Old, New & Long Lost Friends, with a Side of Frump! FINISHED! DL TR started 1.20.14!

Joining in a little bit late! (But better late than never, right?)

Starbucks is very much required for me too, especially if there's a full day of parks ahead of me!

Disneyland Florida?!? OH COME ON. This is why so many people are confused about various aspects of the Disney parks. Poor media representation!

I love how little kids spontaneously do cartwheels when they get excited!

Wow, Saratoga Springs is so beautiful! I don't think I've seen very many pictures of it before, like pretty much everyone else also.

Forgive me if this has already been answered, but how did you go about renting DVC points? Did you use a service? The concept really intrigues me.

The parade from the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is so adorable!

Ahhh, the view from your room in the morning with the fog over the water is so pretty!

I love Scrooge McDuck and Ludwig von Drake! DuckTales and the Sing-A-Long Songs videos were essential parts of my childhood.

OMG NEW FANTASYLAND. My parents are going to Disney in April and I'm making my mom promise to take tons of pictures for me. Not the same as actually being there, but I'll survive, I hope.

Are those french fries on Scott's chili dog? Crazy! I've never seen that before, but then again, I rarely eat chili dogs. Those Greek salads are huge!

I love the reactions of the other people in the photo of Push! Clearly they hadn't seen him before either. :)

Mmm, your chicken sandwich looks so good! I love chicken sandwiches. (Fun facts about Marissa...)

Funny that you should say that a trip to Cosmic Ray's isn't complete without seeing Sonny Eclipse, because I've never seen him! The only time I've been there it was during a MVMCP, and there was no Sonny, but a dance party instead.

I don't think that's a good look for... ever. Yeesh.

DOES THAT FINGER TRICK WORK? Amazing!

The weather in all your pictures looks great! It was cold and windy the day we visited MK so I'm a little jealous :goodvibes

That Greek salad looks fantastic!

Looks like you've hit pretty short wait times for everything so far which is great! MK has so many classic rides that really are must-dos so I can't wait to see what you do next!

I don't know who we have to thank for it, but the weather was really amazing for all except our last day (when it was still nice, just really cold)!

I agree with you on wait times - I think the longest waits we had over the week were doing standby for Test Track and for Enchanted Tales with Belle - which isn't a surprise considering how new each is and the pre-show elements involved in both attractions.

Have to say, I like the idea of a chili dog a day! Gotta love how the cameras are set up for the in-ride photo for Buzz. I don't think I've seen a good one of myself or anyone else in my family. :lmao:

We have yet to have met Push. I keep putting it on my to-try list each trip but it manages to fall off the list.

And about the woman with the fashion "misstep", I'm just glad you didn't take a picture of her from the front! :scared1: Seriously, this is the equivalent of Sue Ellen Mischke walking around in just a bra.

I think Push is one of those things where you just have to be in the right place at the right time - although to be fair, I've never attempted to ask a CM if they know when/where he'll be around Tomorrowland.

Hahaha WDW does seem to be a home of some odd fashion sometimes!!

That Greek salad from Cosmic Ray's looks really good!

Haha seriously - I bet the fashion sightings were even better back in the 80s!

BAHAHAHAAHA.. That picture of the pink bra is hilarious.. SMH!!

Looks like you guys had a productive afternoon! POTC and Tiki Room is def one of my favorites!

I was actually really amazed at how much we were able to get done on our first day in the Magic Kingdom, especially since we were going around with a toddler!

I had the grilled chicken sandwich at Cosmic Ray's for the first time last trip, and was pleasantly surprised! It had just enough kick to it.

WOW. :scared1: What a pleasant view to have as you walked through the Buzz Lightyear queue! Was the front of the shirt see through too?! The things people will wear in public...

Love the TTA!! Didn't used to enjoy it as much, but now that we have DS with us, it's one of our favorites. Almost always a walk on, quiet, relaxing...perfect attraction with a toddler.

The Tiki Room is one of those love/hate attractions. :rotfl: It annoys me to no end, but somehow we end up seeing it every single trip anyway!!

The chicken sandwich has become my go-to whenever we eat at Cosmic Ray's - it's nothing too interesting, but it's the perfect base for the toppings bar!

I don't think the front of the shirt was see though - I'm sure they wouldn't have let her in the park if it was TOO risque.

I'm not a huge fan of Buzz Lightyear, simply because I SUCK at it. I'm usually good at rides/games like that, but for whatever reason I'm really terrible on Buzz.

That outfit should be a fashion don't anywhere! I know they have mirrors in the Disney hotels so unless she was staying offsite in a place with no mirrors.....:rotfl2:

Hahahaha, that's true - I didn't stop to consider maybe she was unaware of how she looked. But really - I think it should be common sense that see-through anything is probably not the best choice for a family theme park.

:welcome: Never too late to join in!

For renting DVC points, I went through http://www.dvconly.com/. You select the DVC resorts you are interested in and the dates you will be staying, and the site will give you a quote for how much it might cost. However, our actual price was lower than what was on the website, since we were going at such a slow time of year and they probably needed to rent out those points. It was a very simple process and we had a contract through the site in case anything went wrong with the reservation (but we had absolutely no issues). I highly recommend using them!

I can't believe your parents are going to New Fantasyland and not letting you stow away in their luggage so you can see it too! ;)

I think the things on top of Scott's chili dog were more along the lines of onion rings than fries. :thumbsup2

I love learning fun facts about Marissa!!

I can't believe they didn't just have Sonny Eclipse DJing the dance party. I mean come on. Look at him. He totally knows how to get down.

YES IT DOES. We didn't do it on this trip, but we did during the 24 hour day. I think at long as you're not there during a peak time, you shouldn't have a problem.

