OKW studios between Christmas and NYE

I am trying to arrange a family trip. We had book two weekend nights at the Swan, but are concerned at the number of negative reviews on tripadviser.com. We would like three studios at OKW for two nights (Dec. 29 and 30, Friday and Saturday nights) and I would much rather wait 'til the 7-month window and use my SSR points than borrow (more) OKW points from next year.

How hard to book DVC studios for Christmas/NYE week at 7-month window? With OKW having such a large number of units and those being expensive weekend nights I am optimistic, but?? I would appreciate any personal experiences to give me an idea of our chances.

I don't think you will have a problem getting three studios for Friday and Saturday (12/29 & 30) at the 7 month window.

Have you tried calling MS to see if you could book them for cash right now? If the answer is yes, they must anticipate that not all the studios will be reserved by members for points. Of course, that would mean you shouldn't have any trouble at all when the 7 month mark rolls around.

Unfortunately, I think the studios are very difficult to come by at OKW, because they have a smaller percentage of studios.

I have a hard time believing that all the studios will be booked before the 7 month window opens - especially since Fred wants Friday and Saturday nights that go for 36 points each night at that time.

FWIW, I don't think the percentages matter as much as the total number of units. OKW has potentially 230 studios and 230 1 bedroom units (as well as 274 dedicated 2 bedroom units). Even if half of the lockoffs are rented as 2 bedroom units, that's still easily over 100 studios - more than there are at VWL and BCV.

They ARE available now for cash. I checked on that last week - it is discounted from rack rate, but still a bit pricey so I hoped to used points instead.

I am feeling optimistic. We LOVE the OKW studio and my kids would much rather have the "real" bed than the sofa bed in other studios.

Anyone actually book an OKW studio during the weekend between Christmas and NYE less than 7-months out?? I am glad that we usually travel in the off season - this booking day by day and worrying about availability I can do without!
