Old Key West Resort...

Do you have to be a DVC member to stay at this resort? Or is it that they just have DVC rooms at that resort? I'm confused about what a "DVC Resort" means. (silly question, i know. just want to make sure i understand everything.)

OKW is a Disney Vacation Club resort, but all the DVC resorts can also be booked by paying money and not using DVC points. You do not have to be a member to stay there. You can try to reserve by paying cash/credit or you can rent points from a DVC member. If you pay cash, you will get normal maid service. If renting through a DVC member, you only get maid service on your 3rd or 4th day, which I believe is only basic trash service. You do have the option to pay extra to get the full maid service. I am staying at OKW for the first time at the end of March. I hear the rooms are very spacious.

Thanks for the info. I just switched my ressies from AKL to OKW. I've been wanting to add another night to our ressies but can't seem to get it at AKL. Tonight I saw availability pop up at OKW and could not dial the phone fast enough! I'm so glad I got it. This was actually my first choice when we first decided to plan a WDW vacation, but it was booked solid at the time and I was never quite sure if it was for DVC members only or not.

I'm so excited!! I can't wait!! Now, I just need to go get some sun on these very white legs of mine.

Looks like we'll be overlapping eachother there! We leave in 9 days for our first WDW trip and got a 1 bedroom at OKW. With two little ones, we thought the extra square footage would be heaven.

Old Key West is our favourite resort AND everytime we've stayed there we've ALWAYS managed to stay in the same one-bedroom home !!!

You will have a full wash machine and dryer which I found priceless. We also had full maid service everyday. I like baking cookies in the oven and DH loves the ice for his gin and tonics.

The 1 br are so roomy. You will love it. BTW we just bought OKW!

Um, the OP doesn't say what size unit they're staying in. If it's a studio (one large room, kitchenette, bathroom) it won't have a washer/dryer in the unit.

Oh, sorry. I didn't realize I hadn't posted the type of room. We will be staying in a Studio this time. Perhaps next time we can get a 1 bdrm. They looks sooo nice and roomy! And I like the idea of a full kitchen as well as washer/dryer!

I love OKW I have stayed in studio room every trip. LOVE them lots off room, quite, and full sized balconies what more could you ask for. Besides never having to leave.