HOLY MOLY was i ever behind ,where have I been lol.I love all the pics and silly faces!! I really hope that the next long last friends week happens during one of my trips that would make me quite a happy camper actually.SWOON at new fantasyland I'ms o pumped for that!!! n hoping i get to see gaston .

Thanks for the DVC points rental advice! I really am going to have to check into it. It seems way less complicated than I thought originally!

There's something so intriguing about chili dogs, I don't know why. I don't actually order them though because I feel as if they'd be a pretty messy endeavor to eat in public. I do love that Cosmic Ray's toppings bar though! It's funny how if they put a tomato and pickles on my burger or sandwich, I wouldn't think of them as so special. But when you let me go to a toppings bar and get them myself, I'm so thrilled, haha.

Since the first Long Lost Friends week was so early in the year, I think they'll try to space out the other ones. I think Disneyland is having their first one in April, so I'd guess WDW would have their other two in June and October or November. Guess we'll have to wait and see!

Gaston is out frequently by his tavern, so I don't think you'll have a problem with seeing him there!

No problem! I was really intimidated by the process at first too, but my biggest reassurance was that they give you your reservation number, so you can link it to your account and verify that the resort/dates are correct. I'd say the only downside is that you have to pay for your points up front, vs. just having to pay by the 45-day mark, but at the same time it's nice to have that out of the way so early in the planning process!

Heh, spoiler for the end of our TR, but I tried one of the special hot dogs at Casey's that come with a ton of toppings, and my first thought was "How do people eat these with their hands??" I had to use a fork and knife, lol.

And I know what you mean about a toppings bar! Burgers come with those toppings all the time, but it just seems better when you get to add them yourself. Glad I'm not the only one who feels that way!

BREAKING NEWS

Hey everyone! Sorry again for the delay in updates! I brought my trip journal to work to try and update during my lunch breaks, but I haven't had a chance, and then I keep forgetting to bring it back home with me in the evenings. I promise more will be coming this week though!

In the mean time, I have some exciting news!!

A few weeks ago, my mom was talking about plans for our family vacation this summer, and she asked me if I would want to go to the Grand Canyon.

UM YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So at the end of July, I will be flying out with my family to Phoenix, and we'll spend a few days at the Grand Canyon, followed by a few days in Sedona.

As soon as my mom mentioned Arizone though, the wheels began turning. And I told her not to worry about booking my and Scott's return flights with the rest of the family because...

WE ARE GOING TO DISNEYLAND!!!!!!!

tumblr_inline_mgzo7uJ4iE1r0ilh6.gif

Yes, as my family is going to get on a plane back to Maryland, Scott and I will be flying in the opposite directions to spend 4 days in California! We will be there from August 6-10, which means we'll be there for the first day and a half of D23 Expo! I may attempt to go to it on Friday, but I haven't decided yet - I probably won't make an actual decision until it gets a little closer and we know the schedule for that day.

I have some amazing plans in the works for this trip, and I can't wait to have them confirmed so I can share them here!!

HOW EXCITING! The whole vacation sounds like so much fun and to end it with DISNEYLAND?!? Might as well if you're over there anyway~ YAY FOR YOU!!!

That is so exciting!! Which one are you more excited about? A giant sinkhole or the Happiest Place on Earth? That's an easy call, right? :rotfl:

All kidding aside, the Grand Canyon alone would have been an awesome trip. DLR is just icing on the cake!

YEAH DISNEYLAND! pixiedust:

I'm so excited to hear about your trip! It's been a few years for me, and it'll probably be awhile before I get back out to the west coast, but I looooved Disneyland the last (and only!) time I was there!

YAY!!!! I have always wanted to check out Disneyland! Cant wait to hear abll about that....

My dad actually just got back from the Grand Canyon last week! :)) He had a great time!

Great news about the trip, I bet you're excited already :) I'd love to go to Disney land at some point in the future x

That was pretty much our line of thinking! If we're already going to be on that side of the country, we may as well just keep on going =) YAY FOR ME!

Thanks to twitter I already knew this, but who cares?

SO FREAKING EXCITING!!!!!!

:hyper:

RIGHT??? I wanted to hold off on putting it on here until it was officially official. We finally have our flights to California booked, so there's no turning back now!! And there are definitely a few fun things that I haven't mentioned on Twitter yet that will be a part of this trip. WHEEE =D

Haha, my mom and I keep joking about which is going to be the better part of the trip. I think they will both be amazing and memorable for different reasons! And I'm really glad the trip to the Grand Canyon will be with the rest of my family, while the Disneyland part will be just me and my husband. At least he know what he's going to be getting into with me at Disneyland, haha.

I super second this statement!!!

:cool1::cool1: Now I just have to figure out how my new camera works so I will actually have decent pictures to bring back for this trip report!

I'm excited too! (Duh, right? haha) Since it is so expensive to fly out that way, and there are so many other places we want to visit, I know it will probably be awhile before we make another trip out there, so we definitely want to make the most of it!

:dance3:

YAY!!!! I have always wanted to check out Disneyland! Cant wait to hear all about that....

My dad actually just got back from the Grand Canyon last week! :)) He had a great time!

After hearing about it so much (especially over the past year with the additions to DCA), I'm so excited to finally get to check it out for myself!

And that's awesome about your dad! Did he stay at one of the lodges inside the Grand Canyon park area, or in one of the nearby towns?

Great news about the trip, I bet you're excited already :) I'd love to go to Disney land at some point in the future x

I'm definitely excited! I think Disneyland is a place that any Disney fan should try to visit at some point in their lives, simply because it's the park that started it all and the only one Walt ever got to see.
