OKW Lovers Thread. Part 2

Read an article recently from the board sponsor that pointed out that it's been 7 years since OKW's last refurb, making it due for a soft goods refurb anytime now.

Wonder if there's any possibility of fold down murphy beds for 1,2 and 3 bedrooms with that refurb? Seems unlikely with the window placements in the living room. They could likely do it for the studios, but most seem to like the two real beds vs. a bed and a couch.
They took the second bed out of the inn rooms at VB and replaced it with a murphy.

Personally I would rather have the couch although those studios are huge so it doesn't matter as much compared to a CCV studio for example.

Well, if you can get excited about being a shorter walk to Olivia's and the shop that's an advantage.
When staying in the Near HH area, I prefer building 23 to26 if they are available, as they are closer to the Peninsular Road bus stop. But I also had a lovely one bedroom building 11 a few trips back.

Just remember that the near HH 1 and 2 bedrooms unit only have the main bathroom entrance thru the Master Bedroom. No biggie if just a couple traveling together, but a consideration if anyone is sleeping in the living room area.

Good point! A always forget about this distinction for the phase 1 buildings at OKW.

We always ask for building 26 and two times have gotten the exact same room.. love that bus stop right there and the quick walk to the pool/store or HH house bus stop if we miss the Peninsular stop

Staying for one night in a couple weeks before transfer to Riviera for the rest of our stay

We will be staying at OKW in January and are very excited! We have the standard studio category and are hoping for something quiet, away from roads and ferry horns. We have a car so not concerned about access to buses. Also, we are walkers so not concerned about walk to main area. Just looking for quiet and a good view if anyone was suggestions!

We have a standard studio booked. We have stayed at Coronado in the past so I understand internal bus loops (if that is similar). It's more of a relaxing stay since we are using the 3-day ticket deal and not in a rush to do everything at this point. Hoping to enjoy the pools especially for the kids.

It depends, probably the quietest studios will be Bldgs 34,35, 37, 55 and 56. 55 and 56 are also close tot he walking path to Disney Springs. Be aware that the path is not well lit at night, so it is best to take the busses after dark, due to wildlife.

There isn't a dedicated internal bus loop, as such. The park busses stop at all stops, starting with Peninsular Road, South point, Turtle Pond, Miller's Road and Hospitality House...in that order, then to their respective park. The Disney Springs/Internal bus stops at Hospitality first, then Peninsular Road, South Point, Turtle Pond and Miller's Road, then Disney Springs. There is also a boat from Hospitality to Disney Springs, if weather and water levels allow it.

From all that..I have placed you in #37.

We always requested building 35. Quiet area and near the bus stop but not so close that you heard the busses all the time.

i will be staying at OKW in September in a studio and i remember the washing machine near the pool used to be free, is that still the case ? I am a DVC member but last time i stayed here was before covid.

Yes still free and always will be. Well dues pay for it.

Just chiming in that we are back from a stay in a studio, building 24. We loved the resort and overall vibe. The rooms...they need help.

I did leave feedback. We just had a really rundown room. Outlet by the microwave was coming out of the wall. The security latch on the door was partially unscrewed. There was a large gap around the main door so at night light was coming in. Didn't keep me from sleeping but I just wondered how much that affects the room with the humidity and weather they get in FL. The air filter in the ceiling was filled with dust and was obvious. I just happened to look up and it stood out.

Not sure if all the rooms are like this. They need some serious maintenance so I'm hoping they get this when they do refurbishments.

Just booked a studio here for April! I booked near hospitality. Our friends re not DVC but she is a travel agent and gets a TA rate and they booked a 1br. I called MS and requested us to be near each other and that we’re traveling together and we’d like to be in building 13 or 15, really by the main pool. Between our two families we’ll have FIVE BOYS between the ages of 6-11 so we just want them to swim and get tired 😴 😅

Since she is a cash room and I’m not, I asked if there will be an issue with the request or us being near each other like how Poly has DVC buildings and cash buildings and member services said there won’t be, but reading this thread it seems we might have some issues with my hospitality booking and her not having that option as a cash booking?

We will have a car but they will not, when we usually stay at SSR we request grandstands to be first bus stop. Is there another option we should look into being by the main book and close to the first bus stop?

We were trying to all stay at boardwalk but it was not an option for me to book at 7 months so we decided on OKW instead as everyone’s first time staying here!

Since she is a cash booking, I would have her call Disney and also note "Traveling With" on her reservation. Building 15 is not officially in the Near HH category, those in the category are 11 to 14 and 23 to 26. Either way, your friend should be nearby, but not necessarily in the same building.
