OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Ooh, BC can't lose you, Teena! You are the ambassador of the resort!

Wishuponastar35, I took a peek at your TR - you have such a beautiful family and have an amazing story. I have such respect for people who adopt kids from the foster care system, and for you to do this as a single mom and be doing such a lovely job with those beautiful kids, well, there are no words! Hats off, mom!

Teena and other cruisers, would bell services keep luggage for you while you are on the cruise? I'm thinking I would pack one suitcase or so for us for the four days, and leave the others behind.

Also, you said something about getting to the boat early - how early will they let you onboard if you are just one of the great unwashed like me (she with no platinum or other precious metal status!!! LOL)

I'm not going anywhere although I've had offers recently.

It is wonderful to be so loved but I am looking forward to being able to meet you next weekend! So, I know chocolate Tastycakes are your favorite but are you a chocolate person all around? We don't have Tastycakes in Michigan but I have something in mind for you!

Yep, they will keep the bags. Just explain the situation to them.

Oh yeah, I love chocolate. Dark chocolate is Bob's and my favorite but I love all chocolate.

Thanks guys!! It was such a humbling experience for me! But then I have to say that I have been amazed many times by the kindness of strangers . We always hear about the bad and evil things people are capable of, but I have met some really wonderful and kindhearted people! I think back to my son's Make A Wish Trip, there were so many lovely people here with some really great advice and tips! And the Disboutique Ladies were beyond amazing!!!

We had such a lovely time during our trip. Before we left I told my daughter that this trip was going to be a lot different than her Wish Trip. I talked to her about being patient in the lines for the rides and about how it wouldn't be the same, but we would find little ways to make it special.

The best moment for me was when she told me while we were on the DME on our way home that it was just like her wish trip because everyone was so nice to her at the Beach Club! She said she felt like she got her wish all over again! She absolutely adored the CM's there!

At the end of the day, life is really good and people are often better. :hippie:If I didn't know better I would have thought the lady turning backward in her seat was my cousin Carol from Del, but she normally has a wide brimmed hat on, so I am sure it wasn't her. :goodvibes

Your daughter made a beautiful flower girl. My mom always say, beautfy is as beauty does. So it is obvious why your daughter is so beautiful. :flower3: Penny

My mini vacation at the BC with Jeanne, Bob and Princess Lily in August has changed to the DARK SIDE. As of now, it looks like we'll be staying at the YC which will be a tad more convenient for Lily's side of SAB.

WELCOME! If we can't get you to switch to the Dark Side then yes, perhaps we can get your Princess Lilly to see the ways of the force and the true power it has. Now where did I leave that light saber?

Also, you said something about getting to the boat early - how early will they let you onboard if you are just one of the great unwashed like me (she with no platinum or other precious metal status!!

We of the lower non-metallic status are given a number and a time when we are permitted to arrive at the dock and board the ship. It all has to do with the high volume of people now getting to the docks and the limited space in the terminal. I guess the fire marshall doesn't share our enthusiasim over the mouse. Take a look a the Cruise Board and you will see several discussion threads on this.

By the way, never let the Captain hear you call his vessel a "boat". He doesn't take kindly to it.

My mini vacation at the BC with Jeanne, Bob and Princess Lily in August has changed to the DARK SIDE. They have a special for CMs and to get the special rate I need to be at the YC. I may switch over a day or two before I get there if there is availability at the BC but as of now, it looks like we'll be staying at the YC which will be a tad more convenient for Lily's side of SAB.

Inquiring minds need to know. First time on the Dark Side?

Yay! We just booked a stay at a studio at the BCV for 5 nights in January.....

So what should I get excited about at the BCV? Did we make the right DVC choice?! Granted, the posters on this thread may be a bit biased. ;)

Can't wait to be back!

Welcome mariamouse
Biased. Noooooo. We KNOW Y&BC are the best resorts in the 'World'. Our family liked it so much that we bought into DVC at BCV's. So be careful!

If you would like to give us your dates we will add you to our Guest List on page 1...

I've just booked Beach Club CL for Oct and we're super excited! :yay: My question is if I contact them are they able to get an adr somewhere that the system says is full? Thanks :)

Welcome dawnbu40!

Ahhhh. Food and Wine Festival. MNSSHP. Great time of the year to be at the BC. Let us know your dates and Dee will plug you in our Guest List on page 1.

Bob and I are big time cruisers ... our favorite lines are Disney and Celebrity. Been on many many many Disney cruises. I'd be glad to answer questions if anybody has any about cruising.

Teena, I'd love to hear some great cruise tips. We're newbies to cruising, empty nesters, so we'd be two adults. Any thoughts on a few must do's for folks like us on a Disney or Celebrity cruise?
And thanks for all the info you provide. Back reading this thread has been so helpful!!

Loved your story!

So, I had a talk with my hubby and kids last night, and I just changed our August reservation from Water View to Club Level Lagoon View!!! The price difference surprisingly wasn't that bad since we had our bounceback offer. We have stayed on Club Level twice for our last two trips, but only because we were VERY magically upgraded at check in....and I have to say, once you get to experience that, it's very hard to think about not having it! Not only are the food and drink offerings great, including the breakfast, but with three of us of "drinking age", it's really nice. But really, the best part is having our own personal assistants, just waiting there to help us with anything. They are so nice. It's such a convenience! Love getting off the elevator and having people there to greet you and answer your questions.

Teena, this is all your fault:thumbsup2

WDW4us2006,
Lagoon view water view, we totally agree!. We're booked next door at the YC :goodvibes. That view was what got me to change our reservation, too. We are so looking forward to relaxing on the balcony, enjoying the peace of crescent lake. :cool1:

Love this thread! I feel like I've gotten up to speed a bit on what's new at BC/YC and it makes planning the vacation even more fun.

