I am renting points from a friend and I have OKW and BWV to choose from. We have not stayed at either resort. We will be in a 1 BR either way. There are 4 of us including my two daughters ages 5 and 6. (BTW, take MK out of the equation as we are spending the first 3 nights at VWL for MK and then switching to one of these two for the last 3 nights)

For those that have stayed at both, which one do you prefer? :confused3

Thanks for any feedback you can give.

I've stayed at both, I would go with OKW for the extra room with 4 people.

I own at both resorts and love the rooms at OKW. But I think that kids who are 5 and 6 would LOVE the nightly entertainers on the BW. And being able to walk (or boat) to both Epcot and DHS is just great. If you are planning on spending significant time in those 2 parks, I vote for BWV. If you will be hanging out in the room more, then go with OKW.

We have stayed at both resorts and love both of them. But, if given a choice, I would always go with BWV for the location, entertainment and just plain fun. OKW is really separated from the parks , but the rooms are larger. :santa:

You can take a boat from OKW to DTD. And OKW has a newer pool with an extra large sandcastle. Plus nothing beats sitting on the porch at OKW - they are huge, especially compared to the rest of the resorts where you barely have room for a couple of chairs and a small side table. At OKW you'll have a large table with four chairs around the table so you can dine out there. One morning while I was eating my breakfast on the porch at OKW, I saw a family of otters swim out of the Trumbo Canal up to the bank.

OKW does tend to be quieter and that's why we love it. BWV is just too busy for us.

We probably are not interested in DTD this trip but the extra large patio sounds awesome! This is really a coin flip because We love the idea of quiet and relaxing OKW but also love the idea of the Boardwalk nightlife and easy access to two parks.

Has anyone ever split up their stay between two resorts like this? If so, my next question would be.....Would Disney transfer our luggage from one resort to the other while we are out having fun or will we need to schlep everything over on the buses ourselves?

Thanks again for the responses!

I would vote BWV. OKW is just a little too chill for me. And I love being able to walk to Epcot.

The one bedroom at BWV will be about the same size as the one bedroom you will have at VWL (assuming that is what you have). The one bedroom at OKW is much larger (as are its porches). However, if you want to be near a park, and in fact be able to walk to two of them, then BWV is definitely the choice. With parks and nearby hotels, you have easy access to about 20 restaurants.

BWV you can take the boat to both DHS and Epcot, plus the night entertainment, plus 3 pools.

both have community halls - so your kids can be entertained no matter what.

would have to go with BWV (do love OKW) - but you can walk or boat to Epcot and Studios - can't do that from OKW.

BWV has a swimming pool that you kids will love too. Now not as cute as OKW sandcastle with Micky head - but it is a Clown. the slide is done as a rr.

would definitely have an adult do it first - before you allow the kids to ride.

there is plenty to do at BWV even without the parks.

We own at both. While I would DEFINITELY pick OKW as my personal favorite, (because I am big on getting relaxed on vacation) we always pick BWV when taking along kids or grand kids. Just more to do without going to a park. And an easy walk if you do want a park.

Thanks everybody! This was all very helpful. I think if it were just the two of us, it would be OKW hands down for the quiet and relaxing nature of the resort (that is what WE prefer). However, I think the high energy and convenience to the parks would be the best for the girls at this age. So, since it's not about me anymore ;) , I think we are going to the BWV for this half of the trip. :thumbsup2

I know I'm going to regret not having those extra large patios though. :(

Oh, some of the 1-bds at BWV have giant patios. It's just not something you can count on having. I stayed in a BWV room once that had a patio that had to be 250 square feet. Don't get your hopes up, but it certainly can happen.

I think you'll be pleased with your decision - BWV!!!

We just split our stay at BWV (6 nights) OKW (3 nights). Yes, Disney will transfer your luggage for you. So when you move from VWL to BWV just call bell services and tell them where you are going and then you can go have fun and your bags will be waiting at your new resort @3:00. :)

Our kids are 8 & 4 and they have stayed at BWV many times and always enjoy the atmosphere and the entertainment of the boardwalk. And having Epcot and DHS so close is so wonderful!!!! :)
