We're planning on staying there for the first time in January, so I don't have any direct knowledge, but I would suggest checking out the resort on www.allearsnet.com Also, try posting this on the DVC board. You should get plenty of helpful answers there too!

Try looking at the DVC board, you'll get a lot more info about OKW.

The room sq. footage is similar to the deluxe rooms, at 376 sf. according to the UG. You also get a bar area with fridge, mircro, coffee maker and a few other things (toaster? paper plates?).

There are at least 2 quiet pools, plus the main pool that has a new sandcastle slide (check out allearsnet for pictures). You park where your room is, the style is more like townhouse/condos.

Your teens could take the boat to DTD for night time fun. There's a restuarant on site (Olivia's), along with a store and food window by the pool. However, the overall resort is quieter because it is all DVC, which may or may not be to your liking.

OKW has 2 queen beds - the other DVC studios have a queen and a double sleeper sofa.

yes, it is as big as the deluxes.

some teens love it, others hate it.

It has a new slide at the main pool. the Resort has 4 pools - the main one close to the HH, one on Miller road, South pointe, and turtle pond.

the Turtle pond is the next in size from the main pool. It also has a small snack bar with limited hours.

then miller road and finally South Pointe.

but I love the pool at South Pointe better - yes it is smaller - but it has the best views.

the main pool will generally be busy. the quiet pools may or may not. lots of times we have the only ones in the quiet pools.

We just returned from our first stay at OKW, and our first vacation with a teenager...DS just turned 13 and we celebrated the entire trip!

We were in a studio #1831, family of 3, and had plenty of room. The beds were super comfy and the pillows were awesome...we all want them for our beds at home. The only thing I wish we had more of was...a bit more surface space. We tend to pile everything in a central location, in this case it was the table which left little space for eating in the morning. The fridge held more than enough for us...half gallon of milk, 2 half gallons of OJ, quart of creamer, a couple pounds of grapes, about a dozen bottles (16.9 and 12 oz.) water, 6 pack of Dr. Pepper, and we had tons of room to spare.

DS swam in the Miller Rd. pool, which was plenty big for him (only 3 ft. - 5 ft. deep so no diving), but he had a great afternoon swimming laps in a slight rain. The main pool, as others said has a new slide...saw an adult on it so should hold a teen. DS wasn't impressed with the game room though.

Overall, DS really like OKW. He really wanted to hang out more at the resort than we did...he was happy they had ESPN on tv so he could keep up with his sports stuff...typical teenage boy.

Okay I LOVE OKW but we stayed in a 1 bdrm villa so I am not too sure about the studio. Looking at the pics, the layout is different then a deluxe - it looks rommier to me.

But as much as I love it, I am not so sure teenagers would like OKW compared to other resorts. The game room is small, the main pool can be VERY VERY far from your building and the quiet pools are just that - quiet. I never saw many older kids there, some younger kids but definately more adults then anything. The resort was very peaceful and if you get a rental car, it is by far the least amount of walking and commuting then any other resort as you park your car right by the building. We loved it when our dd was a toddler - to get back to a nice peaceful quiet place for naps during the afternoon hours. She also loved the ducks. Now she is a little older and I personally don't think we would stay there unless we were getting a 1 bdrm or abovew/ family. She loves the theming and playing with other kids. I think it would be tough at OKW. If you are getting a great rental deal though - you won't be disappointed - but I do HIGHLY recommend a car if you can add it to the budget.

Well, the unit sizes of the OKW units are overall bigger than a regular hotel room. The studios have a kitchenette, which includes a small fridge(dorm size), a sink, a microwave, a toaster and a coffee maker. OKW stuodios have 2 Queen sized beds. Most of the other DVC properties have 1 Queen and a pull-out sofa.

We find it to be a very relaixng resort. It has bus service to all parks, and bus or boat to Downtown Disney. The main pool is big, with a new slide which I have heard is great, although I haven't seen it myself. There are also 3 other quiet pools scattered throughout the resort. There are bike & boat rentals, basketball nets, volleyball, shufle board...those sorts of things. It sits on a golf course, if you are golfers.

It is not like the BWV/BCV, where you can step out the door and be right in an area with lots of stuff to do like shopping, nightlife etc, so if you are more into that, then my suggestion would be trying one of those resorts.

I have two teenage boys, 17 yr and 15 yr, and when asked which of the DVC resorts they wanted to stay at for our June trip. They wanted to stay at BCV or BWV and said they would give up the great size of the 1 bedroom and stay at BCV or BWV. My husband wanted to get a 1 bedroom at OKW. The boys do spend a lot of time at the comm. bldg esp if mom and dad do not want to get up early and they want something to do. It is great that everything is free, ping pong, pin ball, air hockey etc. They also like the entertainment at night on the boardwalk. They do spend a lot of time in the pool so they love the Stormalong Bay. Did they hate OKW, no. They is ping pong and tennis right by the pool and the pool is large and rarely full. Nights are very quiet at OKW. The bontoon ride to DownTown Disney is very nice. If you boys have never stayed anywhere else at Disney and you plan on being in the parks every day I believe they will like OKW. I hope this helps and does not confuse you more.
