My initial impression is "monstrous." I think my ultimate opinion will depend on how it looks after the landscaping is finished -- in its natural setting. With sand all around of identical color and some palm trees I see potential for it going either way. Ugly or tasteful.
I think the final verdict on the slide will definitely depend on what they do with the landscaping surrounding the slide. I can see this being very nice or possibly sticking out like a sore thumb. lol
I'll be there in two weeks (from today!) so I am anxious to see how it turns out. Most importantly, when is it going to be finished? Is there any idea really or it like an any day now thing now that the scaffolding and such has been taking down?
You know it does look monstrous..... but man oh man if I were a seven - eleven year old boy or girl, I would be thinking WOW! Look at that awesome sandcastle slide...

I think it looks awesome. Our 8.9. and 13 year old are going to love it ! Can't wait to see the finished product. It's difficult to judge scale based on a single photo that is centered on the object. Perhaps, if we had a picture with another landmark in it we could judge it better.

Just returned home from OKW about 20 minutes ago. I was told by a CM working at Hank's that the slide would not open until Dec 31st. She said there was some problem that the contrators had to fix that was delaying the progress.
Anyway, as of this morning, it was about 75% painted. Would post a picture if I knew how. Looks great!
Oh boy, is my daughter excited! I just showed her the picture. Thanks! When I told her we were staying at Old Key West for spring break she was bummed cause she said she didn't want to stay anywhere that was OLD. (Get it - OLD Key West?)
She has changed her tune now. I just hope I'm more impressed this time since our last trip was not too impressive. It was my first time there and we had studio 5010. Rinkwide knows about that room, too. It is a handicapped accessible room that sits ON TOP of a busy road outside the resort.
Thanks for the update & don't feel bad I don't know how to post pics either but maybe if Caskbill doesn't mind you can forward the picture to him and he can post it for you?
That way we can all see the progress. How about it Caskbill,do you mind?
I'm dying to see what it looks like as it is opening next week.
I don't think the pool will affect reservations but definitely will affect pool hopping. The HH area will be packed and no place to park for members staying there.
