I am booking a trip for my large group of families. We are going to be booking 4 studios for separate families. (We love our own spaces). We are trying to decide between Coronado Springs studio or Old Key West studio (renting DVC points). The price for the two are just about the exact same. Which should we choose!?

I think it depends on the kind of trip you want to plan. OKW is lovely, however the amenities are different than CSR, as is the entire vibe of the resort. My family has stayed at both resorts, and while we liked OKW< we found that we want a more traditional food court, and we prefer a more "hotel" feel. OKW is more like a home away from home, and while it was stunning, relaxing, and delivered more than it's promises, only two of our group really appreciated that kind of trip.

I would look at the expectations of your group and determine if having a larger Food court matters, etc, or if you want the retreat that OKW offers.

Thank you!

If you need to book four studios at OKW, be aware that they might not be in the same building. Most of the buildings only have four studios (two on each floor and both at opposite ends of the building).

If you plan on renting points, also be aware that you might find it hard to find one owner with enough points to book all four studios. They will need to book one at a time. If you are planning on going during a busy DVC time, they might not be able to get four studios.

We liked OKW and the kids loved the pool but I have to agree on the food. There's only Olivia's and Gurling Suitcase (a small concession type stand) near the pool. W.ould have liked a more traditional food court but, we knew that going in and wanted to try. multiple bus stop too and if memory serves, the bus stop in front of the main house is the last stop.

CRS is a beautiful resort, we stayed in the Gran Destino tower last month and loved it. The issue if you are not staying in the Tower, it's huge and the walk to the onsite restaurants including the CS is a trek. The new bridges make life much easier, but it's still a haul as the original resort buildings are located all around a large lake. CRS has a great pool and several quiet pools located at each section of the resort buildings.
The buses would be an issue for me at CRS with a family, it takes a while as the buses make a loop around the resort and pick up and drop off at the 4 separate stations around the outside of the resort. It can take a while depending on where your rooms are located. It's not an issue fro my wife and I as we Uber all over and rarely get on the bus.
Attached is a picture I took of the Tower from the Three Bridges Restaurant located in the middle of the lake. Keep in mind the CS restaurant is located just to the right of the picture.

With every villa at OKW having either a kitchenette or a full kitchen, plus with OKW being a timeshare, there really wasn't any need for a food court. None of the deluxe resorts have a full sized food court.

Yeah, unfortunately, we didn't think of that. We usually book at Bay Lake and are spoiled with being able to walk over to the Contemp.

For ease this trip, we decided to book 4 studios at CSR! I'm excited to try someplace new! Any suggestions for building requests since we won't be in the tower but will want to be close to the main pool and dining?!

Coronado Springs doesn't have studios. Just hotel rooms or suites.

Try the Touring Plans room finder feature. It'll show you what rooms are looking for.

Yeah I'm confused by this too. You didn't book the tower at CSR, do did you book junior suites at CSR? I believe those still exist in the non-tower buildings. If you booked regular hotel rooms, I would request Cabanas. It will be your best shot to be closest to the main buildings and the main pool. Casitas is on the opposite side, but further from the pool and also Casitas buildings 1, 2, and 3 are all preferred rooms only, which is a bookable category.

We have stayed at CSR many times and do not find the resort to be "huge", I think the longest walk from the very back of Ranchos to the front was about 10 minutes, and the tower is close to El Centro. Not to mention that it's a very nice and scenic walk, and this was before the new bridges:) But everyone is different, have a great trip.
