OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

:welcome: new and returning friends!!!

So excited, we just booked BCV for April!! We are staying there in November and April, I was tempted to do AKV or SSR for April, but the BC is so hard to say no to!!

Congrats on the new trip.

I'll put you on the guest list for next year.

:cool1:

We'll be checking in in less than 2 weeks :cool1: and I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts were about online check in?

We won't be getting to the hotel until about 7pm so I'm not sure which "check in" option will give us the best chance of getting our preferred room!

Obviously I know that room requests aren't guaranteed but the UK booking tool didn't allow for room preferences to be added either :confused3

TIA :flower3:

:woohoo:

Generally, we advise against the online checkin if you have any requests. That way, you can ask about your room as you check in and if the room doesn't have the features you want, the CM can check to see if there is one available that better suits your needs.

With online checkin, the keys to your room are already cut, and you are supposed to grab them and go.

The FAQ (Post 12) section on Page 1 has info about online vs. regular checkin, but I have pretty much summarized it here.

Well I've gone and done it, booked to stay at the Beach Club.
Its not until October 2013 but i'm so excited.

Staying for 14 nights and got free dining.:cheer2:

:banana::banana::banana:

I'll add you to the list.

Dee, can you move our arrival date to August 19??

Will do!!! I think dropping the deluxe dining plan to gain another day (and not more pounds) was a great call!

Hi! I've been reading through some of these posts this week in anticipation of booking our first stay at BC. I've dreamed of staying at the BC since 1996 when I first saw it! My DH and I will be going Nov. 29-Dec. 4. We stayed at POFQ last year and fell in love with the season (being used to summer trips every three or four years with our 2 sons). I got permission from my principal (I teach middle school) to take time off again this year so we can go back. I'm very excited and since it is summer break, I have time to be on the DIS boards again!! I'll be visiting this thread frequently to help me prepare for our trip! Thanks for all the information---this is a very friendly sounding group!

:cheer2:

Glad to have you joining in!

I'll add you to the Page 1 Be Our Guest list.

Hi, everyone! I've never commented on this thread, though I'm pretty sure I've read every page (and of the last version!). We are staying at the BC on our wedding trip in a few months with all of our family. We have garden view rooms booked, and I was curious about making specific room requests. All of our vendors will be coming to our room on the wedding day, so I was going to request to be near an elevator. Is there anything else I should consider requesting (maybe for a better view or something!)? Thanks for your advice!

:yay:

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

Let us know your dates if you would like to be added to the Be Our Guest list.

Bob and I are heading into the World for dinner at Cape May with guests tonight. We'll be having drinks at the Crews Cup Lounge first and then dinner at 5. If anybody is around, stop over and say hi if you think you'll recognize me out of "costume". I'll have on jean capris.

I love Hoop!!! Love the food and love the atmosphere. Last time I went (in April), we parked at the BC, went and spent a few hours at MK (scoped out what rides we thought Princess Lily at 13 months would enjoy) and then did the late Hoop show. We also took back the bus and it went to 3 places before getting us back to the BC. I never mind these bus rides. They are a chance to not worry about the traffic and just talk to the family. It's nice to have that down time to unwind. Even when it was Bob, me and "little" Jeanne back in the day when we vacationed at WDW, we never cared about waiting and riding buses since it gave us a time to really talk. It's hard when you're a busy family to find time to just relax and talk. When you are walking around the parks, in line at attractions or on the attractions, it doesn't work. We found bus time nice ... we talked about what attractions we liked, what we wanted to do, just our experiences. JMO.

I cannot stand the food at SciFi. Think it's a waste of time. Love the atmosphere but not enough to suffer through the food. On the other hand, love the food at 50's. And the Brown Derby??? It's Bob's and my top 5 at WDW. We love, love, love it. And when we have Jeanne with us, we always get extra attention from the "actors". It only happens when she's with us for some reason.

Have fun at Everest!! It's my favorite coaster!

So, Teena, what are your Top Five Faves (Restaurants)???

You mentioning Everest being your favorite coaster.

