Let me just say, WOW!!!!!

We bought our resale after looking through much information on the internet, but never actually visiting any DVC properties. My husband kind of "went along with things" but when he walked into our one-bedroom at OKW he was SO impressed!!!!!

We had room 3534 and had a wonderful view of the turtle pond and golf course. DH enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the morning and watching people tee off into the drink! :p

The staff was great! They greeted us so warmly! We even bumped into one of the ladies from general store the next day and she remembered us and said, "There they are enjoying their second honeymoon!" as she passed us. It was such a neat feeling!

Lunch at Olivia's was the best meal I've had at WDW to this point. I ordered the smoked chicken salad, salad with honey dijon dressing, and conch chower. I MUST experiment in the kitchen and find a way to duplicate that chicken salad. Yu-uh-uh-uh-meeeeee!

The room was perfect! Everything neat and clean, and equipped with everything we could possibly need. I found everything to be in great shape except one loose doorknob to the laundry room (from the bathroom) and just a tiny bit of black at the very top of the shower. (hey, no big deal! I get that at home.:) )

We used the village pool. Very clean, plenty of chairs, and parents who actually WATCHED their kids. ;) That was a nice change from some of the other resort pools we've used!

The parks were fine. A little busier than our usual September visit, but the longest wait we saw on ANYTHING was 40 minutes. Oh, and a side note on the attractions--I will never ride the Rockin' Roller Coaster again! EEEK!

The trip was fantastic and we just love our new "home". The only thing I'd like to see is at least one vending machine where I can get a little bag of chips in the middle of the night when I get a salt craving. Can anyone direct me to one at OKW?

I'm not sure what all else to include here, but please feel free to ask any questions you have. And if you're waivering on whether or not to buy, DEFINITELY BUY!!!!!

Glad you had such agreat trip. Did you check the laundry room at Turtle Pond, there may be a vending machine in there.

I think there are soda vending machines by the bus stops but I don't think they have any with food.

You'll have to get used to your "home" and stock some of your favorite goodies. No need to go out to the vending machine when you can just open the cabinet. ;)

Glad to hear you had a great first trip. I hope it's just the first of many to come.

Nice to read you enjoyed your first trip to OKw was so impressive! Hope your enjoyment continues!

We too love OKW. It is such a welcome, calming break from the hustle and bustle of many resorts.

As for snacks...we, like most, make a trip to the store on our first day/night, to stock up on munchies and (really) some good food too. It is great to reach into the fridge for a bowl of cherries or grapes for that evening snack instead of the "vending machine" you often get stuck with at many hotels.

No doubt, as you continue to enjoy the DVC resorts, you will build a fun shopping routine of your own.

Glad your welcome home was a great experience....Gotta love the Magic of Disney! :)

Yes, next time we'll do a little shopping first!:D We were only there 2 days and I just didn't plan on getting the munchies so late at night! Heehee! We did actually run up to the laundry room by the village pool but it was locked and we could see that there wasn't any vending in there other than detergents. And the bus stops only had pop. Oh, well! I just dove into the honey pots I had planned to take home and had sweet instead of salt.:p I'm sure this was a one time problem because I can't imagine going for only a couple days again--I want to MOVE IN!;)

LOL about moving in!!! The first time DH and I went to OKW, we both said it was kind of pathetic that where we vacationed was nicer than our house!!!!!!!

As the other posters said, once you go more you'll get into a routine of shopping for snacks etc for your unit. We like the Publix, which isn't far from OKW...I think on SR. 192. Ther's also a new Winn Dixie over by the gate near DD...you go out the gate and take a left and it's about 10 minutes down the road on the right and side. A regular grocery store, much cheaper than that Goodings that is right there outside that gate!

We don't cook while on vacation, except for breakfast sandwiches, but we like to have some soda and munchies, fruit, etc in the unit to snack on.

Welcome Home!!!!!!!!

You helped me remember our first trip to the DVC property. I also was amazed at the value it offered. Now I can't think of not "coming home". I too find OKW to be really special. All my points are at Boardwalk and Beach Club. OKW was sold when I bought in and added on and added again.

You also serve as a great reminder to get stuff ahead of time. I'll be back in OKW starting the 10th through 17th. I can't wait.

Welcome to DVC. Hope to see you back home soon!
