I have never posted before, but I have so much fun reading all your trip logs I had to add one!

Participants:

Me (B): 30 yrs old, recently divorced, lover of all things Disney
Mom: 50-something, looks 30 something, tons of fun
Dad: Also 50 something, looks 40 something, best guy on the planet
A: Female, 22 yrs old, best friend, fellow Disney devotee
M1: Male, 35 yrs old, friend, disney newbie
J and M2: couple who are friends with Mom and Dad

Mom and Dad have been members of OKW since its inaugural year. They say it is the best thing they have ever purchased, and the whole family agrees! The first week of November every year, they go on a golf trip with my aunt and uncle, but this year due to other commitments, my aunt and uncle had to cancel. Mom and Dad are stuck with a two bedroom villa and only two people. Enter ME! to the rescue. I quickly issue an invite to A, which she jumps at, and then go in search of others to fill up space. A coworker and friend jumps at the chance to play golf in November (we are from snowy climes) and agrees. It is set that my parents and I are flying down that Saturday, and M1 and A will drive and meet us at OKW Saturday afternoon. We are also meeting up with my parent's friends, but they are staying at CBR for the week.

Saturday morning dawns fairly warmly for our northern state and we prepare to take off for the airport. A and M1 have been en route since Friday morning, and plan to arrive at OKW at approx. 5pm. Our flight lands at 3pm, so after a grocery stop we should all meet up about the same time. Direct flight goes smoothly, and we get our Dollar rent a van with no problem. Mom and I make quick work at Gooding's (armed with a list made up ahead of time) and it's off to OKW!!

A and M1 have made excellent time and are waiting poolside for us. They look happy, if a bit pale. A week in FLA should fix that, however! Dad checks in and we head off to our two bedroom at South Point. We always like to stay at Turtle Pond, but South Point is very nice as well and we are all happy with the room. We dump our stuff, unpack, and head out to our traditional dinner at Captain Jack's Oyster Bar. This has been our tradition since I was a very little girl. The menu has changed, but the atmosphere is the same. Also the same is the bartender, Dave, who has worked there for at least 20 years. We love him. I secretly named him Lurch (ala the Addam's Family) when I was little, due to his height primarily I think. Anyway, the name stuck and now the first thing everyone asks each other when we sit down is "Do you see Lurch!?! Is he here??"

Dinner was excellent: I had the peel and eat shrimp, Mom and Dad had the crab, and A and M1 had ribs (they are NOT seafood lovers). A good time was had by all and after a very brief look around Basin and WOD we called it a night and headed back to OKW. Mom and Dad in the main bedroom, A and I in the second bedroom and M1 on the pull-out. Before we fell asleep A made the plan to go to MGM the next day. This is our favorite park (although as the week progressed we changed our mind alot, depending on what park we were in!!). We finally fell asleep, but as you will read in subsequent posts, A doesn't sleep much and therefore neither do I!

To come: Drinking around the world at the Food and Wine Festival, partying at Pleasure Island, and various and sundry dramas that would culminate in one of our party disappearing before the week was over. Altho the first day is relatively calm, the drama to come is not to be believed!
