We are leaving 3 weeks from today for our first stay at OKW. We didn't request any particular area on our reservation because I just didn't know enough about the resort to make a request. We didn't request a HH area and realize that it's probably too late to add the request now. We are pretty easy going people, we'll have a car and are all capable of walking without tiring. We've stayed at VWL, BWV, BCV, HH, & VB and have never been dissatisfied with the location of our room at any of the resorts (okay, I didn't like the one at HH that the balcony looked at the pool slide stairs, but it didn't ruin my trip). Should I just assume we'll be happy wherever they put us at OKW or should I make a request? We'll arrive on a Sunday morning at 10:00 or so, so there's a chance we'll have a selection of rooms to choose from. Just looking for advice from all you OKW fans!

If there are several rooms ready, you'll normally be given your choice of those locations. My favorite area is the Turtle Pond area, and the South Point area along the canal, bldgs 30 to 33, 45, 45, 55 & 56. My least favorite buildings are 27 to 29, due to the overly brushy wooded view. Generally, at OKW, there aren't really any awful locations, everything is about equal. All studios are about the same, one bedrooms and larger had a design change in buildings 30 and over. In bldgs 30 and higher there are two entrances to the bathroom, through the master bedroom and through the laundry room. In bldgs 29 and lower, the only bathroom entrance is through the master bedroom. Here is a resort map:

The only thing we request at OKW is top floor, so that we don't have anyone above us. We used to request a golf course view. Then, one time, the CM at check-in told us apolegetically that there were no golf course views left that day, so we had a "garden view". When we got to our villa, we had a nicer view of the golf course than some supposed golf course views. So that ended that request!

Hospitality House is now a seperate booking category. You would need to request it when you make your booking.

We booked a HH reservation. We got bldg 23 overlooking water and the 6th hole of the golf course, very nice. We had a car, but rode the buses. The nice thing about about HH bookings is walking to HH and getting the bus as they leave the resort. If you're laid back, it doesn't matter. We did ride the bus through the resort on the first day and took the boat to DTD. The only real advantage was being close to the Gurgling suitcase during tropical storm FAY. :goodvibes

Thanks for the replies. Even though we'll have a car, we do use the busses to get to most of the parks. Is there an area of OKW that is the last stop on the route that is usually full, thus making you wait longer for a bus? We are usually fine with waiting, but it gets frustrating when the bus comes around and is full and you can't load.

is there b=b que grills near HH??
If you were in one of the HH buildings how many minutes to the pool??

We prefer Turtle Pond & Southpoint, too. We like having the quiet pools so close, and the BBQ areas. Southpoint is what we have requested for our upcoming trip, for the quiet pool, BBQ, and also because it feels more like home at the end of the day when we head back (drive our own cars) from the parks. It's more like driving into a neighborhood than a hotel. The times we have been there, the busses that weren't yet full stopped at HH before heading to parks. And I don't recall if there is a bbq area at the main pool area. There is a lot of stuff around there, but I don't remember a grill...there could be.

We like South Point also, and our very favorite units are 45, & 46 but we like 55 as well, and 15, 16, and 21 aren't too bad either! We don't usually request anything anymore.
