I am staying for a week at OKW with my DD (3), DS (8 mos), DH, my nanny and her son. None of us are smokers. What is a good location for a 2br that is near a pool for kids, yet somewhat quiet. Also, what are the chances of getting a non-smoking villa - the last time we were at disney I was 8 months pregnant and they WOULD NOT give me a non-smoking room (and it STUNK).

Thanks!!!
61 days and counting!!!

getting a non-smoker room at OKW is generally not a problem - half of the building used to be smoking but that changed before the resort was even finished - more DVC members are non-smoking. I think there are only 5? (maybe 7) buildings that are smokers these days.

I would ask for near a pool - OKW has 4 pools so your chances are pretty good. Oh I would definitely say near a pool not on a pool (these can be noisy).

too many members and guests want to be near the HH (hospitiality house) - this is where the front desk, restuarant, general store, community hall, main pool, exercise room, tennis, basketball, big play area in the sand for kids - this is a difficult area to get.

all the pools have a play area for kids - there is a particular nice one at Turtle pond. If you don't mind your kids in sand.

I used to have a list of non-smoking buildings, but I can't find it now. Basically, there are only a few buildings that are smoking optional out of about 50 buildings. I usually request non-smoking for health reasons when I make the ressie, and I have never been disappointed. We also like to stay near the South Point area quiet pool for serenity and ease to the buses. I hear the Tutle Pond area is nice with kids, but it never looks a quiet to me as South Point.

Not getting your smoking preference met is now the exception (although it still does happen occasionally).

Here is a link that will provide some <a href="http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=146435">more information about OKW.</a>

Enjoy your trip!

We always ask for a unit along Old Turtle Pond Road. The bus stop is halfway down the road, the pool is lovely and usually very quiet and the snack bar is open most of the year. You can still walk to HH (not all that far) and if necessary take the bus back. (A hint here is to go to the Peninsular road stop and take any bus back!) I find the Turtle Pond units, except for building 34 closest to the bus turn around, to be among the quietest we have stayed at.
Yes the South Point pool is quiet but out of the way, especially if you are in buildings 49 or 50. You could walk to the Turtle Pond pool from there.
Ahh to be at OKW and Turtle Pond now:wave:
