(Also posted on the Resorts board, but thought some fellow DVCers would have some special experience and insight!)

We're off to WDW in May, staying at OKW. Travelling with 2 kids, 2 grandparents and one sister-in-law. In the past we've stayed near the main building and used the big pool, but are wondering if we might prefer a more 'out-of-the-way' place this time and be near a Quiet Pool.

The question we have is - just how big are the Quiet Pools? They look kind of small on the maps...

Does anyone have any pictures of or links to the various OKW Quiet Pool areas?

Does anyone have any location recommendations? We will have a car, and will likely drive to all parks EXCEPT MK - for that one we are most likely to take a bus. Soooo, I think I want to be on the last or next-to-last stop before the bus leaves OKW (this was great with our last trip - the main building is the last stop and then out).

TIA, Jeff

The "Old Turtle Pond" area has a great pool- larger than the other 2 quiet pools. There is also a snack bar at that location.

The South Point and Miller's Road pools are adequate for enjoying the water and are not usually very busy. If you're looing for a place to take a swim and enjoy the sun, any of the pools should be fine. If you need a pool for Olympic training, they'll probably be a disappointment! ;)

Miller's Road is the stop before Hospitality House.

Enjoy!

We stayed at OKW in December for the first time. I had requested a pool view room. We were in bldg. 56 on the second floor overlooking a quiet pool. The pool is a bit bigger than a "standard" rectangular pool; in the same area is a hot tub and kids play area. We loved this location.

Here's a link to a page that has a picture of the Turtle Pond pool near the bottom of the page:

From looking at this picture, it looks to be the same shape as the pool next to bldg. 56; I can't tell how the size compares.

jjohns,
We always stay in the buildings near old turtle pond and swim in that pool and also have cook out there. It's very quiet, there a playground for the kids and a hot tub. JP:D

Another vote for South Point and particularily buildings 55 and 56. The pool there is great and you are extra close to DTD with the walkway. Also, it is the second bus stop, so you get home fast after illuminations!:D

Buildings 55 and 56 in the South Point area are very nice--definitely close to a lovely, quiet pool. While it is not huge, it also is rarely crowded there. I believe there is a view of Trumbo Canal from these buildings and the boats going back and forth to DD. Personally, we prefer this to Turtle Pond..we just stayed in Bldg 44 on Turtle Pond and the bus noise was unacceptable. Lots of people love this area though--and I'm sure most of the buildings there are quiet. Good Luck!
