Old Disney Park photos

Here are some from my family's trip in 1979. I'm the smallest boy in each.

Any idea where this is? Discovery Island, maybe?

Great pictures. You guys are lucky to have those! I think it is great to see how the park has changed and the characters too. Our parents just took us on loooonnnggg car trips and never to Disney! My brother and I were adults in our 20's when we first went to Disneyland together with our family. It's been an almost annual trip ever since!

Would love to see some old pictures of what Dopey looked like back in 1974. He is my favorite Character. My first visit was in 1974 and have been going back for years. I was hooked on Disney and still am. This thread is a great find. I have enjoyed every page and picture. as I have alot of my own, it would take forever to scan them. I am amazed at the camera quality. back when we had 110 camera's and them Disk Camera's. WE have come a long way with digital camera's.
Thanks for sharing some old memories.
Sandy

At first I thought it was fort wilderness...didn't they used to have a petting zoo? (do they still??)...but now I think it was discovery island. There were all sorts of trails leading thru the island that had these "petting corrals" along them...from what I remember anyway.

I came across some pics a few weeks ago so I scanned them. Now I want to dig and find more! I don't know the exact year, but they're early to mid 80's.

(and please don't be too envious of my perm :rotfl: )

Ok, and this one was somewhere backstage. The guy in the middle is my great uncle. He used to play fiddle in Frontierland. Just a little brag, but Charlie Daniels credits him with inspiring him to play fiddle. Had a discussion with him once and told him who I was related to and he went on and on about how he used to stay up late at night listening to my uncle and his band on the radio every week. The other two are my grandparents.

I'm hoping some of you reminiscers can help me out here. We came across these pics when we found the others. I know they're not Disney, so bear with me, hehe. I'm pretty sure they're all from Sea World (due to the ship and the stands) but the thing I'm standing on out front stumped us - we can't figure out what that is. Anyone remember Sea World looking like this in the early 80's?

Wow, I didn't know Goofy could waterski! :goofy:

Who is that duck in the background? It looks like a female, and I can't think of any other Disney female ducks besides Daisy.

Look closely at her bill, she has glasses on. I think she is a grandma duck, but I don't know her name. But my girls have a book about going to help out on the farm for her.

Love the pictures. Keep those old shirts. Back in the day I had an old Mickey Mouse Club sweatshirt that I didn't keep and you can't buy those! If we only knew (I guess some do - hence Disneyanna's), I would have kept my old Disney stuff. I had an old Mickey Mouse plush from 1965! Who knows where it's at now, probably a landfill.

What year was this?
I think I remember my DD having the same T-shirt.:goodvibes

I think it was 1986 or 87

I miss those Mickey bars too - the new premium bars are wonderful but just not the same as the face Mickey bars. (BTW, great hat!!)

I wish I still had the hat! and that it was green like in a previous post lol

I have some old sweatshirts too from the 15th anniversary and an old school MGM studios one as well.

I have a Mickey ear hat from what must have been my first trip, in 1978, that's green with white ears! :scared:

OK, this goes against all better judgment, but I figure if you can't laugh at yourself, your world isn't a very good place! So, I took some digital pics of the pics. Oooh, this is scary stuff. People, please, viewer discretion is advised!

Yep, and I thought I was H-O-T and cool at the same time. I was hoping to run into Damon from The Mickey Mouse Club while we were there. He could have never resisted me!!!!!

Ok I had to comment...I had that same NKOTB shirt, that hat...and that haircut. I looked just like that back then. :lmao:

I also get all teary seeing the photos of little kids in the late 70's and 80's...I wish so much I could have visited WDW when I was a child. I think that's where many of you got that "magic" you still carry around today. I'm so envious...

I am also surprised in the first few pages of the thread, the 70s photos in particular, how few kids there are in the parks!! My how things have changed.
