OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

I'm home from dinner at Cape May. Have to say it's the first time we were disappointed. They have totally changed the menu. Ribs are gone. In their place is bite size pieces of short ribs in a wine sauce. I personally would like that fine if it was in the same BBQ as their old ribs!! I hated the wine sauce!!! Also gone was the Tomato Cucumber Mozzarella Salad. Bob says lots more were missing. I can only attest to what I normally eat. I think I'm going to maybe change my dinner reservation for when Jeanne and Princess Lily are in town. I intend to talk to the chef when I get back from the dude ranch to see what's up.

Teena, I'm sorry Cape May wasn't up to par tonight. That must have been so disappointing. That would be sad to have to change your upcoming reservation.
We love Cape May, too. It's a family tradition, and we go nearly every time we visit WDW. Fingers crossed they get the problems solved.
I hope the chef listens and is able to get things back on track quickly.

Checked in today and love our villa! We can see Epcot ball! Bell Services said they have nothing under the name noodle. Please let me know if i should look for them in another location.

Check tomorrow with a bellman. Maybe the one you talked to today isn't familiar with the Noodle family like most of them are.

Or the person that was suppose to leave them with bell services today decided they couldn't part with them???

Unfortunately I won't be there on Sunday to check out the situation in the bell room but most of the regular bellmen know the score and are happy to deal with them because the guests have been real good at tipping a few bucks when they pick them up and when they leave them. A few dollars goes a long way!! Ask for Luigi, Keith or Robert ... I know they are friends with the Noodle Family. If they say they aren't there, then we know they never made it back to Bell Services for the "switch" to you.

Like Teena said, check back today. I haven't double-checked the list, but I think the person who had them last was supposed to return them yesterday, so maybe they just hadn't done it yet.

Hope that is the case, and keep us posted.

PS- Sounds like a nice room! A view of the ball is awesome. Have a great stay!!!

Bumping up this question.

I'm not really sure that I have accurate info about the Friendship boats.

I know when we were trying to make rope drop for EMH (8 am), we got to the dock at 7:30. There was a boat there, but not enough room for us, so we waited for a second boat that got us to HS around 8:10.

What is the earliest anyone has ever boarded a Friendship boat?

I think it is a 20 minute ride (stops at Swalphin before HS).

The walk is about the same. 20-25 minutes, depending on your pace. I have not used the shortcut through the BW pool area.

Contemplating a BC stay in mid-December.

I'm sort of an obsessive early morning park person (like to be one of the first people behind the turnstyles now that they've done away with RD at EP and HS).

We'll just walk to EP but was wondering about:

(1) how early the boats started running to HS;

(2) how frequently they run at that time;

(3) how long the actual ride takes from the BC/YC dock to HS; and

(4) summing up the first 3 points, what's the earliest I can reasonably expect to be at the HS turstyles using the boat if the park opens at 9?

(FWIW, I've read elsewhere that the boats start running about an hour prior to park opening. If true, does this mean an hour prior to official opening time, e.g., 9, or an hour prior to letting people through the turnstyles, e.g. 8:45? If true, does it also mean that if you have an early ADR at H&V, your choices are walking or taking a cab?)

Hi everyone! After a great deal of deliberation my husband and I decided to book the second part of our one year anniversary trip at the BC. We wanted the YC but it is completely booked for our dates (11-11/11-15) and the CM on the phone said it's probably because of a convention and that the YC is likely to be packed and loud as a result... so the BC it is! We've never stayed in a deluxe before so we're pretty excited. We got married a week before my birthday so we'll be celebrating that as well (I instituted a NO combining celebrations policy when we decided to get married with the two so close together but I'll make an exception for Disney!). With all the celebrating going on it seemed like better now than ever to treat ourselves. I really wanted to do a Disneymoon to begin with but my husband (then fiancé) was not a huge fan of the idea so we didn't. Imagine my sheer joy when he suggested last month that we do the one-year at Disney instead AND that we stay deluxe and "make food a priority." How could I say no to that? :dance3: Looking forward to getting to know you all! This thread has been very informative.

:welcome:

I love your anniversary/BD plans!!!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

:cool1:

We finally pulled the trigger and will be heading to BC 8/6-8/12 :cool1:. We are all very excited as it will be our first stay at BC (although we did YC in 2010)!

:welcome:

Adding you to the list, too.

:yay:

Feel free to jump in on any discussions and ask any questions you may have about the resort.

Ok, I think we're all set.

DP (is that how you abbreviate Disney Parner??) and I have our first BC stay booked a wee bit less than 2 months out. We've booked 2 nights in a GV room before we head over to BWI to share a room with friends for a full week. BWI is our favorite (so far), but I especially have always wanted to stay at BC, so needless to say, I'm over-the-moon excited. :cloud9:

I do need to call Disney to firstly alert them that it's our anniversary and to make a room request. DP is 6'5 and prefers a king bed if at all possible. Any idea of the odds of landing one? Also based on looking at maps and Teena's suggestion, I think we'd like to request a "volleyball court" view. DP isn't crazy about ground-floor rooms, but for 2 nights, it isn't the end of the world. I'm not going to add that to the request, because I don't want that to be the one request that's met....

So....would "Volleyball Court View, King Bed if possible" be the way to go?

