Old Favorites at DLR

By "old" I mean rides, attractions, food, etc that are no longer at DLR. I'm sure there's been other threads on this subject but I was just thinking the other day of some of the things I miss at the parks:

- Rocket Rods in Tomorrowland
- Peanut Butter, Chocolate, Banana Creme Brule at Storytellers
- Stromboli's restaurant at DLH (DH and I went there for our 1st anniversary)
- Blast at DCA

Anyone else have ones they want to share?

-The orange/lemon whips sold at Bengal BBQ (can't recall the name but they stopped making them years ago)
-Adventures through Inner Space in TL
-The People Mover in TL
-Sgt. Preston's Yukon Saloon/Neon Cactus in the DLH
-Pavilion Lounge in DLH
-Monorail Cafe in DLH
-Mazie's restaurant in DLH
-Pedal Boats in DLH

Country Bears Jamboree!!!

We miss the Bears! They rocked!

My number one missed attraction would be the "Flying Saucers" that were in Tomorrowland.
My number one missed snack would be the "Fritters" that they used to sell at the snack window behind the French Market Restaurant. And before anyone says that they still have them, let me say that they have changed. Before you bought one large fritter, not a trio and it was so yummy that it came with no dipping sauce (it just was not needed). They were very moist like a Cream Puff pastry made with egg yolks.
My number one missed drink would be the "Welch's Grape Juice Stand", in Fantasyland. It was just so beautiful. I hope somewhere there is a picture capturing the art work and the display. The grape juice always tasted better there than at home.

I loved that Welch's place in FL. It was right next to the little theatre, right? I would always get the frozen grape juice bars from there, which were so refreshing on a hot summer day! Mostly everything I eat or drink usually tastes better in DL than anywhere else!

You said everything I was going to say!! How funny. I absolutely LOVED those flying saucers. For those that don't know, they were like round bumper cars but they rode on a cushion of air so you actually "flew" by leaning one way or another.

And I STILL miss the Welch's stand!!! I loved the grape juice--I think, besides ice cream bars, it was my favorite park treat.

I also liked the old Casa de Fritos.

I was never a People Mover fan and the whole PM cult thing kind of puzzles me I did, however, like the Skyway buckets.

Oh yes, and I miss the old DLH grounds with the harbor and the older shops and restaurants.

The Monorail Cafe had the best BBQ chicken sandwich and onion rings! YUMMY! Oh how I miss that food! They had great pie and milkshakes, too. I wish they had never gotten rid of that restaurant.

I heard the beef stew in a bread bowl is gone from the French Market. I loved that and I'm sad I can't get it on my next trip.

Speaking of bread bowls. there was a salad in a bread bowl at DCA that was really good. I thought it was called the Solano Salad but i could be wrong. I'm not even much of a salad person but I crave this one for some reason. I looked at a menu recently and saw that there was a similar one but it wasn't the same.

Oh Stromboli's! I loved that place! The tequila lime chicken was to die for! I still think about it! And they had the best bread....yum!

DH just mentioned yesterday that he's really sad the Country Bear Jamboree is gone.

This was a dangerous thread for me to see and think about, because now it's got me thinking about that darn Monorail Cafe and how annoyed I am that they got rid of it! Arrrrgggghhhh Those onion rings were to die for! They could easily lose one of the restaurants in DCA and put the Monorail Cafe in its place, I think! It was a really good diner/coffee shop-type place, which they don't have a lot of in DLR. Probably better than the Taste Pilot's Grill.

I do miss the old version of the Sub rides, too. I also miss the Motor Boats between FL and TL. I miss seeing the Skyway Buckets, but I don't miss riding in them! I was never comfortable with heights, but I think they were definitely integral to the landscape of Disneyland and I miss seeing them strewn across the sky when I am there. I liked the People Mover simply because it was a nice, cool, relaxing and long ride to go on that had virtually no line at all, and it was great to ride after a long meal, so you felt like you were accomplishing something while letting your food digest!

I also miss the old Tahitian Terrace restaurant in AL. They had good chicken - I think it was teriyaki.

I miss the New Century Timepieces shop (the old version, not the new incarnation of it).

I miss Adventure Thru Inner Space. First time I went on it when I was little, I screamed & cried ; I thought I was actually being made "molecule sized" forever!

And I LOVED Tahitian Terrace! The fire! The waterfall! The food! The punch that came with the little plastic orchid! I remember it was sponsored by Kikkoman Soy Sauce, and my dad freaked me out by telling me it was "bug juice" after I put it all over the rice on my plate

Country Bear Jamboree! It was my family's favorite show when we went together when I was little. It brings back very happy memories!

Ah! I loved the Tahitian Terrace!! Great food, fun show, wonderful ambiance.

I, too, miss the Tahitian Terrace. It was tradition that we ate the teriyaki chicken every trip. I loved the atmosphere.

I also miss the Swiss Family Robinson treehouse, Country Bears Jamboree, and the People Movers. But I'm glad I can visit these old favorites at WDW.

Also gone but was a favorite to browse through was the kitchen store in NOS. I never bought anything there but I always liked to look.
