OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Nope, our youngest is 11. And I double checked our reservation and it definitely says party of 5 with all our names listed. This will be our 4th time staying club level at YC/BC with a group of 5, we've always been lucky to get a daybed, even though they always say no guarantee.

That is so weird. Lucky you! :goodvibes

I actually just got off the phone with CRO to change my rate to the passholder rate (saved a whopping $83 Woohoo! :lmao:) and tried again to get GV CL or LV CL at BC or YC but they would only allow SV CL for my party size. I'm jealous! :rotfl:

Maybe they only book a certain amount of rooms with 5 people and once that amount is reached they only take parties of 4?? I don't know, we booked our room in June for an August stay so not really that far in advance. I didn't even know they had 3 views. I always thought it was just GV and LV.

Really thinking of upgrading from pirate room at CBR to BC. Is it worth it? DS5 and DD16mo (and DH). Are there any standard view rooms that are decent? Or is it worth the upgrade to garden view? Thanks!

I can't tell you whether or not to switch, as that's your decision.
As for views, it's been widely reported that standard views are just that- you will be looking out at a rooftop, parking lot or the front porte cochere. If I'm correct, the upgrade to garden view is roughly $10/night. For me, That'd be worth it.
The resorts have (in my opinion), very different theming. BC is bright and airy. Think whites, sea foam greens, pale blues and coral. Also think seashells, seahorses and beach umbrellas. At YC, the atmosphere is a bit more formal and stately ( but not unfriendly to children in any way!). Think navy blue, red, brass, mahogany, sailboats and gold roping. There are plenty of pictures of both resorts on the first page of this thread.
Good luck with your decision!

(Writing to Teena about her upcoming vacation stay) Have you been able to switch back to the BC or do we get the opportunity to show Princess Lilly the true benefits of the Dark Side?

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

I don't know.... the dark side is closer to the shallow, sandy kiddie pool area and you know how a (lil) girl on a mission doesn't like to wait!

OK. Yes. I was the surprise guest and what a surprise it was for Robyn! Her husband even told her he thought he saw me at the pool and she assured him I WAS NOT here!! I have pictures but I don't have a computer and cannot figure out how to post from my phone. I guess I'll have to wait until I get home. That will be this weekend.

Well see I posted a solution but Dee had already suggested it and posted the pics. Looks like a great time. Wish I had been there.

And JanetMom, I am not staying at BC in Oct, I just refuse to leave the thread. LOL

Here are a couple of photos from the Y&BC DIS meet on Sunday.

The first picture is DisneyDadinPA and his wife, with Lauren(The Magical One), another CM at the resort and Teena.

Here is the rest of the group:

I think I know who everyone is, but I will confirm with Teena.

Here is a closeup of one of the "Flat" visitors:

There was also a visit from the 3 Caballeros- I'm not sure if I have a closeup of this.

.

I was there briefly and finally was able to take part in a meet and greet. It was so nice to finally meet some of the great people on the DisBoards. Wish I could have hung around longer but my pesky kids were texting me that we had to get to our ADR. We got there, a little late but no worries. I hope to get the chance to meet more Disers in the future. As always Teena has been great and I finally got to meet Lauren as well. The CMs here have been just fabulous.

Booked our trip April 20-26' 2013 at the Yacht Club. We've never stayed there before, hoping its great. We've never booked a trip this far in advance before, seems like forever away!

Teena, I am so sorry to hear of Vic's passing. :( He sounds like he was an amazing man.

I did enjoy seeing the YC/BC meet-up pictures--what fun!!! :)

Love this thread! We are booked garden view in November 2013. Everyone provides so much info. Quick observation though. Is it just me that is getting the wrong pictures in specific areas? The storm along bay pool section has some room photos. I thought I had seen before a whole pool layout map with the specific areas pointed out.

Dee! Teena! BC Fans! ....

Guess what? On the main BC page on the Disney website, the button to push for room pictures is gone! Maybe...maybe....we're finally going to get updated pictures?

That's great! I was appalled last night when I found out that they had a picture of the old (like pre 2009) decor on the Disney site for the BC!

In Memory of
Victor Langley
July 12, 1942 - July 19, 2012

Obituary

Langley, Victor, 70, passed on July 19. Born in Central Falls, RI to the late Arnold and Helen Langley, he is survived by his best friend and wife of 46 years, Marjorie; two children, Kevin and his wife Vickie, and Melissa and her husband Bill; two grandsons, Tyler and Ryan Langley; and his sister Roberta Godin. A hard working man his entire life, he spent many years in materials testing at Stone & Webster Corporation in Boston, MA, and then with several other companies before moving to Florida 8 years ago and beginning a role at the Yacht and Beach Club at the Walt Disney World Resort.

He was a loving father and husband who always provided and gave to his family asking for nothing in return. After being very sick in 2004, his role with Disney and his extended family at the Yacht and Beach Club resort gave him a new strength and supported him in his healing process. He enjoyed traveling the world on the Disney Cruise ships and weekend trips to Vero Beach. A huge Patriots fan he loved talking football with his late brother Stephen and enjoyed reading his Patriots Weekly cover to cover.

He touched many people in his life, and the world was a better place for having known him. Some of his favorite times were yearly family trips to Walt Disney World with his children so in lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to Give Kids the World.

I just checked and the pictures looked ok to me.

If anyone else is seeing the pictures in the wrong places, please let me know!

The SAB labeled layout map was still there in the pool section.

Hey all you MA peeps ou there!
I know this isn't directly about the Y/BC... SORRY!!!
I know there was some talk about some people wanting to do a Disney marathon... well I heard on Mix104.1 this morning that they are teaming up with the American Stroke Assn. to train for the Disney's Wine and Dine 1/2 marathon on Nov. 10,2012. I didn't read all the details but I did see that airfare and accomodations are free!!! Not sure how that is but sounds great. I think the gym they're using is in the Boston area but even if you outside the Boston area they can work something out with you. It looked really tempting to me and it's for a good cause!!! Thought someone would be interested. This is the website with all info. I'd love to find out if someone actually does it.

Dee- Thanks for posting the pic of Vic. I'm sure he will be missed. I do remember seeing him when we were there. And before he moved to FL he lived about 20 min away from me. What a small world.

And what's the difference between BC and YC? Decor? Location? Which do you prefer and why?

Take a look at all the detail on page one and I'll bet you find that yes it is worth every penny extra to stay YC/BC.

Well, this is awkward. :(

I just checked again, and the old pics are back.