Any thoughts?

I would put King Bed first for the requests if that is more important than the view.

I agree with Cinderumbrella's advice. There are very few King beds at the resort, so you should make that your first request.

We've had an amazing stay. In fact, so wonderful that I have been too busy for updates. BUT I just received such wonderful care that I just to share!!!

We have already checked out. Shortly after getting to Downtown Disney for some shopping, my teenage son started to feel VERY ill. We took a cab back to BC and he planted himself on a couch in the lobby. He's not pukey, but just about as miserable as I've ever seen him. I felt bad for him! What teenage kid wants to sit in a busy lobby and be sick?? I went up to the 5th floor CL and asked if there was a more private place for him to rest. Hyacinth (a CL CM) had to call a few people, but arranged for us to have a room for him to rest in until 4pm.

Although I wish this fantastic trip was ending without this hiccup, I'm so grateful for the kindness shown to us today. I've been a Disney guest for years and I always hoped that if I REALLY NEEDED kindness, they would come through. I'm overjoyed to say they really went above and beyond today!

PS: What is the best way to let someone know how much Hyacinth's kindness meant to us?!?

Thanks for sharing this story with us!

I'm sorry to hear that your son was sick at the end of your trip. But I am happy to hear about the efforts Hyacinth went through to help make him comfortable.

Here's the info from Page 1.

BTW, Teena, if you are still around- what is the status on the exit surveys?

Who can I contact if I have concerns about something during my vacation, I have a great suggestion or better still, to compliment something wonderful about my trip or to recognize a CM who helped make my stay magical?

Comments, Compliments or Complaints:

You can go to City Hall or Guest Relations during your stay

or email wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com

or send a letter to:
Walt Disney World Guest Communications
Executive Offices
Post Office Box 10040
Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830-0040

When you write or email, please include your name, address, phone number and email address.

If it is a comment specific to the Yacht & Beach Club, you can write to the General Manager (perhaps copy Guest Communications as well):

Mim Flynn, General Manager
Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts
1800 EPCOT Resort Boulevard
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

Another excellent way to be heard is through exit surveys in your resort lobby. These surveys can only be done on the day you check-out. They start at 7 AM and are done right in the lobby ... the survey cast members usually hang out with their laptops across from the concierge desk or outside near the airport check-in. They have to get a certain number of surveys done every day and once those are completed they leave. Sometimes they are gone by 8 AM. So if you want to do one, be downstairs before 8 AM.

The surveys are reviewed at the actual resort as well as WDW with a fine tooth comb!!! It's the perfect way to get your comments (good or bad) about the resort and/or cast members and/or experiences during your vacation.

If you were given incorrect information from the Central Reservations Booking Office, or if you miss resort-specific merchandise in the gift shops or if you want to recognize a CM who went out of their way to make your trip magical, this is a very effective way for the powers to be to see your message!

On way to airport in 20 minutes.

No exit surveys in the lobby anymore. Guests are being sent a postcard or email anywhere from a week to a month after their stay. I've heard every guest is getting one.

Those survey results are gone over one by one by the various departments at each resort. So you will be heard!!

I just cancelled my Cape May dinner for when Jeanne and Lily are in town. So disappointed last night.

Thanks for the info. I'll change the FAQ.

Sorry about your disappointment with the meal last night! :sad2:

HAVE A FANTASTIC TRIP!!!

I believe I have made all of the updates to list from the past few days.

Once again, please take a moment to look over your information to make sure I have everything listed correctly, and post here if I need to make any changes.

Thanks!

Dee

Teena as always very helpful! Luigi knew what i was looking for. I now have skinny noodle cousins from a nice family from England! I will return then tomorrow.

Hi! I have a question regarding the headliner rides at DHS. We are staying at BC and I put the mobile magic app on my phone. Am I able to check wait times in DHS (or EP for that matter) while at BC? Just thinking that if we are hanging around at night and I check and see that some headliners have a low wait time, my boys may want to head over.

Are you able to, or has anyone ever upgraded from a standard BC room to BCV accommodation ?

Oh no....the ribs are one of the only things my DH eats when we go there because he is not a seafood person :sad2:
I know before that there had been a specific rotation on what seafood is served which nights-has that now been changed as well? I made our August reservation based on calamari night.

After you speak with the chef, please get us the address so we can all voice our complaints.

2 weeks ago DHS was opening at 7:30 am for SWW. We were unsure if the boats would be running that early. We left the YC at 7:05 am, on foot, and saw the first boat heading towards BWI to start the day. Needless to say we beat the boat by walking by quite a bit.

Using that logic, I would say about 30 minutes before park opening is a safe bet to say when the boats start running.

I don't have Mobile Magic, but I use the Touring Plans line app and I can see the wait times right now, and I am in Chicago. Launch the app and see if it works for you at home with current times. If yes, then you will be able to use it at the BC.

We just couldn't wait until Dec 2013 for our next Disney vacation- so we booked a vacation for Nov 2-7 at YC CL (we were just there in May).:banana:

It must be the "Disney withdrawals" that make us go back so often!!!!!

Now off to plan the dinning.:cheer2:pixiedust:pixiedust:

We're going to BC for the first time in Sept. & I've read all the mentioning the noodles. What exactly is everyone referring to?
Thanks.
