Old Key West - near HH

I think I remember reading this, but can't seem to find it....
Are the "near HH House" booking category rooms only available to DVC owners? We are interested in a 2BR villa at OKW, but my parents do not get around well at all... and would really be better off as close to the main building as possible. Am I correct that we would have no chance at all if we are paying cash through Disney reservations?

Only for DVC points - buildings 11 to 14 and 23 to 26. There are other buildings that are close and open to everyone - 62, 63, 64 have elevators.

Lern something new every day. We've been owners at OKW for about 12 years (before there was even a HH category) and I never knew that only members could book the category.

DVC memebers here for 14yrs and I didn't know this either... our home resort is BWV but DH and DD and family will being staying at the lovely & quiet OKW in Jan 2015....near the HH !

I'm guessing that "near HH" only shows on the DVC reservation as a category. For cash stays there isn't a "near HH" but my guess is that those rooms could be released to Disney for cash stays.

60 days prior to any check in date, revenue accounting releases rooms to Disney for cash stays and they don't want rooms sitting empty.

We found building 27 very convenient for busses and walking to main areas.

And we were right next door, in building 28, also in a 2 BR (but on the third floor which you may not want). The location of 28 is also really good for bus stops and main areas.

Yes, HH is DVC only. If they have trouble getting around I would most definitely have it noted on your reservation & potentially have it listed as medical request for a 1st floor or one the 60's buildings with an elevator.
