For the last several nights (Sun-Tues), the DIS Christmas Tree Exchange OKW #2 tree (:cheer2:) has been twinkling at travelers on Trumbo Canal from Villa 4524.

We were there on a too-brief visit and managed to squeeze into the Christmas Tree Exchange being coordinated so skillfully and unselfishly by "lodge." Having seen the mechanics of the exchange from the inside now, I can't tell you what a service these coordinators and tree donors provide!

For a number of years, I've thought two things really symbolized the DIS DVC boards community spirit. One was the outpouring of support for Dani and Stacey on the "Sad Story" thread several years ago, and the other has been the yearly sharing of holiday joy with the tree exchanges. This was our first year of being able to participate in the tree exchange -- hopefully not our last!

We were supposed to pick up the tree on Saturday, but had guests and ran out of time. We got the tree on Sunday and set it up on the corner table right by the window, so people passing below on the canal could share our holiday spirit. Hopefully, a few of you saw it...

Happy Holidays everyone!

Jim, Allison, and Danielle

Glad to see OKW tree 2 is doing well. The first person on the list of tree 1 had one heck of a time getting it!! I called and called, and kept hearing "it's here", but for some reason it kept being elusive to this poor guest. Poor tree had to be given away as the cost to return home weren't even managed. It is now being shared in a non-coordinated way!
This was a very minor contribution compared to the advice, suggestions, information, etc. I have received from DIS members.... I am so entirely grateful to everyone.

We are on our way down on Friday evening, and looking so forward to putting up this little tree! Happy holidays, everyone, and ditto with thanks and gratitude to both the coordinators and tree donors! It definitely makes it feel more like Christmas though away from home.

What are the shipping costs? It looked like there was enough in the donations envelope.

Tree #2 has a prepaid return postage label....so Lodge must be referring to Tree #1. Glad that the tree hasn't gotten lost (like a lot did this year), and everyone seems to enjoy it. Next year we hope to be at Disney to enjoy a tree. We bought VWL just for Xmas visits....

We were the last with tree 1. $4 was donated when we obtained it. We had pre-coordinated with lodge to ship back the tree, but it was decided just to give it to other families instead (lodge didn't want us making up the costs and instead told us to buy a treat with the donations). Hope the donors didn't mind. It is a beautiful little tree, being enjoyed by families still! It had been lodges tree so they didn't mind not having it sent home, as long as families were enjoying the tree!

Thanks to everyone who put work into this tree swap....it was a wonderful experience of the true holiday spirit!

I am glad you enjoyed the OKW tree! It is a nice tradition! I am so glad it has continued!

PS. Our VWL tree ran into a snafu, but with luck & Pixie dust, it is clear sailing from now on!

JimMIA,
BuckeyeFan can't locate the tree and has left you a pm also.....any guess as to where the tree may be?

Tree was to be picked up in the 20th...has it been lost for three days? I will call this morning.
