OKW Reservations

My husband and I finally decided to take the plunge and become a DVC member. We are buying a small contract through resale.

I currently have reservations at AKL October 2-7 because that was the game plan before we decided to buy DVC.

I want to use my DVC points for OKW instead of going to AKL this year.

Here is my problem.... This resale transaction will take approximately 8 weeks to close (assuming I pass Disney) which brings me to around the second week of August. Will that be enough time to book a one bedroom at OKW for this October???

Maybe. If I had to bet, I'd say your chances are not very good, though. 60 days prior, DVC/MS usually sends any unreserved member inventory to CRO to rent to the public. You'll be competing with the general public for any remaining unreserved rooms. October is getting to be a more popular time to visit and your dates overlap the free dining offer that Disney is promoting.

All that said, you never know until you call. It would increase your chances if you are open to staying at other resorts.

I agree with Carol's assessment. I think if I were you, I would go through with the resale, and not cancel the AKL ressie until you are sure you can get something through DVC during that time period. Your chances might be a bit better at SSR, but you never know unless you try.