Check out these pictures I took while on the ride couple of weeks ago:

I tried to get a glimpse of the Yacht & Beach Club every time we drove by EPCOT Resort Blvd, but the resort is really hidden by trees.

Lucky you having dinner at Cape May!! Have a wonderful time! :goodvibes

Lucky you! That's our one disappointment this trip is that Cape May Buffet is closed for renovations (well that and test track being down). CMB is my favorite breakfast buffet and I love the dinner buffet - especially the seafood!

The only food I ever order at Sci Fi is burgers and they are pretty good. That's one of our "must do traditions" with the kids. It gives them a chance to see what DH and I are talking about - drive ins. When we were first dating (many moons ago) we would go to drive ins! Of course we started dating when I was 14 and he was 15!

I never have the nerve to look from Everest but I love the view of WDW from the line waiting to go down Summit Plummit!

Teena - have a great vacation!!!!

To everyone who is there are heading there have a magical trip!

We leave three weeks from tomorrow!!!!!

Bob's and my top five restaurants: Brown Derby, Artist Point, Cape May. Teppan Edo, and Fulton's.

I tried to pm the Dissers who are listed on the Be Our Guest list for July 22 about our Mini BC/YC Dis Meet. For some reason it wouldn't go through so I started a separate thread.

If you are going to be at BC or YC on July 22 and would be interested in our little meet (and get a chance to meet our resident celebrity Teena) please pm me. We always have a lot of fun and it's a chance to mee other BC/YC fans!

The middle 3 are on our list for October! And we're hitting Cape May twice - once for breakfast and once for dinner.

Not a fan of the breakfast. Even with the characters, I can't believe it is worth what they charge. Even on the dining plan, I wouldn't use a credit for ANY character breakfast. I guess I'm spoiled from the Vegas breakfast buffets. As far as character meals, we much prefer and think they are a much better value, the lunches or dinners. The only one we will not go to ever again is Chef Mickey's ... breakfast, lunch or dinner. We really really like Crystal Palace for lunch! We usually schedule it for the last "lunch" time, pay the lunch price but make it our dinner.

At Fulton's, Bob is crazy about their Calamari appetizer. I don't eat it but he says it's soaked in milk over night and it's so tender. Sounds gross to me. For those of you that don't know me well, I'm a picky eater. I don't like anything fancy. Give me a ribeye and a baked potato (with just butter) every night and I'm a happy camper. Please don't put anything fancy on the steak either. Bob and Jeanne are the total opposite. They love anything different and will try anything. We all went to Victoria and Alberts and I hated it. They loved it. They ended up eating 90% of my food. I wanted to stop off for a burger on the way home. Guess the farm girl in me keeps coming out.

We are trying the first two this next trip...we are trying to make our way through all of the signatures...

Our last trip our fave Sig was hands down Flying Fish....Yachtsmen was next...Le Cellier though we will never return to

We'll be trying Cali Grill, Citricos and Jiko on this trip as well...mmm...I love food :)

Contemplating a BC stay in mid-December.

I'm sort of an obsessive early morning park person (like to be one of the first people behind the turnstyles now that they've done away with RD at EP and HS).

We'll just walk to EP but was wondering about:

(1) how early the boats started running to HS;

(2) how frequently they run at that time;

(3) how long the actual ride takes from the BC/YC dock to HS; and

(4) summing up the first 3 points, what's the earliest I can reasonably expect to be at the HS turstyles using the boat if the park opens at 9?

(FWIW, I've read elsewhere that the boats start running about an hour prior to park opening. If true, does this mean an hour prior to official opening time, e.g., 9, or an hour prior to letting people through the turnstyles, e.g. 8:45? If true, does it also mean that if you have an early ADR at H&V, your choices are walking or taking a cab?)

Maybe we will see you before we catch the Magical Express home.

I love breakfast and we had originally decided that Cape May breakfast would be great for our last day because we hadn't planned on going to the parks before we left and this way we'd still get to experience some Disney magic with the characters before we had to head to the airport. But actually now, we made some changes to our plans and we're going to Typhoon Lagoon on arrival day, so we will hit a park on departure day. But we didn't change the ADR.

