OKW Pool Question

So I read in the DVC Newsletter in the mail last week that the Pool at OKW has become quit the hopping little place now that they have a water slide. Is the pool really that crowded? I always liked the fact that even on the most crowded days in the park we could always come back to the resort and find chaise lounges open at the pool for a little R & R.

Anyone just back from the world have any experience with this?

Thanks..... :earsboy:

I would like to know too. I may be going down to stay at POR at the end of June and I want to check it out. Until reading that report I had told a friend I wasn't going to go to Disney so soon since I was there in March but just because of this story I have to see myself. My family owns Timeshare at OKW.

That story really pissed off my father. :sad2:

If the cars are from people staying OKW is okay, but how many of them are not staying at OKW. My family thinks they should block access to people like they are doing at the Beach Club.

Can anyone give us updates? Also how many of those cars parked by HH has the white paper stating they are staying at OKW with a current date on it.

Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm guessing they will block access if it continues. I'm glad we don't have a car most of the time! We usually use our neighborhood pool, anyway. Now we'll be sure to! :listen:

I think the parking near HH should be for people checking in and out of resort guests who are dining at Olivias. There is really no reason for anyone else to be parking there. If your white parking permit says OKW, you should be parking at your unit and NOT at HH. You can easily hop any bus to get there if you don't care to walk.

When I stayed at OKW 2 weeks ago, I had no problem finding a space in the main lot in the afternoon to check-in, go to the store or Olivia's. That surprised me because it previous years it was hard to find a space and I assumed the pool slide would make it worse. I noticed in the front row that they put some 15 minute spaces, I assume to check-in.

Those 15 minute spaces have always been there for check-in.

Yes, they have and no one pays attention to them or enforces the 15 minute rule. We park out car there when we drive down instead of flying and the only reason it would be there for an extended period of time would be because our room is not ready yet and we don't know what building we are in which would be very rare.

WE have often left our car in the HH lot (not in the 15 minute spaces) for an afternoon while we went to the parks and before we knew which unit we would be in. Once, they actually told me which building we were "likely" to be in, and we parked there.

Maybe they were always filled and I never noticed them before. A couple of times I had to park over at building 14 to check-in.

Ok so now that we have talked about the parking situation? How crowded really is the pool area mow that we have a water slide? :cool1:

I would like to know how busy the main pool is now. We usually are in the Turtle Pond area but the next trip we are getting a GV and I need the elevator so I think we'll be near the main pool.

We were there the from May 7 through 14 and the pool area was busy, but never croweded. We were always able to get a couple of chairs close to the pool. The slide is a great addition for our family. We loved it and so did everyone else around the pool while we were there.

Was there Apr 24 -29. Much busier than other times we've been there. Usually visit 2 -3 times per year. Was able to find lounge chairs before lunch but not alot of them available. After lunch they turned over but looked to be full constantly. The pool definitely had more people + children in it than usual.
