I have old Fisher Price toys that were made out of wood. Most of these are in excellent condition. Digger the Dog still looks like the day I bought him. My MIL gave me my husbands Hickory Dickory Clock made by fisher price when our son was born. That toy is over 40 years old and plays the nursery rhime and looks really good yet. We have a wooden phone, xylophone, barn, house, airport, gas station and all the wooden "little people". Some more but I can't remember all of them.
I think around 1984 they started making Fisher Price toys out of plastic. Also Tyke came out with plastic toys. Anyway we are trying to organize our basement and trying to decide what to do with all the toys and everything else. The plastic toys look horrible. We washed some up and used bleach on some, but the plastic reallyabsorbed it's environment, plus many of the pieces dried up and cracked. We ended up recyling almost all the plastic made toys, what a waste. It was so sad seeing some of their favorite toys going to the garbage.
We bought some better rubber made totes today, and decided we will distribute the old wooden Fisher price toys to our kids when they get married and have kids.
