodvibes

I'm actually reading the 2nd in the series. The first is No Turning Back and the 2nd is Turn to Me. They are by a new author, Tiffany A. Snow. While there is a romance, they're definitely filled with intrigue and suspense, murder and all kinds of good stuff.

So this is how addicted I am to this book. I was thinking that I'd go for a shorter walk than usual during my lunch hour and then I'd stopped to sit and read. Only problem, I actually need to go get some lunch because I left my lunch in my car this morning, because I was so engrossed in reading while I was waiting for my train this morning that I forgot to grab my lunch before I got out of the car. And now I'm totally forgetting that I'm going to need to eat because all I can think about is this book.

We will arrive July 21, four of us, but only three going to the four major parks, for five days. (I will get a 1-day Epcot ticket.) I did not package tickets with the room at Beach Club because you have to purchase them for everybody in the room. With purchasing tickets separately, I didn't like to get them early in case we had to cancel the trip for some reason. I will buy 5-day ones, with the park hopper, for the three other guys.

Would you wait until you get there to buy them, or would you order them, and pick up at "Will Call" in Epcot? Do you know where the pick-up area is at Epcot, in relation to the entrance closest to the Beach Club? Thanks so, so much!

I would just wait until I get there.

BTW if you are around we're having our Third Annual BC/YC Dis Meet on SUnday, July 22 at 6:30 pm in the Beach Club Solarium. Hope you can join us!

Currently it's been reported that the BC is switching over to a R.F.I.D room key and that eventually Disney will be offering an R.F.I.D bracelet . Great Wolf lodge is using the bracelets as room keys and let me say I LOVE the convience. I can't wait for Disney to switch over to this system and I'm glad BC/YC is leading the charge.

I was surprised that they didn't have these bracelets at Disney before now - they had them at GWL in 2008. I know it's a waaaay bigger project for Disney now! LOL They are SO convenient. No worries about losing your tickets, or the kids losing them... Also, no worries about having your card at the pool or someone else taking it. It was a little dangerous just waving your wrist to get a margarita though! :rotfl: It would be great for SAB since you wouldn't have to get a separate wristband. I guess people could choose not to wear them, and keep them in their purses like the cards. I hope that they are in full swing at the BC and the parks when we go back!

Hey guys! I'm looking for a bit of help, I've booked two nights at the YC as a surprise to celebrate mine and DBF's anniversary. We are staying in Orlando for 16 nights but off property for the majority. I am trying to think of a cute way to surprise dbf with the yacht club stay. Should I write it in the card for his anniversary? Or do something more special? Has anyone taken someone to YC as a surprise before?

No, but how lovely!!! Maybe print out a picture of the YC and put it in the card with "Surprise" on the top??? Or make the card like an invitation to the YC? Anyway, someone else will have better ideas, just wanted to say what an awesome gift.

Do you have a AAA office by you? Might check the pricing there and see if you can get the AAA discounted price (if they are still doing that). As far as "will call", I'm thinking that if you order them on-line you will get them wiith your Key to the World card when you register. If not, check with the concierge desk. If not there, then there is a help window at the International Gate entering Epcot's World Showcase where you can get them.

We arrived yesterday (Sunday) and meet the famous Teena. It was exciting to see the live person that answers so many questions. I hugged her when we meet because I felt I already knew her. My daughter (12 - at the age mom is just so embarrasing) asked why did you hug that lady. I explained that I just felt I knew her. She is as kind and warm as everybody has written. Our first day was great! Lunch at Le Cellier, then a swim and off to MK after the early evening thunder storm (lasted less than an hour). It was EMH so we stayed at the park until 2:00 a.m. The park was terrific we arrived around 7:00 and never waited more than 20 minutes for a ride. I was so happy that the crowd level was so low and the weather managable. We just happened upon the fireworks when we were behind the castle. They seemed as if they were exploding over our heads, really cool. Then we ate and when we came out the electrical light parade was just beginning. There happened to be seats on the sidewalk right where we were. It was a truly magical day!
We did not wake up until noon today and now the kids and DH are swimming. Tonight we plan on taking advantage of the EMH at HS. It is easy for us to stay up late since we have just kept our west coast hours. Tomorrow is late EMH at epcot, I guess after that we will have to start adjusting to east coast time.
We are really enjoying the resort and feel so blessed to be having this experience. It is my girls (12 &14) first trip to WDW and my DH and my first trip in 20 years.

Teena, they got a real kid out of you getting the balloon down from the ceiling by using your balloon with tape. Very clever!

I'm getting pretty excited. We were in town last week so we decided to stop by and tour the resort. Its even better than I was expecting, we loved the pool and the little beach! We even went up to the desk and asked if we could see a room, then someone took us up and showed us 3 rooms. It was great!

Not sure how it would work with luggage, but it would pretty neat if you could get him to the resort thinking you had dining reservations and check in instead!

Do you wait to get to your home home or your Disney hotel room home? Knowing this will help us decide on which day to make the shirt. Do they have adult sizes? My thirteen year old DD would love to do this, but she wears an adult sized shirt.

We waited til we were home home to take it out of it's packaging and do the rinse and wash.....I think we did it on Wednesday or Thursday and it stayed in the ziplock bag for several days.....I think pretty much a week. We drove that trip and after the 16 hour drive (split between 2 days) home, I kind of forgot about it. ;) But it turned out just fine! I think they did have adult shirts, because DD8 needed a small and they asked "Kids small or adult small?".

I washed it yesterday, so I'll go try to take a picture now.

One of my friends checked into BCV today for 3 nights with her family....I am so jealous! I told her to try to stop by the lobby and meet Teena if she got a chance. They usually stay at the GF, but they were bringing her parents and her mother-in-law along, plus 2 kids, so the villas should be perfect for them.

I texted her around lunchtime from work, and she was walking into EPCOT.

Hope everyone there now and headed there soon has a wonderful trip!! :)

ACK! This totally slipped my mind last week! We check in 10 days from now. Is it too late to call and add a room request? Our only request is upper floor, please. :goodvibes That option isn't a choice for online check in.

I might be in the minority here but we order park tickets from mapleleaftickets.com and have them shipped to us here at home. That way they are in hand and ready to use once we arrive. I think shipping is about $6. They are having a special right now where if you buy 4 days you get your 5th day free. They also offer resort delivery and local pickup. We've been using them for years and never had a problem. It convenient for us because I have an annual pass so we just need 3 tickets. :)

I don't think it is too late. Call now.

If the request is fairly important to you, I would suggest that you don't checkin online, to give you the flexibility to change your assigned room at check-in.

Thank you so much for posting that!!!

Would you mind if I put this picture on Page 1, in the Activities post? People seem to be curious about the t-shirt activity and it would be great to have a picture of a completed project there!

Please let me know.

Thanks!

Dee

Lucy just said, "Can I make one? I want to make one!" What a great shirt for the first day of school! Thanks for sharing. This will be a must do. BTW-did you play BINGO? If so, did they have real prizes? We love BINGO. :)

Go right ahead, you're welcome to any of my BC pictures! :goodvibes

We did not play BINGO.....DS4 wanted to go down the jib slide continuously, so most of our time was spent in that end of SAB waiting and watching. :) I am hoping for more game time this year!
