Okay I have an old 6 day world passport pass (Child) that we got back in 1984 and my mom just gave it to me and I just found out that I have 2 days unused on it. I want to turn it in for my 3 year old son to use if possible. I heard I can cash it in at the parks but what is the thing worth? Or what can i get inreturn if i turn it in?

Thanks guys.

i believe you can use it but only at the parks that existed back then. if you choose to turn it in you will get the cash value of the days left. which wont be that much. you are better off just using the pass.

If I remember correctly, you get credit for two days on a current day pass when you trade it in. You can't get cash for it.

There's also holding on to it as a reminder of earlier trips....

I'm sure others will correct me if I am wrong.

Two years ago, I found an old pass from 1987 (also 6 day) with one day left on it. I also had read somewhere that it was only good at the parks that were in existence back then. So I used it on a day where I only hopped between MK and Epcot. Just used it at the turnstiles like any other ticket. At MK they had to scramble to find a stamp, since it was the kind that got stamped, then they opened the HC/stroller entrance to let me in. At the FP machines, I just showed my pass to a CM to show that it wasn't able to go through the machines, and they printed a FP out for me (Beware! Some CMs try to tease you that if your pass won't work, you're out of luck. Fortunately that didn't happen til I had gotten FP's several times). Same thing at Epcot, but CMs there were very interested in the pass, marveling at what it cost back then ($95 for 6 days)-it was a real conversation piece at the gates, but never a problem.

Take it to Guest Relations at any of the parks or at DD. They will convert it to one of the current magnetic strip tickets for free. The new ticket will have exactly what remains for unused admissions as the old ticket. You will be able to use those admissions at any of the four current Disney Theme Parks.

Under no circumstances should you even give a second thought to upgrading that ticket. You will only receive credit at 1984 prices to offset current 2003 prices. It is not a good trade under any circumstances.

Remember...exchange it, not upgrade it.

If the old pass is for a child, and you want to use it for a *Guest 10+*, you will have to upgrade it.

Not true, Steve. If I read the OP correctly, this was his very own pass in 1984. That means that if he was the one wanting to use it for himself now he does not have to upgrade it. Guest Relations will exchange it to an adult pass for free and give him the same unused admissions as the old pass had. Disney doesn't penalize children for growing up, remember?

But his situation is that he wants to continue to use it as a child's pass for his son now. While it is only speculation on my part, I can't see GR refusing this request.

The worst case scenario I forsee for him is that they will only exchange (for free) the old child ticket for an adult one now. In that case, he could just use the admissions for himself or, if that's not feasible, just use the adult pass for his child.

Wow... I must've missed that part of the original post... Having re-read it... Yeah, you're right... He can exchange it for a pass for his son. I'll check again with one of my supervisors... but yesterday I spoke with a woman who had just upgraded her old childrens' tix to adult tix for her now-grown children. (that wasn't the crux of the conversation... but it came up.)

No problem, Steve. I'd hate to tell you how many times I read something wrong. ;)

I think with all the info you contribute, you can be forgiven this one time. :p