I asked this question a while back, but thought I would bring it up again to see if anyone else had an answer for me. We just switched to CL LV, and I really would like a full balcony.
We have stayed CL lagoon view before and were in a room down near the end of the hall overlooking SAB and most of the lagoon. My question is, if we book CL LV, is this stretch of rooms the only lagoon views, so we would have one of these rooms?

And do any of them have 2Q and a daybed?

I guess I'm asking because although we loved our view last time, we found the afternoon pool activities to be very loud at SAB, and they were right under our room. Napping in the afternoon was kind of difficult.

I realize of course we can't request specific rooms, and I am totally fine if we get one of these again. Wondering what kind of views the rooms have that are on the fifth floor above the back entrance???? Those look like full balcony's. Has anyone stayed there?

Sorry for the questions! We have never reserved Club Level before, so it's the first time ever that I have some inkling of what room we will be in.

Thanks!
Linda

We haven't heard from Dee! uh oh! Hope she's still in charge!

on magical depress right now. :sad1:

Wish upon a star. Your story made me tear up. Your daughter is beautiful and the story was heartwarming.

Unfortunately it was the second time yesterday I was brought to tears, by one of the teens. Not mine. How is that for a teaser??

Inquiring minds need to know. First time on the Dark Side?

Staying there yes. I've worked in the lobby a few times and that's why I'm not a fan of the dark side. The lobby is soooooo dark and quiet compared to the BC side.

And thanks for all the info you provide. Back reading this thread has been so helpful!!

Mostly depends on what type of cruise you do. I do not recommend any cruise under 5 nights. You never get the real feel of a cruise or the relaxing of a cruise. On Disney cruises, on the 7 nights and longer, you get an adult only enrichment series that is so much fun. Alaska cruises are a whole different type cruise than a Caribbean cruise and the whole experience is different!!!. On Celebrity, it's not a big deal to hang out in the adult only areas since they are not overloaded with children like any Disney cruise is. However, we absolutely love Celebrity but there is no comparison when it comes to entertainment. Disney wins big time of course. Food, service, cleanliness we find equal on Celebrity and Disney. The best tip I can give you without knowing where you are going and on what ship is that if it's a Disney cruise and you stop at Castaway Cay, make sure you are off the ship EARLY and beat it quickly to the adult only beach. Get a nice umbrella and chair set not too far from the landing strip, rent a floatie and enjoy the most peaceful and wonderful beach ever. And the adult only BBQ there at the adult only beach is fantastic ... love love love the steaks!!! However, if you wait and don't get there early, you'll have a long hike down the beach to find an umbrella and chair set.

AHHH, now that is a teaser! I can't wait to hear about it and I am really hoping they were tears of happiness or heartwarming tears and not bad tears!

Teena - are you booked in a gv room?
My in-laws had the nicest gv room. It was on the first floor by the wedding gazebo. The best part was being by the side door so you didn't have to go all the way through the lobby after coming back from the pool.
I can't wait to see the pictures of Lily playing in the "little beach" section of SAB!

Drumroll - We just upgraded today to CL!!!!!:banana::banana:

I am so happy. We really love BC CL and would have missed it so much.

Dee - safe travels. Can't wait to read your trip report!

I'm not going anywhere although I've had offers recently.

BC without Teena - IMPOSSIBLE.
You are the heart and soul of the BC and they couldn't find a better ambassador for BC no matter how hard they tried!

You are BC's hidden gem!

Wow.....so much has happened in the few days I have been missing the Disboards. I was finishing up and executing a surprise 60th birthday party for my DM. It was a wonderful day and she cried many tears of joy and all of the work I put into it was more than worth it!!

Now for Disney business....

Teena~I hope you get your feet feeling better soon. Being on them all day is hard enough but to have spurs on top of it has to be excruciating!!

Wishuponastar35~Your story was amazing and heartwarming! Your daughter is beautiful and she looked like a princess!!

Dee~You have been on your trip and returning home all during my absence. I hope it was a great time and I look forward to your TR!

As for us, I am paying off our trip today!:banana: I am also in the process of trying to convince my DSis to take her girls to Disney. They are 10 and 5 and I think it's a crime that they haven't experienced the magic yet!! Lol Most of my family think that my love (or obsession as they put it) of Disney is not normal. I think that's why I love Dis so much......everyone here seems to understand my insanity!! :rotfl2:

Have a great day all!!

Clear inner tubes are permitted but they must be clear. Noodles are permitted. Life vests can be borrowed from the boat docks (possibly) if needed. Floatations devices can be rented but later in the day you may just find them laying around.

I'm pretty sure Dee has this covered in the FAQ section but I'm sure you are busy with the last minute plans. Congratulations on the upcoming wedding. I hope it all goes better than planned.

Thank you for the clarification and thanks for the well wishes!

Ha.. thank you for the reassurance-- and warning! The BC is already our favorite resort (along with the Poly), so it may definitely be a bit too tempting...

And our dates are Jan 18-23! ::MickeyMo:yay:

I can only answer from my experience...we stayed GV CL last June and had a full balcony that overlooked the back entrance. Our room was the corner room on the right (if you were looking at the hotel from the back entrance. I have a photo taken from our balcony looking at the other balconies in that garden area. Looks like they ALL are full balcony. Now our room was on the right side and was garden view, so i assume the ones on the left side would be garden view also. The ones that face out looking at the lagoon itself could be LV or possibly standard because a couple have a triangular roof underneath them (which covers the actual entrance).

I'm sorry I don't have the pic uploaded to post, only happened to be on my cell phone! The GV room we were in did not have the daybed, but other ones in those areas might. I hope that helps even though I couldn't answer it exactly!
