Old Press Laminator for tshirts???

We have an old press style laminator at our school and I was wondering if anyone has ever used on for making tshirts?? It looks just like the presses they use in the tshirt store which is what gave me the idea! I would think it would be better than an iron because it gets hotter, but I don't want it to be too hot and ruin the shirt or transfer. Anyone have any input???
