OKW Housekeeping nightmare

See that is my point, it was not really a nightmare, the nightmare was how many times I had to call. The issue with not washing them ourselves was that we were in a studio and we had already done our laundry day that we needed to do. We have experienced this problem on our last three stays at OKW. I did email MS and am still awaiting a response. Hopefully I will get one not that it will make much difference but hopefully it will impress upon them that we are watching and that we do care about the investment that we have made. :earsboy:

They do know people are watching, but obviously it hasn't made a bit of difference. If they don't answer you, send me PM and I will give you the name and number of who to speak to.

THis is all very interesting. We have stayed at OKW more than 20 times, and have NEVER had a missed T&T or full cleaning. We did get an extra one by mistake once.

We were at OKW from 12/23-12/27 and had lot of issues with housekeeping. Coffee maker was broken, frying pan was gross and it took to calls everytime we need to get something. Never got our express check out , which took another 2 calls. Did not ruin the trip, but a far cry from when you used to hang up the phone and have housekeeping at your door.

I would also like to give a big shout out to the family of noise makers who moved into the studio next door on our last night, and let their children make noise in front of our door and in the room at 11 PM. I would rather deal with housekeeping issues then noisey , rude, neighbors. Sorry did I wake you the next morning at 6:30 AM as we headed to the park for EMH :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I agree with DVCguy that rude neighbors who make a lot of noise at add times and smoke in non-smoking units are the worst. I remember once having someone above us whose kids were jumping and bouncing super balls every morning at about 5 AM!!! I got up two different mornings and took the mop and banged it on the living room ceiling...it helped! Sometimes folks forget there are others below them because they aren't used to living in a multiple family dwelling.

Hey Diane! How are you? I think you must be very lucky to have not had any probs with housekeeping - I always say timing is everything! I think that maybe the last three trips we've had to call about something or other - fortunately always resolved on the first call! This is not upsetting, but mildly distressing. Things have slowly deteriorated over the years, but not enough for me to want to sell! ;)

I'm sure we've missed T&T days, but we don't pay attention - if someone shows up - yee ha! We get a 2BR and can wash what we need easily. I think one stay we had housekeeping trying to visit us twice in one day. :confused3

Again, i go with the flow and sit on the verandah and re-lax! :cloud9:

ps - when do pitchers and catchers report? Let's Go Tribe!

Not only were there rooms in our building empty, there were other rooms in other resorts (namely SSR which was running a HUGE CM discount during the holidays)...perhaps they should take the items from those EMPTY rooms and bring them to the rooms where the guests expected/needed them.

Calling for one missing item is fine, for several...it's unacceptable guest service.

As a former hotel owner...I hate to say..I agree with the OP and others. One call should handle it. I do not feel that DVC members should be having to cover for Mousekeeping by doing their own towels. We pay for Mousekeeping(in the form of dues-an expense), just as Disney does at their resorts(mousekeeping salary expense). Do you think Disney would find it acceptable that services weren't being preformed for their paying guests(and yet mousekeeping is being paid a wage). There should be some sort of survey filled out by every member staying, this would give DVC Management real numbers to work with, and improve services. It could act as a checks and balance, and also serve as feedback for employee review. And for those members who want their privacy, that is easily accomplished by doing what a poster said-hang the privacy tag, and call and cancel services.

Ruin my trip...no...but I do like clean towels, and a response to items that need correction.

We did get T&T, but as I mentioned on another thread, the large laundry bin remained outside our unit every day for the week we were there. In the am, it was full of clean towels and sheets, in the pm it was full of dirty ones. We washed our towels with detergent I brought from home so it was no big deal. We didn't have a blender, potato masher or veg peeler either, but we made due with what we had. A 2br with "issues" was better than a moderate/value room with no issues any day.
We also had party animals above us-they would go out on the veranda every night and have a great time til 1 or 2 am. After the second night of it, they didn't invite us, so I went out in my jammies and asked if they could keep it down...still no invite LOL :rotfl: But they did seem to try to keep the volume down after that.

LOL, Sue! Not sure, but GO TWINS! BTW, I think the Tribe will have a great team this year.

We are headed to OKW the first 10 days of March for a combination Disney/spring training trip.

We have to wash towels every other day or so due to heavy usage so I might not even notice if mousekeeping didn't replace them on day four. Best I can recall they always did. Seems they might have been a day late once.

I think we've always had prompt responses to calls for repairs, although I think there was one time I had to call two days in a row for something. When we're at WDW we're so busy it's hard to keep track of stuff like that.

I agree it's WRONG when we don't get services we pay for in our dues. I suspect it's not too common, though.

We also had bad mousekeeping service at OKW in September. The place was deserted, but they kept leaving dirty towels and trash outside of the rooms (including ours upon check in....nice welcome). We had to call twice to get someone to come and clean up the outside of our room. We are new DVCers and love it, but the other Disney resorts mousekeeping service is something we really miss. Not just the # of visits by mousekeeping, but the quality and follow through.

I will be staying at OKW from 1/29 - 2/3 in a studio. I don't think the trash would be so hard to handle as we usually take the trash out ourselves but I would be upset with not having clean towels. Hope that doesn't happen when we are there.

Can't imagine you would even need fresh towels after four days. :confused3
