OKW question

I'm getting ready to finalize the balance of my summer trip. We want to go to OKW and were considering a studio, but are now having second thoughts as we have never stayed in anything smaller than a 2 BR (at HH) on our previous stays. (We are a family of four.) Any advice, pro or con, on one over the other, besides the point value? Thanks for the help.

I think the upside of the two bedroom unit is pretty apparent. The extra bedroom allows for privacy, the kitchen allows for late night snacks or full breakfasts. Letting the kids have their own bedroom andeven their own beds gets rid of a huge problem.

We always stay in a Grand Villa. We are checing into one next week with my brother, his wife and their 18 month old.....technically, a two bedroom would do it, but I don't really call anybody sleeping wth the kids a vacation.

I would say that, if is doesn't place too much of a strain on your points - go for the one bedroom!

The ability to (potentially) save some $$ eating breakfast and other meals in your room is a plus. But, even more, I love being able to go to the other room (whichever that might be) and move around while the other party continues to sleep in the morning. Likewise, they can stay up later at night, while I can turn in early. And don't forget the washer/dryer in the 1BR - it comes in handy, also.

The one bedrooms at OKW are quite spacious - you will REALLY enjoy it!

But - to contradict everything I've just said, the "big minus" that others will often bring up is the fact that, by staying in a studio, you can either extend your stay, or possibly use those points for an additional trip.

FWIW - it's just my DH & I - no kids - and we still almost always stay in a 1BR, unless we're going over weekend nights.

Have a great trip either way!

Wow....as much as I look forward to several years of taking my DD's to WDW, a 1BR with just the DW sounds like decadently luxurious vacation!:smooth:

Some day....

We always get a 2BR for the four of us.

Each of of our two girls get her own bed. They sleep well -- which is more than I can say when we stay in places where they have to share a bed, which they're not accustomed to.

Everyone can go to bed and get up when they feel like it, because the living room is always available to those who are awake.

A 2-BR also gets you two bathrooms. What a time saver when trying to get out every morning!

I'm with everyone else! We always get a 2-bedroom with our 2 girls. They don't share a bed at home so I wouldn't think it was much of a "vacation" if they had to at WDW. Grany go for it! My husband and I have been on two trips now and we always get a 1-bedroom. Now I will probably get a lecture here, but we are going down in May with my sister and her husband and we will be getting them a studio. For ourselves we will be getting a 2-bedroom because our daughters will be joining us halfway through the trip. So the first 3 nights of the trip we will have only 2 people staying in a 2-bedroom. I know that we should have my sister and her husband stay with us the first half of the trip but we hate moving and would really like them to have a place of their own.

I have to agree with everyone else. I refuse to stay in a studio again! We did that once after we had stayed in a 2 bedroom and a GV, and now we don't stay in anything less than a 1 bedroom, even if it is just the 2 of us. I LOVE the room and the laundry and the big balcony at OKW!

A 2 bedroom would obviously be glorius, but a good compromise between the two bedroom and the studio would be a one bedroom, which would give you more room, the full kitchen facilities, the washer/dryer, and it would save you some points over renting a 2 bedroom. Now granted, the kids would be sharing the pull out sofa(queen size)in the living room, but again, it's a compromise if you want more than a studio for not as many points as a 2 bedroom.
