Old Key West - Your Favorite Things

So many of my favorites listed here......

I'll add.........
the whole "neighborhood" feel of the resort with the white picket fences.......
renting a pontoon and floating up and down the Sassagoula River to DD.........
riding down the Sandcastle pool slide at the main pool..........
the friendly CM's...........
:yay:

as I do, getting my luggage from the car to the room, and getting ecv from bell services to the room. At OKW, you can't just drive up under the portico, hand everything over including the car, and drive off in the ecv.

Now see....we have pulled up to the Bell Services desk at the resort entrance and dropped our luggage off while we drove off to the parks if our room wasn't ready. We never had a problem with this, though we chose to do it only twice in our 6-7 stays so far. But my dh would pull up to the Bell Hop stand and unload the luggage while I went inside to check-in. Then it was our choice to either park our car and take the bus or just drive off to the park. So I've not found it difficult at all.

Stayed there this past July and my boys LOVED THE COMMUNITY HALL. They went every day at some point. We were close to HH so they could walk right over. They also rented a Searay and a paddle boat. So lots of fun kid stuff. OF course the large rooms are a big fave too. I like the boat ride to DTD. I love the DTD area anyway...that is why we own at SSR.

We love OKW's larger rooms, parking just outside our door and being close to Flipper's Pizza in the Crossroads Shopping Center.

DH and I rented a pontoon boat for the first time and visited Community Hall to play air hockey, and checkers. It was a very pleasant afternoon.

I also saw that there are many board games that can be borrowed at Community Hall. I have to keep them in mind for a rainy day.

Being at Disney but yet seeming to be far removed from all that. Being able to kick back and relax after a day at the park in the nice large rooms or balcony.

I just got back from a first stay at OKW. I liked it better than I had anticipated and here is our list:
Definitely the big pool at the main house - my kids loved the water slide.
The lounge chairs in the sand made me feel like I was at the beach.
The margaritas at the take out bar were great.
The overall atmosphere...it's funny since a lot of adults spend those "early morning hours" out on the balcony with coffee in hand....we did too!
The games room at the community house...especially the air hockey. It was a great way to cool off in the air conditioning.
Movies from the games room too.
It really felt like a resort and very relaxing as compared to the Epcot resorts which we love too.
I'd definitely go back to OKW again...for so many reasons! Hope you have a fabulous time!

Two words: Turtle Crawl.

I am taking the boat over from SSR in October just for one! :woohoo:

Playing ping pong with a nice cold drink close by and listening to JB music.

Is Jimmy the only music they play or is it a mix? Don't get me wrong, I like Buffet, but too much of one thing is...well....too much.

Oh man, I feel like we're gonna love it! :woohoo: So much, we're not going to want to go to leave and check into SSR the following Sunday. What do you think the chances are of changing SSR to OKW when we're there? :goodvibes

We had similar situation earlier this year in trying to change from SSR to AKL and were able to, but it was for a two night stay.
