OKW or AKL?

2 Bedroom, 4 teens, August 2019. Trying to decide on which one? Kids like to go off by themselves but we have only ever been at monorail resorts before. Don't have enough points this time for one of those so trying to save points and looking for thoughts on both. TIA

I'm going to say OKW and I own at AKV. For teens they can hop on a boat to Disney Springs very easily and I think that gives it a big advantage over AKV. I'm not sure if OKW is more spacious than AKV, but it is pretty darn spacious with a great balcony that has a table and chairs.

If they like to go off by themselves, and you are comfortable with that, OKW. The access to Disney Springs is convenient.

The OKW villas are larger and have two beds in the second bedroom rather than a bed and pullout couch. On the other hand, AKL-Kidani 2-bedrooms have 3 full bathrooms - with 4 teens that might be helpful.

Never had a problem with buses at OKW in 21 years of owning and staying there.

Ditto. The one time I did have a problem at OKW we were WAY overcompensated for it. I was amazed. I've only stayed at OKW 5 times, but I've had great experiences all five of those times. I've stayed at every resort on WDW property except for Coronado Springs and AKL. I think I've had the best bus service at OKW.

teens will have it much easier to find things to do at OKW. It's an easy walk to DS with all the places to eat, shop and just hang out, AK is off by itself with little to do, how long can you expect teens to look at animals?

I agree and for us, traveling as a party of 6, combo of these - 3 (22 yr old ) 2 (17 yr old) that's the determining factor. We wouldn't be able to leave the villa without that 3rd full bathroom, a lot of grooming goes on in there! Otherwise OKW is the largest and still my favorite. In the end our young people don't really care where we stay, they've mastered the transit system (bus, boats, trains, monorail etc.)

My first thought was definitely AKL. However, if your teens will spend a lot of time at DS, OKW makes more sense.

I think OKW meets all of the criteria, with the two beds, lower points and being close to Disney Springs, for things to explore. I love AK, but it for teens looking for things to do, it will be pretty far from much going on IMO.Have a great trip!
