OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

I couldn't keep the switch to Beach Club a secret from DH, but I'm considering it for my 10 yr old daughter. Right now, she still thinks we're going to Coronado Springs!! On the one hand, it would be really fun to plan with her, now that we'll be doing more Epcot, more pool time, etc. However, on the other hand....I keep imagining how fun it would be to start heading over to the Beach Club line for Magical Express, and have her point out that we're going the wrong way (she'd be all over that)....and then burst out with, "No we're not!! We're going to BC !!" In reality, this scenario is probably far more exciting in my head than it would be in real life...but it's fun to imagine! Two months is also a looooong time for me to keep this under wraps....

Two. Get there early and pay particular attention to the wind. Then work around to the opposite side of the lagoon. We have smoked out at Illuminations more than once.

An update for all our friends that were asking about yogurt. Slim pickens at the BC. All I have found in the Marketplace and CL Lounge is the Dannon Fruit on the Bottom. Plenty of fruit and oatmeal but not much on yogurt.

Thank you so much...I've been back and forth about ordering from Garden Grocer...but there are 14 of us going so it might be worth it!

What has the BC done historically for Halloween?
We usually return before Halloween but the one year we were there at CSR they had special pool activities and a CM pumpkin competition. Wondering if there has been anything similar at BC in the past?

Hello All!

What does everyone think of the YC or BC Concierge levels? Currently my DH and I are booked July 4-6. Was wondering if the CL was worth it? Does anyone know what the offerings are? There will be no children just 2 adults.

Thanks ALL!

If you check out the first page of this thread, you should see a great deal of info about the concierge levels. Dee (natebenma) does a great job (with the help of others) compiling info and putting together a very informative first page. Also, there have been some posts in the last day or so specifically about the CL's, so if you just scroll page the last couple of pages, you will find lots of info.

Personally, my next trip will be my first at YC, so I can't really voice an opinion on anything yet.

We did this last year, but our 3 kids thought we were going to Myrtle Beach. DD19, DD15, DS15. I changed our reservations from MB to POP at Disney on January 1, our trip wasn't until August. I switched reservations several times, but ended up at BC CL. 2 weeks prior to the trip I had to tell them since we were flying and I know my kids. I made up books for all of them, the front page said our trip to the beach and had a picture from MB. When they turned the page it had all the info about our trip to Disney and POP Century. They did not know where we were actually staying until we got to the hotel. The twins were confused but my daughter was soooo excited. I would wait, atleast until closer to the trip.

Did you ever think of planting a story like some one at work/ the grocery store/ the doctors office is thinking of planning a surprise trip to the Beach/Yacht club and they were wondering if your daughter could help them figure out what their kids would like?

You could tell her that it would be a surprise for those kids, but if your daughter could check it out and tell you what a kid would like to do you could pass it on to that parent so they could still plan the trip and not ruin the surprise.

With this story line there would be no expectation that your daughter would be the one going yet you could get all the info you needed.... if you think she wouldn't wise up to the plan. A believable adult coming to her and asking her to do this for them would make for a well disguised plan, all with Mom or dad right there so she would know that it was ok to talk to this person. Be sure and give her time to do some research on the property before she makes her report...

Just my 2 cents....

Despite my somewhat cranky post yesterday (LOL), I would say that CL was absolutely worth it. The staff was lovely and helpful, and we made excellent use of the lounge every day. I don't know if we saved money, but the convenience had a big value for us as well. We used the lounge as an extension of our room, which was even more important for us where there were the four of us. There is a reason that most people who go CL find it hard to go back! If it wasn't worth it, we wouldn't feel that way!

After my day today I'm drowning myself in planning...

So been "planing" QS meal/snack ideas and I was wondering if anyone knew if BC or YC had Greek yogurt? I know they have regular yogurt but I have never been able to stand the taste/texture of regular yogurt... but I love Greek yogurt and it'd be nice to know if I could grab one and store in the room for a late night snack if need be

Hmmm...this has potential!! I think she might see through it, since I just recently had a long weekend w/ my sister at BC, and came home saying how much I wish we could switch! But maybe, if I play it just right...thanks for the idea!

We were recently talking about this on the thread- I thought for sure I had seen chobani at the Marketplace, but the most recent report/picture says no......