And I'm with Bob. We love calamari...my husband especially, so that sounds great to me. I am an adventurous eater and will try just about anything. My Dad is a real "meat & potatoes" guy, like you, and he used to always give me a hard time about the stuff I would eat. Anytime I cook for him, I get the speech from my mother about making sure it's not too fancy so Dad will eat it. I do feel like I scored big though when he was willing to try my homemade cranberry sauce at Thanksgiving one year and now he tells everyone how good it is. But that's about as adventurous as he gets.

Hi everyone! I need some advice from all of you BC experts.

We are currently booked at BC w/ a water-pool view for our upcoming trip in Aug. After doing the math, I realized that an upgrade to CL (w/ standard view) would only be about $450 more over the course of our stay. But, considering the fact that we could get food/snacks/drinks, etc., included, financially it would be about even if we were to pay out of pocket for those items.

Sooooo..... it comes down to the view, I guess. Granted, most of the time we spend at the resort will either be when we hang out at SB(weather provided, of course), or when we sleep. Should I be concerned? How bad is the standard view? I mean, it's not like we will be staring a dumpster, right? Or, should I not even worry about it, as the time we actually spend looking out will be minimal at best?

Thanks!

We haven't stayed CL, but we stayed in a standard view in 2010 and it was a view of the front entrance. It was a nice view and it was quiet. We never had the curtains opened, except maybe once or twice to see if we could see the fireworks. We would actually request that room again because of the quietness and the proximity to the elevators and lobby. We booked garden view this time, but only because it was cheaper than our original booking of a standard room with the pin code. I'm actually worried that we won't like it as much. LOL The view is just not that important to us and not something I would pay money for. Now, a free upgrade? Sure! :)

Hi everyone! After a great deal of deliberation my husband and I decided to book the second part of our one year anniversary trip at the BC. We wanted the YC but it is completely booked for our dates (11-11/11-15) and the CM on the phone said it's probably because of a convention and that the YC is likely to be packed and loud as a result... so the BC it is! We've never stayed in a deluxe before so we're pretty excited. We got married a week before my birthday so we'll be celebrating that as well (I instituted a NO combining celebrations policy when we decided to get married with the two so close together but I'll make an exception for Disney!). With all the celebrating going on it seemed like better now than ever to treat ourselves. I really wanted to do a Disneymoon to begin with but my husband (then fiancé) was not a huge fan of the idea so we didn't. Imagine my sheer joy when he suggested last month that we do the one-year at Disney instead AND that we stay deluxe and "make food a priority." How could I say no to that? :dance3: Looking forward to getting to know you all! This thread has been very informative.

You will be looking at a roof or a parking lot. The views aren't the best for sure. Personally, the only time I'm in the room is to sleep, change clothes or shower so I have the drapes closed. I could care less what's out side the drapes. I could care less if there is even a balcony. That's just me though. I definitely would upgrade in a second to the standard view club level. I think paying for a water view is a waste of money for me. There are some guests who sit on their balcony while the little ones are sleeping so I could see paying for a nice view then. But in my case your decision would be a no-brainer. Upgrade for sure.

We've had an amazing stay. In fact, so wonderful that I have been too busy for updates. BUT I just received such wonderful care that I just to share!!!

We have already checked out. Shortly after getting to Downtown Disney for some shopping, my teenage son started to feel VERY ill. We took a cab back to BC and he planted himself on a couch in the lobby. He's not pukey, but just about as miserable as I've ever seen him. I felt bad for him! What teenage kid wants to sit in a busy lobby and be sick?? I went up to the 5th floor CL and asked if there was a more private place for him to rest. Hyacinth (a CL CM) had to call a few people, but arranged for us to have a room for him to rest in until 4pm.

Although I wish this fantastic trip was ending without this hiccup, I'm so grateful for the kindness shown to us today. I've been a Disney guest for years and I always hoped that if I REALLY NEEDED kindness, they would come through. I'm overjoyed to say they really went above and beyond today!

PS: What is the best way to let someone know how much Hyacinth's kindness meant to us?!?

We've met Hyacinth and she is a sweetheart!
So glad that she could help your son.

I think the email address to tell about your experience is on the first page.