Hi all..
Thanks to this board, I found that a pretty good match for the lovely BC scent was "Rainkissed Leaves" at Bath and Bodyworks. Sadly, they discontinued this fragrance about a year ago. For those fans of it, like me, I wanted to let you know that B&BW is currently having their semi-annual sale and they've brought back "Rainkissed Leaves!" ....and cheaply! I got hand soaps, body lotions and shower gels for $3 each! Just an FYI....

Even closer to the BC smell is Exotic Rainforest. I don't think it's around now but if you see it give it a sniff. I've got it as a hand soap in my bathroom and it smells just like the lobby to me. The description of the scent isn't really what it smells like either.

Sounds like you walked right past it. As you come out of the store and pass the Oscar statues there are benches with a CM located on the right. They start every 25 minutes. And you can do multiple because they do different characters each time. You just have to get back in line.

Sounds like our day has changed. Family vote (and a Touringplans OK) has us going to AK this morning. Still have plenty of time to make RD. Wish us well!

(Staying away from Romneyville today. And no ADR's at Obama's tomorrow!)

Thank you so much!!!! I think I might not tell them and make it like I'm forcing them to see character. hahaha! Yay!

Hello everyone. As I post this, I'm sitting by the Yacht Club quiet pool doing laundry so my wife can sleep. Just a few notes:

1) Did Hoop De Do last night and we loved it! It was raining so we ended up getting out to Ft Wilderness a little early for our 9:30 show but it was worth it! The kids and wife loved it also. It was a highlight of our trip.

2) They did have buses going to different sectors of the WDW resort for the ride home but the stopped 1,000 or so different places before getting to the Yacht Club. We got to see Art of Animation, Pop Century, several bus stops in Carribean Beach and the Boadwalk before finally arriving home at the Yacht Club.

3) Went to Hollywood Studios today (if you get lucky with the boats, the trip is really quick) and split it up with an hour long dip in SAB. Have to say, the Jib Slide was a ton of fun and the lazy river is really deep in parts.

4) Food today was Sci Fi and Brown Derby. Today is the first day we really thought it was too muh food. Sci Fi was fun though food was mediocre. Food at the Deby was awesome as well as the atmosphere. The dining plan is making us stuffed all the time! We still have a week to go on it!

5) Wife got tired after dinner and headed back to the room while the kids and I stayed in the park for three more rides. The great movie ride is a hit with our family; also we all enjoyed our first ride on Rocknroller coaster.
We're having a great time and tomorrow is Animal Kingdom and Donald's Safari breakfast in the morning. Have to get off to get at least 5 hours of sleep. Tomorrow we conquer Everest!

Laffites- thanks for the awesome report. Glad you are having a good time!!!

Have fun with Betty the Yeti today!

I will be trying the Jib slide for the first time next week
I have always wanted to try HBD at DHS and I think I am now going to try to squeeze it in :)

Laffites, Thanks for your updates. I'm heading to BCV today. Maybe I'll see you around. If not, enjoy the rest of your trip!

To everyone else there, See you real soon!

To all heading to the world soon, Have a great time!

I love Hoop!!! Love the food and love the atmosphere. Last time I went (in April), we parked at the BC, went and spent a few hours at MK (scoped out what rides we thought Princess Lily at 13 months would enjoy) and then did the late Hoop show. We also took back the bus and it went to 3 places before getting us back to the BC. I never mind these bus rides. They are a chance to not worry about the traffic and just talk to the family. It's nice to have that down time to unwind. Even when it was Bob, me and "little" Jeanne back in the day when we vacationed at WDW, we never cared about waiting and riding buses since it gave us a time to really talk. It's hard when you're a busy family to find time to just relax and talk. When you are walking around the parks, in line at attractions or on the attractions, it doesn't work. We found bus time nice ... we talked about what attractions we liked, what we wanted to do, just our experiences. JMO.

I cannot stand the food at SciFi. Think it's a waste of time. Love the atmosphere but not enough to suffer through the food. On the other hand, love the food at 50's. And the Brown Derby??? It's Bob's and my top 5 at WDW. We love, love, love it. And when we have Jeanne with us, we always get extra attention from the "actors". It only happens when she's with us for some reason.

Have fun at Everest!! It's my favorite coaster!
